  1. I really wanna try those Ima Flit jerkbaits but I'm just not spending $17 on one bait.
  2. Grabbing the line is something I learned not to do on "Schooled by Denny Brauer" years ago. He'd always scold the dudes for this. Funny though, I see it at least 20 times every Saturday morning done by the pros so....
  3. Good to see more Mainers! Im in that area and have fished those stretches a lot. Sal, have you tried a senko style bait in there yet? Probably one of the most productive baits I have used in there. Also a green tube jigged over the rocks is hard to beat as well. And the next time im in there I'm going to try a drop shot with a small finesse worm on em.
  4. You all have me thinking about Seafoam now darnit! I usually use Marine Stabil; do you think it would be bad to use both?
  5. ...my 597 and 798 to clean the whole screen?
  6. Uuuggghhhh...stop it! I'm getting creepy crawlies just thinking about that!
  7. This like you OP?
  8. Stabil Marine in everything.
  9. I always kinda chuckled at Trokar's claims but a couple of years ago I tried their straight shank worm hook and will now use no other. I use their tube hooks as well and fish just stay buttoned on them. when I need more EWG's guess what brand I'm buying?
  10. I use a 4/0 straight shank Trokar worm hook for my worm needs.
  11. Your grooved eye is your main problem without a doubt. That will fray braid in a pair of seconds. Next, do learn to close your bail by hand. Not exactly sure why it works...it just does. And finally, make sure you're not overfilling your spool. A too-full spinning spool will pour off line and make a mess. :
  12. Yup yup, I've tried a lot of brands and so far, Power Pro Super Slick is my favorite. You didn't mention if this is on a spinning setup or a baitcaster. If it's on a spinning setup, are you closing the bail by hand? If not, get into this habit. It has stopped all line twist for me. If it's on a baitcaster, what lb line are you using? You may be using too small a line and having digging issues. I literally get years and years out of my braid.
  13. I like too many to call one a favorite but if I had to choose 1 genre for the rest of my life:
  14. 2 words.... super glue works great!
  15. I didn't mean to make it sound like Zoom costs too much, just looking for another option. Lotsa guys use the generic "senko" style stickbaits that you can buy in bags of 100 that cost a fraction of GY Senkos, and work exactly the same. Just looking for that option I guess.
  16. So I had a good Magnum Fluke bite yesterday and used up my last couple of packs. Does anyone know of a good substitute that may be a little cheaper than the Zoom?
  17. Gut hooked trout? I usually like a treble in their back...the bass get hooked up better like that.
  18. I went to the pub last night and saw a fat chick dancing on a table. I said, "Nice legs." The girl giggled and said, "Do you really think so." I said, "Definitely! Most tables would have collapsed by now."
  19. For my 400th post:: I was talking to a girl in the bar last night. She said, "If you lost a few pounds, had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right." I said, "If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you." *********** Edited by Moderator
  20. Uhhhh, actually I'm Smokin....
  21. Don't forget a swimbait!
  22. Can't say that enough. Tourneys are exciting but try not to let it rattle ya. Just go out there and fish how you normally would.
  23. I think the red sprays work well. The big thing you must remember is: I have seen people put vaseline/chemicals on the terminals before assembling. Big no-no. You want a good, clean, bare lead to lead connection. So, clean both the battery terminal and cable end well, assemble dry and clean, then put whatever chemical you want over the terminal/cable end.
  24. Was thinking the same thing.
  25. A couple of my favorites:
