  1. Dang! That's a pretty ride!
  2. Well played sir. I was wondering if someone would pick up on that.
  3. Do what's best for you, my friend. Our health is our most important asset.
  4. Welcome. Read, search, watch vids; it's all right here.
  5. I'll never let it die! I'll fight it tooth and nail!
  6. May have just been some crud sucked up in a jet or passage. Hard to tell until it happens again on a regular basis.
  7. Just kinda brainstorming, I think the best way to attack it would be to have 2 guys, same boat, same day, throwing same bait in different colors. If you go out one day with one color and another day with a different color, theres a huge variable.
  8. That's the best way to figure it out! Nice work.
  9. Welcome!
  10. Here's my mess... 96 16' Nitro with 75 Merc; 10' kayak with Lowrance 4X and 14' canoe.
  11. A couple from today
  12. Couldn't have said it better myself. The reason many will say braid is it's the fix. Imo, you shouldn't have to set the hook that hard if you are using the right equipment. If you like fluoro, go for it but I have tried it a few times on my jig rod and experience the exact same thing as OP; I go back to braid/leader and boat fish. It's as simple as that. Flouro, to me, literally feels like a rubber band. OP, you're not stickin them as hard as you think you are.
  13. We have the Maine Airshow going on this weekend. I went yesterday and going again in about an hour. What an awesome show! They have a bunch of planes but the show stopper is the new F22 Raptor; just amazing. If you haven't watched any vids on what this plane can do you should youtube it; it's incredible. I have this spot in a field I go to where they bank and fly right over your head. Blue Angels are great of course too. Here's a pic I took with my cheap phone to give you some reference of how close the come.
  14. Well, I have had some huge numbers days; I mean huge; with 2 of us boating 147 one day and 189 another, 1 day was around 5 hrs and the other about 6. Last Sunday we caught 90 in 4.5 hrs and more days like that. But, our weight is down. I attribute that to the fact that we have discovered the Ned for one thing. Another is we stopped throwing jigs. Not for any other reason than we are having great success with other baits but just smaller fish. I'll be honest with you, I don't mind some of the numbers days we have had, even if our biggest was 3-3.5 lbs. Sure, I have an itch for a big fish but I don't get to go very often so when I do, I like to whack em! I recently bought a kayak, put a finder on it with some other accessories and plan on hitting a small pond that always produces at least a few 7's and an 8 every year through the ice. Carry in only so it really doesn't get fished during the summer. I'm on vacation the week of Oct 12th and you'll find my truck parked on the roadside of said pond every morning. Then I'll be looking for a sow....
  15. Congrats guys!
  16. I understand that but he said he wanted it for his frog setup. I would think that looking up against the sky, black line would be the most visible line you could have.
  17. 1.5 outstretched arm lengths to be exact
  18. Good fish Hootie!
  19. To be honest with you, black braid is going to show up better looking up against the sky than any other color would. But if you are insistant about using black, just run a black Sharpie up the first 6 ft of your line.
  20. ^^^Split the difference and go 3/16
  21. I agree that the bait is made to get bit but at the same time I like a little durability to them. I would say I was able to get 4-5 fish per bait. Only had 1 pack with me and shed a tear when I rigged my last one. I'm headed to Dicks or Cabelas before my next trip for sure.
  22. My buddy and I took the yaks to a small, remote carry-in pond Sunday. I had heard it was very clear so I brought some natural colored baits. When I was loading up, I threw in some Keitech Fat 3.8 in Sexy Shad that I bought a few years ago because everyone raved about them, so naturally you have to buy them. I usually fish pretty green water so I have never thrown them but I threw them in the box. Well, I caught 41 and he caught 49 in 4.5 hrs. Most of mine were on that swimbait, the others on a motor oil Powerbait worm. He fished a Pumpkinseed Senko all day. I noticed that all but 1 came on the initial fall. I was fishing in 10-11 ft, grass bottom and if I didn't get bit on the first fall, I didn't get bit. May I ask what you guys are using for hook/weight setup? I just TX rigged them on a 4/0 Gammy EWGW, pegged 3/16 weight at the nose. Needless to say I have a new bait in my arsenal.
  23. 6? I assume you still have the same bait? I've caught over 50 on one stinkin bait! Amazing.
  24. Both of these. I like a 4/0 EWG offset Worm for craws and a 4/0 straight shank worm hook for my worms. I like Gammys for my offset hooks and Trokar for my worm hooks. You stick a fish with a Trokar and it comes in the boat.
  25. I've never thrown a Sammy but some other factors come into play as well. While the "110" and "115" are the length in mm, obviously the shorter will be a little more difficult to cast (I have found anyway), weights can vary and depth can vary as well (on diving baits). This comes down to the match-the-hatch theory of what size bait they happen to be chasing that particular day.
