  1. Wow, WAY too many books to choose from! But if you held a gun to my head... Blood Sport (A Journey Up The Hassayampa) by Robert F. Jones. I first read it around 12 years old and probably read it half a dozen times before it was lost somewhere. Unfortunately it's out of print and not in e-book format. I need to buy a used copy off of Amazon one of these days and reacquaint myself with this amazing book.
  2. Have you already fished a Conquest? I understand they won't be available to the general public until this fall?
  3. The first time I bought fluoro to use for leaders with braid I bought Sufix fluoro leader material and it worked fine. Then I started buying bigger spools of castable fluoro for leaders instead because it was much cheaper. I would definitely try it. The only downside I see is you may like it better than your current P-Line and start spending more $$ on leader material...
  4. My preferred method of fishing is with a jig/craw. Followed closely by a jig/craw.
  5. Congrats and thanks for sharing. If you had told us this was a skin mount I would have believed it. That's probably the most realistic replica I've ever seen!!
  6. Thank you for the suggestion SC.
  7. I like to catch fish as much as anyone, but I'm not going to cut a fishing trip short because I haven't caught a fish. I know when I leave my house how long I'm going to fish and it only gets cut short for bad weather or family emergency. I go for the "fishing" part. The "catching" makes it more fun, but the "fishing" still makes the time enjoyable and well spent.
  8. Looks like that fish might be 1.53 kilograms. Wrong setting on the scale maybe? I've done that before.
  9. I have a G. Loomis 2-power (medium) casting rod that is rated similar to other manufacturer's ML (1/8-3/8 ounce). It is my river smallmouth rod and is used for finesse jigs, light jig heads/plastic, and light t-rigs (all 3/16 ounce lead or less).
  10. The only presentation people seem to agree on that SHOULDN'T use a fluorocarbon leader is top water. Other than that you can use FC on any presentation you want (or tie your bait direct to braid - your choice). Some use a FC leader because it's more abrasion resistant than braid or it's easier to break off when snagged or maybe it's less visible to the fish in clear water. And as was said above there are lots of good mainline-to-leader knots to choose from. Some are easy, some are complicated, some are smaller than others. But they all work well when tied correctly. Pick one and learn to tie it correctly every time and you will be all set. I learned the uni-to-uni and that's what I use.
  11. Thank you Turtle135. My phone and TV call this "Screen Mirroring" and this definitely works for me. I didn't realize "Casting" was the same thing. OK so it looks like I will be able to watch MOTV videos on my TV. Any other MOTV subscribers have any feedback good or bad?
  12. Thanks for the suggestion. Agree that doing internet related things on a phone is a pain but I really don't have a use for a computer at home (or I'd already have one). Hoping that I can cast MOTV to my television, that would be ideal for me.
  13. Thanks. I don't own a computer and would have to watch from an Android smart phone. I'm sure I would get used to watching them on a 5" screen but would rather cast it to my TV. I think this will be possible, but hoping a member here will be able to verify it is possible from an Android phone.
  14. Thanks for the feedback Megastink. I would also only watch fishing shows (I don't hunt) and would watch all shows you mentioned and then some. Do you watch from their website on your phone or do you use their Android app? Do you cast the shows onto a television when you watch them? Thanks Tim. Do you cast to a TV from a smart phone? Do you use the Android app or the website? Someone in another thread mentioned the current MLF Championship being televised on CBS here in the States would be available on MOTV this fall.
  15. I'm wondering if anyone here subscribes to MOTV (My Outdoor TV) and what they think? I downgraded my DirecTV package a couple months ago and lost a bunch of channels that I recorded fishing shows from and MOTV looks like a great way to get them back and then some. Plus my subscription to In-Fisherman magazine runs out in October and I could continue getting the magazine as part of my MOTV subscription. Looking at the FAQ section on their website I'm a little confused on how easy/difficult it would be to cast what I'm watching from my Android phone to my Smart TV. Is this easy? Also the feedback on the Android app in the Google Play Store has lots of feedback saying the app doesn't work very well and is glitchy. Any info from MOTV subscribers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  16. Watched my dad do this on his pontoon about 5 years ago. Motor wouldn't start at the dock. Drove to local marina to ask for advice and guy behind the counter said "Did you check the kill switch?". My dad says, "Yeah, I checked that and it was fine". "Well it sounds like the kill switch is engaged, maybe check that again first". We get back in the car and my dad looks at me and says "I didn't even know it HAD a kill switch!". Sure enough that was the problem....
  17. "My name is Steve-O and I'm addicted to river smallmouth fishing." Welcome to Bass Resource El Cheapo. The disease is real...
  18. You've never fished with my buddy Phil......
  19. Sorry Mr. O'Steen, we fish VERY different water and I'm no help whatsoever. But... Welcome to Bass Resource! I'm sure you will get some great suggestions from the members here.
  20. You fell asleep on the pond bank and dreamed it? You overindulged in hallucinogenics?
  21. My experience with Gliss is the exact opposite. After trying it once I just "can't say yes!".
  22. Trilene knot for me. I use it for every line type.
  23. It's already been mentioned but can't be stressed enough - go to a retailer and try on the glasses before you buy! Before I bought my Costas I tried on lots of frames at a BPS until I found the frame that was really comfortable and (let's be honest) looked good on me! ha-ha Then I ordered that specific frame and the lens color I wanted from Amazon and saved about 70 bucks from retail price.
