It could very well have been one of these although I've never seen one "poke its head out" but have seen then roll on the surface. I have caught more bowfin with top water frogs than any other lure
when I doing something like wading I have to bring one rod usually spinning but I think I'll bring 2 rods for my bank fishing because I want to be able to use stuff like jigs but also be throwing crankbaits...
Thanks guys all the tips help alot!
Some of the most fun I've had fishing is wading out in the swampy area near my grandparents house and catching bowfin....
I've had much more success using smaller baits like you said but there are days when I've pulled some good sized bass out with big worms, but to each his own
Just depends how much line you want to save... Just be careful not to have to little main line to where the backing shows after a long cast/pulled drag...
I can't give any frogging tips because I'm not very good at it myself but if you really wanna get the big girls out try punching through the hydrilla with big 12" worms, Just make sure you are using some tough worms or they won't last long.
I still have some 30+ year old pistol grip rods that used to be on all my bantams and diawas and I haven't used them in a loooong time. Does anyone ever like to throw these once in awhile? I'm not old enough to have used them when they were brand new but my folks told me back in the day all anyone used was one handed pistol grips haha...
I want to get better on jigs as well, I've caught fish on them but not many.
My birthday is in 2 days and all I asked for is some jigs and trailers haha!
