  1. I use a 7:1 for spinnerbaits and it works great, I haven't been using flouro for my spinnerbaits I've been trying out 20lb braid lately but 16lb flouro should be fine but I would prefer a little smaller. But Idk what conditions your fishing or what you want your bait to do.
  2. The fishing has been kinda slow in my pond at my house so I decided to try something I never do, I used a tiny spinnerbait with colored blades, I didn't catch anything but had one follow it for a couple feet. Do you guys ever use colored blades like red, black, green, yellow, chartreuse anything different than the normal silver and bronze colored blades? I've always used the normal mettalic blades and did fine but I think I'm going to start trying colored blades more often and see what happens... P.S this is the spinnerbait I was using, does it look familiar? I would like to know the brand because I like it but I found it at the bottom of my pile of spinnerbaits. EDIT: just caught a nice bass after posting this btw
  3. Wow thanks for all the links I enjoy reading this stuff
  4. I just bought some of that trilene for like 5 bucks just to have something to fish with but I'm gonna go try that yo - zuri hybrid when I can pick some up. Thanks guys
  5. Lol Idk why I even get fishing license because I forget my wallet in the truck 90% of the time I fish...
  6. Alot of people say 20lb braid is to little but I have 20lb braid on a lot of my baitcaster and I love it... Power pro super slick doesn't dig into your spool if you spool it tight like your supposed to but I've used other brands 20lb braid with success too...
  7. Get back to us on how you like them after they get wet! I've never bought siebert products and was thinking about ordering a bit of jigs and would like to hear what you think about them.
  8. Id pick up some KVD 1.5's and some H2O express CRS's both are similar and very good lures, I like the bomber square A's also.
  9. What are some good brands for small line like 6-8lb, I have a spinning rod I'm going to use for shaky heads, I wanted some decent line but don't want to spend a whole lot on it. What about Berkeley trilene has anybody tried it? Because its really cheap. And is 8lb line strong enough for finesse fishing and Shakey heads?
  10. He is saying that 0 - 30% of fish die not 0 - 30% survive BTW, at least I think that what he meant
  11. The worst part of fishing is when you feel great and ride 30 minutes out on a lake, then... Your stomach loses an argument with last nights supper haha! Happened to me today and boy I've never flew so fast in a boat lol
  12. I want to try the double fluke rig but never got around to it...
  13. I find it hard to believe cutting the line for a gut hooked fish is the right thing to do ( I still do it because everyone else does it haha ) a hook can take a month to erode out of his throat and that's a whole month without feeding if its obstructing his ability to swallow... Just seems like it would definitely kill the bass, maybe not quickly but eventually. I have caught bass and cleaned them and found hooks and fishing line in their stomachs before, its crazy how tough bass can be.
  14. There's a 11lb bass hanging on my grandpa's wall that was caught with a black trick worm haha we kept the worm and hook and have it hanging out of his mouth too
  15. I went out today with a Texas rigged fluke with a 1/8 ounce bullet on it and caught 2 bass so I guess it can work but I like the weighted hooks better.
  16. I hear a lot of people say that even if you handle a bass correctly there is a decent chance it can die after release, I have a pond in our yard stocked with bass and I catch them and release them back all the time and I have never seen a dead bass out there out of the 100s I've caught in it over the years... What do you guys think the survival rate is of properly handled bass? I'd say it would be darn near 100% bass are some tough fish...
  17. Hmm well I guess you should just experiment with some colors if you feel that's the problem, I like chartreuse with a black back, maybe you should give that color a try... What colors have you been trying?
  18. I love power pro super slick 8, for leaders I usually only tie one on in gin clear water but then again I never use high vis yellow braid I'm always using green... If your not getting bites try the leader and if you all the sudden start getting bit you will have your answer haha
  19. I love the H2O CRS, its my favorite squarebill to be honest.
  20. Yeah I'd say take a look at some of the H2O express lures at academy they are a good price and are good lures.
  21. Its cool to see that other people fish them this way, every time I catch a bass on one I get a bunch of memories from my first bass trips!
  22. I like the mag when I want a straight tail with a bigger profile and the mag has the same action but IMO it has a little less action than the normal sized trick worm but don't get me wrong the mag trick worm is a great product
  23. While color can make a difference you could probably catch bass on any color combination, just some colors might produce more than others under certain conditions. How are you fishing your squarebills? Squarebills like other crankbaits work best when deflected off cover, bumped on the bottom or just ripped through grass really anything that changes the direction/speed of the bait erratically. Dont be afraid of throwing squarebills into the thicker stuff because the squarebill is really good at deflecting and getting through cover
  24. Put it on a Texas rig weightless and use it like a buzz bait and you will love it! Using these as top waters is what got me into bass fishing and throwing around grass and hydrilla is fantastic. Just thought I'd throw this towards yall because Ive only ever seen one other person doing this! I like the colors green pumpkin and watermelon seed the most and they work great worked along the bottom like a traditional Texas rig too!
  25. Try the bruised banana color for trick worms! Its my confidence color when it comes to trick worms haha
