  1. It could very well have been one of these although I've never seen one "poke its head out" but have seen then roll on the surface. I have caught more bowfin with top water frogs than any other lure
  2. I use zoom flukes alot and some other "freshwater" soft plastics, I've also used booyah spinner baits with success in salt water
  3. To catch the bigger one you could try to get a crayfish and let it run around on the bottom and drag it around every now and then
  4. when I doing something like wading I have to bring one rod usually spinning but I think I'll bring 2 rods for my bank fishing because I want to be able to use stuff like jigs but also be throwing crankbaits...
  5. I throw square bills more than any other lure so I'll try tossing then in tight quarters with a pistol grip and see if I like it!
  6. Never thought of using them for scenarios like this...
  7. I'll try this glue thanks guys
  8. I love reading stuff like this
  9. Natural colors or dark colors should work just pick your poison, throw in a couple really bright colors every once in ahwile and your golden lol!
  10. Thanks guys all the tips help alot! Some of the most fun I've had fishing is wading out in the swampy area near my grandparents house and catching bowfin....
  11. how do you fix tears in soft plastics?? Do you use a glue of some sorts?
  12. I've had much more success using smaller baits like you said but there are days when I've pulled some good sized bass out with big worms, but to each his own
  13. Just depends how much line you want to save... Just be careful not to have to little main line to where the backing shows after a long cast/pulled drag...
  14. Yeah, I always save the plastics if they have the original action and I can get a hook it em'
  15. Its hard to leave all your tackle at home and bring just what you need... I wish I could take it ALL!
  16. lol I'll have to try some! If they taste anything like speckled perch then I'm in!
  17. I've done good with 12" worms and big weights in hydrilla...
  18. Ya I saw that video and tried it And it worked pretty well!
  19. Yup, bright colors in bright light, dark colors in darker conditions
  20. I've been using the berkly power worms that are 12 inches and they seem to hold up pretty good....
  21. Are yellow perch good eaten? Edit: Is there yellow perch in south Georiga?? Never caught any myself...
  22. I can't give any frogging tips because I'm not very good at it myself but if you really wanna get the big girls out try punching through the hydrilla with big 12" worms, Just make sure you are using some tough worms or they won't last long.
  23. I might throw my bantam 100 on one again just for fun haha
  24. I still have some 30+ year old pistol grip rods that used to be on all my bantams and diawas and I haven't used them in a loooong time. Does anyone ever like to throw these once in awhile? I'm not old enough to have used them when they were brand new but my folks told me back in the day all anyone used was one handed pistol grips haha...
  25. I want to get better on jigs as well, I've caught fish on them but not many. My birthday is in 2 days and all I asked for is some jigs and trailers haha!
