  1. I recently made a topic about what to do when the bite is really slow and many people suggested using finesse worms. Well the bite was slow today and I wasn't getting any bites so I grabbed a medium action spinning rod I put some 6lb line on and put a 4inch worm on there and decided to see if there was anything too this finesse mumbo jumbo. I completely started to slay the bass! I caught maybe 12 bass in the next hour all 2lb+ it was great, I had a Shakey head rigged that worked well and then I switched to a Texas rig weightless to work around some thicker cover and it worked just as well. To anyone who doesn't use finesse tactics much I higky suggest you go try it when the bite gets tough!
  2. I love the rage rig! I've caught loads of bass on it, fell in love with it ever since I saw bassresource do a video on it ha!
  3. Thanks for all the great help guys, for all the people asking I fish from a boat, I'm going back this afternoon and will try out some of these tactics! Edit: At banks lake IMO its defiantly all about finding the fish, the bass seems a lot easier to find there in summer for some reason and when it gets real hot and the bass start heading for the deep spots under the Cyprus trees I can usually find them a lot easier, its that time after post spawn when its not quite summer yet that I have the most trouble. Any tips for this time frame?
  4. Yes there are bass in this lake I've caught tons here and my fishing buddy caught and 11lb bass out of there last month too.
  5. Yeah there is tournaments here and I've caught loads of bass here, its just known for being a tough lake to fish... I'm trying to get more serious about bass fishing but somedays at banks lake I just can not catch a fish I try lures of all sizes and colors its just frustrating... I have not tried drop shotting lately though and will try that if the bite gets slow again

  7. I fish a lake called banks in south GA and get skunked on a regular basis, but what I don't get is sometimes I can fish almost a whole day and throw every lure in my tackle boxs with a load of varied retrieves and still I don't catch a single bass... It seems like after 8 hours of fishing at least one bass would strike something I put in the water... Anyways now that I'm done with my sob story lol what do y'all do on days when nothing seems to work? (besides going home) haha like what lures do you use etc...
  8. I do practice catch and release but I love me some Fried bass lol, if I go fishing and I want some fish later I'll keep at the most 1-2 (not large bass) and cook them and eat them the same day... But that's a little off topic don't ya think? Catch and grease I thought was just a neat name.
  9. I tried jigs before but it seemed like almost every time it would get clogged with grass before getting back to the boat... I'll try em again though and see what happens
  10. I fish a place in Georgia and its called rays mill pond and it is THICK THICK THICK with grass and hydrilla, I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice for fishing the really thick stuff and some types of lures y'all use in thick grass, about the only thing I can catch stuff out there with is a Texas rig or top water frog...
  11. Its fine if thats how you want to fish but beware that snap swivels do fail and it will happen eventually if you use them. And another thing is that a lot of lures actions will be messed up by the swivel ( crankbaits, jerkbaits, etc..) If I were you I'd just take the extra time to tie it on every time it takes little time and the more you do it the faster you do it.
  12. I had a good day of fishing today but right before I left I tied on a Carolina rig just for fun because I rarely use it and caught 2 good bass but anyways I was just wondering what types of worms yall use on it, I was using zoom trick worms on it but was wondering if ribbon tails or others would work better. Another question is would senkos work on a Carolina? My friend and I got in a discussion about this rig and he said he had luck with senkos but I dont see how a senko would be any good on a Carolina rig...
  13. I fish the zoom bruised banana trick worm a lot in a lake in south Georgia called banks lake, its a dark lake with not a whole lot of visibility and I have really good luck with this worm. I was wondering if anybody else has any luck with this color worm in other places, for anyone not familiar with the color its just a yellow trick worm with brown stripes wrapping around it.
  14. I have one of those 1000 SG too! I'll spool some line on it and try it out tommorrow
  15. My uncle just gave me 5 rods and reels from the 1970's because he doesnt freshwater fish anymore and figured i would use them more, but out of the five I decided to try an old Shimano bantam 100 casting reel thats 30+ years old first and it is amazing! He takes very good care of his reels and this really old reel feels like it was made yesterday and it cast very good. You can get these bantam 100's in good condition at 50-100$... Anybody else use this reel, i was just wondering if anyone else loves these old reels as much as me.
