  1. Yup. Plenty of other proven knots that are a ton easier to tie than that contraption; uni-uni, blood, Albright...
  2. Trying to keep the Yak Monkey away but he's pounding on the door. I'm not saying I'm gonna, but if I was to look into getting a kayak, what are some of the basics I would look for? I think I would want a sit on top. What kind of length do most use? How much should one weigh? And do these look like something I would want to look into? http://maine.craigslist.org/for/5121441421.html http://maine.craigslist.org/boa/5121725082.html Thank you
  3. Braid is by far the easiest to cast on a baitcaster, imo. Spool up with 20# Power Pro Super Slick, tie on a rattle trap, adjust the reel correctly (in vid below) and go to town. And I would start out with the spool a little on the tight side and loosen it up as you get more comfortable casting and learn when and how to feather the spool with your thumb. Don't be scared; it's a piece-o-cake. You'll love it.
  4. I stopped fishing one of my favorite bass lakes due the overrun of Northerns in there.
  5. Any of these look familiar?
  6. Fixed that for ya
  7. Congrats! But no story? C'mon, we wanna hear about it!
  8. Much agreed! I prefer water I can track a small animal across.
  9. Nice report Maine! Glad to see you're keeping up your reputation for good fish.
  10. I would say that if you aren't breaking off and you don't have line pinch issues (on a baitcaster), then you should be mint. Sometimes you may get line pinch with too small diameter braid on a baitcaster.
  11. I'll echo that if there are bass suspended but no baitfish around, they are notoriously the hardest to catch. I would throw a few at them and if nothing in about 3 minutes would move on. As far as contact when cranking, this is the only way I ever get bit is by keeping constant bottom contact with my bait (except a lipless crank). I reel down until I touch bottom, then just slowly crawl it along the bottom with a sweeping motion, pause to reel up slack, then sweep again. Most hits come on the pause.
  12. There ya go brother. Let us know how it comes out.
  13. C'mon cat! You know better than that. Take it all back apart, go spend the whole $14 on new inner and outer bearing and race sets with a new seal and do it right the first time. sanded the race.... Of course I'm just bustin your chops but seriously go get all new bearing sets and a seal and you should be good to go.
  14. Love the smiles! And the red, white and blue nail polish.
  15. ^^^This. Great guy and company. Just the 4th of delay.
  16. I'm going tree fiddy on this one
  17. For bass=green pumpkin TRD Ned rig. For everything=inline spinner.
  18. Dang! Talk about being in the zone. What a great day. And for those that don't understand a frog hookset, this is a great example (except one lol) of the bite, pause and set. Every one was textbook. Shane, I'm comin down!
  19. I have 15,000 sq ft of grass and I typically push it because it leaves better lines (my lawn is another of my hobbies). If I miss a mow and it becomes too long to push, I have a rider but I really don't like to use it. I do use it in the fall for a last, short mow and to bag the leaves though. When I push, I'm usually out there 1.5-2 hrs which includes trimming the rock walls, driveway etc... Although since my elbow surgery my boys have been doing it so I don't really care how long it takes...
  20. I have been wanting to make one of these for a while now and you just lit the fire. Would it be a bad thing to lay it down though? I was thinking of a slightly longer version of what you have but leave one side empty. Then put some concrete in the middle of the tube and sink it so it lays down lengthwise. It would be shallower but cover more bottom. I want one off my favorite point in about 25 fow.
  21. Wanting to do and actually doing are 2 different things. Just ignore him; all he's trying to do is get your goat. Take the high road. And if you happen to meet at the ramp, well..... On another note; you used to be able to download that pic and the one on the first page from BassMaster website as a desktop background. I can't find where you can anymore. Anyone know if we still can?
