  1. Maybe it was a turtle. They poke their heads out of the water all the time
  2. Anything! tips to make my experience more enjoyable or tips to flat out just help me land some fish.
  3. Wow those are incredible fish, I would love to land one of those one day....
  4. I use the double uni for attaching backing as well...
  5. So my trolling motor just broke so looks like I'm gonna be bank fishing for awhile till it gets fixed or replaced... I'm gonna try bringing a medium heavy fast action rod with a 7.3 reel and a medium moderate action rod with a 6.4 reel does that sound about right? I also just organized all the tackle I'm gonna be using into a book bag for easy carrying. Now I just need some tips because I don't do much bank fishing besides the pond near my house haha
  6. Yeah I've been using a frog and had a bullfrog pop up to investigate then try to eat it.
  7. Man getting skunked never feels good... I had 3 fish get off the hook so I guess I got them to bite but man I hate not landing a fish all day. It'd be easier if a freaking jet ski or super boat didn't fly by doing 60 every 5 minutes. I hate crowded public waters with a passion. It'll be awhile before I go to that river/lake again.
  8. Ugh, due to this thread I have to purchase a whole new wardrobe of clothes...
  9. I've tied this before but haven't messed with it in quite awhile... I'll look back into it.
  10. I'll do this, sounds like it'll solve all my problems with the Palomar.
  11. I use the weighted one and the weightless ones and I like them
  12. A 6.4:1 gear ratio reel on a medium moderate rod with 20lb power pro super slick and a square bill crankbait.
  13. I use 20lb power pro super slick for my square bills and it doesn't dig in. With other lures like light trick worms or something it probably would dig in.
  14. Hey you gotta make due with what you have haha those cranks you mentioned surely will catch fish.
  15. I guess I'll suck it up and tie the Palomar because its better than the improved clinch.
  16. I've used a trailer hook when walking a frog in open water with success but don't even think about it in cover...
  17. Try squarebill crankbaits around any hard cover! They always seem to produce for me, bump and bang them off cover for the best results!
  18. What rod and reel are you going to be throwing your square bills with and what line? The square bill is the best starting place when it comes to fishing crankbaits. Just remember that cover is your best friend with these cranks and bump and rip them through what you can find for best results. What squarebills are you starting with?
  19. Okay sorry, my go to bait around Cyprus trees is the squarebill crankbait. Just throw it close to them and bump it off the stumps for best results, you will get hung up every now and then so if your bank fishing and don't wanna lose lures id try something else.Try slow, fast, and moderate speeds and throw in a couple stops and goes. If they don't bite a squarebill just go home
  20. And it always seems that when I make a huge loop to get a big lure through I end up with a long tag end and wasted fishing line.
  21. Right after reading this I dropped my brand spanking new tatula on the ground and scratched it. Ugh... I guess it didn't break so that something...
  22. Then don't rip a barbed hook out.I've had times when I gut hook a fish and wish I was barbless but with a normally hooked fish I've never thought going barbless would put less stress on a fish.
  23. They have plenty of action Texas rigged?? I used them on a drop shot and it worked pretty good.
  24. I like the uni knot and double uni knot but don't use them often except for saltwater. I'll give them another try
