  1. Great write up shimmy. Always enjoy seeing your results. I’ve yet to hit otter county. You need to work for their Tourism Bureau.
  2. What frydog said. I have been known to sit in my boat in the garage in March looking at my waypoints on my graph...planning my opener strategy. An additional question is about the batteries. Do most people unhook them and remove them for the season? I have left left them in connected and charged them occasionally. I think this was hard on them as there was a small slow draw. I had to replace two of the three and they were only a couple years old. This year im debating whether to disconnect them entirely and charge them occasionally....or just keep the charger on them the whole time. What do people do with their batteries? My garage is warmer than outside but not heated so it gets cold.
  3. Out in the west metro. Water temp was 47-48. Fishing was slow. Caught 7, mostly on a crankbait. All fish hit 5-7 feet of water.
  4. Was on a south metro lake today. Water temp at 54. Threw jigs and spinnerbait. Got several strikes but landed nothing. Got zipped. Will be be out tomorrow. Looking for a lake with a deeper weedline to see if that changes my luck. I expect the bite to be slow. Hope I will have the patience!
  5. frydog I sure hope you are right. Fall fishing always seems to go by so quickly. I hope to be out yet this weekend a few times. Hope I get bit. Will report back water temps.
  6. Was out on Saturday on a metro lake. 60 degrees. Water was warmer than the air. Felt good to dip into the water! Heres to hoping water stays above 50 for a bit longer. Caught a few on a ned rig near grass in 6-10 fow. Fish didn’t seem to be in a mood to bite.
  7. Thanks frydog. Were they bitin’ today? Headed out in the morn.
  8. Ok with bite detection being difficult at best...with some good discussion on how to be better at it, shouldn’t we then focus on how to get MORE BITES to take swings at the begin with? Thoughts and suggestions?
  9. I have both gen 3 and gen 4 premier baitcasters. They are both really nice reels. I would say my gen 4 is a bit smoother on the retrieve but can’t quantify it necessarily. One thing I can say for sure is that their customer service is class leading. Multiple interactions and all have exceeded expectations.
  10. Yes I do. It works really well. A time saver and is especially nice if you fish on your own quite a bit like I do. I love the Ulterra product concept. Give the concept an A. I give the concept execution a B+. Not an A due to the cord wrap issue. Mine will tighten up and sound like it’s going to break. I always get it out of spot lock, let it unwrap then reset spotlock. I give customer service a D. I have had to get mine serviced over 4 times. Lost a lot of time on the water. My last issue was found under the first year of the two year warranty. The local service dealer was trying to fix it but just couldn’t get it right. It took so long, the warranty expired while getting serviced. Got it back on my boat and it still wasn’t right. Called MK customer service only to be told “we won’t help as its out of warranty”. The local dealer ended up helping me and we finally got it squared away but it was clear MK was going to walk away from me (again, despite finding the issue well within my warranty). Only reason I didn’t give an F is they did replace a defective part under warranty for me. Just an honest opinion given my time with my Ulterra and dealing with MK customer service.
  11. A quick question for fellow Minnesotans. Have an Abu Premier baitcaster that is a year old. Broke just after the warranty went out. The reel won’t retrieve line...handle just spins. I live in in the south metro. Where is my nearest reel repair shop? I know thorne bros could fix it but Blaine is no where near me. Bass or not, with all the fisherman in the area I can’t believe there isn’t a shop for each four corners of the metro! Maybe repair shops are not needed as these days people just toss their reels and buy a new one? For me, I’m too cheap! However there is a limit. At what repair cost would it be considered totaled? $40? Thoughts and recommendations on a repair shop please.
  12. You are right. Especially with the exposure Mille lacs has had the past two years we have got to be in the top 5. When people learn I’m from Minnesota and we talk about where I want to end up for retirement, they always assume I will say Florida, Texas, anywhere warmer. No way. MN is a fisherman’s paradise. Really feel I have just scratched the surface of all the water this state has to offer. And yes...for bass...not walleye!
  13. For being In-Fisherman's 6th best state for bass fishing, I am shocked there aren't more MN bass dedicated forums. I sure am glad we have this one though. The MN Bass Resource community took some time to build a base of regulars. Its a great group and getting better. Welcome aboard!
  14. Ok that’s what I assumed. Also assume that you are picking weeds off with almost every cast? How deep are these weeds?
  15. What is this “thick green grass” ? Are we just talking seaweed?
  16. Or check this thread daily. Which I (cough cough) never do (cough cough). Kidding aside, This thread has actually turned into an up to date and reliable source of deals including eBay.
  17. A update on mine... My Ulterra spot lock also gave up but other issues happened too. A number of pieces replaced. Including the motherboard. Second season without a trolling motor that I paid $2,000+ for and it remains unfixed. Although CS rep has been good, she was unsympathetic about the downtime. I certainly hope they stand by their product.
  18. Fished Tonka today. It was hard fishing. Fish were still shallow around 5-7 fow. Found them tight to pads. Caught most on senkos and jigs. Definitely post spawn.
  19. Darren, take it easy on that back. These yaks are not the most conducive to pain free lower backs. Hate to see you off of the water.
  20. Marion was treated for zebras last year by the launch so check your boat and trailer a little extra...and encourage others to do so as well. I will PM you on some thoughts.
  21. Which side is the "right" side vs "left"? Looking at it from which side?
  22. Bass were definitely shallow today and tonight. Light colored senko did the trick for me. All in 3-6 feet of water.
  23. By chance do you have a link to info on this recall? I can’t find any info on it?
  24. Hey guys...a major uplift in sharing of what is working at what depth...from more metro fishers. I love to see this!
  25. Hey sully. What did u throw today? Caught 4-5 today but had to work for them. Light colored senko did it for me. Nothin on the jig.
