  1. Sweet report Maine!
  2. Welcome to BR! Hey, do they really have SCMODS in Joliet?
  3. As others have said, the original is odorless and not defective. The original, odorless version is not meant to be an attractant like many scented products are. It is an amino acid product which a bass can taste once the bait is in the mouth, therefore making the fish hold the bait a hair longer than he would without it, giving the gunslinger that split second longer to stick him. It can also help cover human scent, Mountain Dew spilled in the tackle bag etc...
  4. My kitchen sink faucet started to leak (10 yrs old) so I emailed Moen to ask about purchasing a replacement seal kit for it. I gave them the model it was and so on and a day later I get an email back saying the replacement parts had been shipped. I called them to say that I didn't even give them a Visa card or paypal info and they proceeded to tell me that all Moen faucets are lifetime warranteed. They sent me a seal kit and new faucet cartridge; all no charge and no questions asked. It was the easiest procedure I've ever encountered. If you are in the market for a new faucet or other fixtures that Moen provides, I'd look their way. They may be a few dollars more than some economy faucets but they sure stand behind them. Even after a time frame where I would expect a small leak here or there due to wear and tear.
  5. Congrats Blue Brother
  6. I looked at those and they seem like a tarp to me; but lots of people swear by them.
  7. If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
  8. Ya know, my first thought was a spinner as well. But then I think back to the last 2 years of discovering the Ned; and I know some are sick of hearing about it but I've caught bass, crappie, pickerel, brookies, browns, yellow perch, white perch, bluegill...basically everything that swims in my waters on them pretty consistently.
  9. I'm not moving to NC anymore....
  10. Thanks AJ. I've tried the sprays and they just don't last too long. There are great reviews on that TX wash in repellent though. Anything to be concerned about with the washer machine itself?
  11. I'm interested in hearing some other opinions as well but here's my thoughts. I don't think it will affect anything but I suppose it's a possibility in very shallow, clear water. If you are deeper than, maybe, 6-8 ft or if the water has any color to it, it isn't going to matter. My other thought is that it's very difficult to keep aluminum polished up like that, so it's probably going to oxidize and haze over by itself pretty soon anyway. I wouldn't put too much work/thought into it any time soon. Go and enjoy that thing, fish and see what happens. Oh, and welcome to BassResource!
  12. I looked into the Nikwax Tech Wash and now I'm confused. Which one...Softshell proof or TX Direct? I don't even know the difference between a softshell and hardshell.... There's no Gore-tex; just what Cabelas calls DryPlus. And the pants are just nylon layered pants. Basically just light weight raingear so whichever would be most waterproof.
  13. I have some Cabelas raingear I bought about 3 yrs ago and it's lost its ability to shed water. What are you guys using these days to re-waterproof? Wash them in some solution? Scotchguard spray?
  14. ^^^Glad to hear you had good success; although it's not surprising. It's a fun way to catch them after throwing the usual jigs, cranks etc... Enjoy the new thing.
  15. I thought about this the other day Deak; good point. I, as many others, are members of different forums in different hobbies...ie, bodybuilding, musclecars, mercury outboard forum, Rugar forum and the list goes on. I can't think of another forum where I have the ability to contact a designer like Big-O. And to have him reply as professionally as he does and share his knowledge is something you don't get every day. I tip my hat to him.
  16. I'm just waiting for them to hit Cabelas where I have a gift card! I, too, love the Rage line and I'm sure this will be a great product. And with the extra bait in the package it's a no brainer.
  17. With braid and a fluoro leader, you have about the most sensitive setup I could think of. Senkos are known for being a swallowed bait and we've all had that happen. The only other thing I could recommend is try to have the line run over a finger tip; you have some extra sensitivity there and sometimes I feel the "tick" there when I don't see it in my line. EDIT: Wizard above me beat me to it. And, yes, that braid will remind you if you don't move your finger on a hookset!
  18. I think Wildbillb has more people interested in where to get them than the differences!
  19. ^^^That's what it's all about! Those swim nicely on a Rage rig too. Good luck with the monkey!
  20. It's the bed of a 22.6
  21. I have to politely disagree. Completely different falls.
  22. This reminded me of something you would have to see to believe but I swear it's the truth. My buddy had a horse tied to one of those old, metal swingsets (this was a long time ago). Well it pulled the swingset loose from the ground, it fell over scaring the bejeeses out of the horse, horse takes off down across the yard with entire swingset chasing it, runs into an '82 Monte Carlo, dies right there and totaled the Monte; bent frame. One of those things you just stare, wide mouthed and say "Did that really just happen...." And sorry to see that rod 00!
  23. I'm so sorry to hear about Gizmo. Non-pet owners just don't understand that when you have them that long, they really are a member of the family. Time will help you.
  24. Lots of thoughts running through my mind. First off, are you from the bank or boat? If you are stranded to the bank then you have no choice. I'd find shoreline cover, be stealthy both walking and with your presentation. Big girls should be shallow right now anyway. If you have a boat, I would fish this lake/pond year round and at all different depths depending on water temp/time of year. If there was 1 giant, there's others, and during the summer, I would bet most would go deep. I also think the clarity may get better the deeper you go. As for now, I too would be shallow with a chatterbait, big squarebill (BIG, like the KVD 8.0), big swimbait or a jig. And no one has asked, but we are all thinking it; was the fish weighed on a scale or was the 18 an estimate?
  25. Nice day dude!
