  1. Do you guys think the C-rig is a good year-round rig? I know as the weather heats up in the midday sun I throw them during summer but right now water temps are high 40's, maybe 50.
  2. I bought some gear at the BPS sale and on the list was a Pro Qualifier. I'm looking forward to using it. I've got it paired up with a new JM Carbonlite micro guide rod. I've got mostly Abu stuff but the guy was pushing BPS brands hard and I can respect that so I'm giving them a chance. Hope I love them both.
  3. By the way, good to see you, fellow Hog!
  4. Do you think tungsten makes that big a difference? I always throw lead but recently bought tungsten.
  5. I've always had a carolina rig in my tackle box as long as I've fished. I sometimes hear people talk as if it is their last resort method. I'm wondering if there's any of you guys who would rank it near the top and if so, what pointers would you offer when using this rig.
  6. Holy cow. I did not do good. I was fighting the wind more than I was fishing. Needless to say my trip didn't produce any valuable fishing information. I decided to pack it in and go arrange my tackle onboard. At least that was productive. I'm waiting for some good weather. Ouachita feels like an ocean in that main channel when that wind is whipping through.
  7. Good information guys. The spots I'll plug are the old transducer mount holes. Not a big deal but holes in boats don't go together! I'm pumped up to finally get a chance to mount my new graph and transducer. I feel like I'll finally be able to scan for structure now.
  8. Yep. Any time I go this year I'll be on it. I have my boat docked there so I just hop in and go. No launching. With that said, I'm committed to the lake, just need to learn it. It's huge and always wonder where to start.
  9. Tough question. Money is a great thing, and I mean a GREAT thing...but I toss my brother a bone. When the money runs out family is there for you. I know I'm in the minority. Oh well. I hate to see a family member suffer.
  10. Yeah, what got me thinking was I am trying to learn this 40,000+ acre lake here in AR which I don't know much about versus a small lake (which is nothing more than a river channel with a dam on each end) that I know blind-folded.
  11. Then I would ask why? Just curious to see what everyone says.
  12. I think the 4200 can dry in about an hour. It may be the permanent stuff.
  13. 3M has the 5200 silicone and the fast dry 4200 silicone. Has anyone used these products for sealing up holes? I have an aluminum boat and the product description doesn't mention aluminum surfaces but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Any suggestions? It's anywhere from $17 to $26 a pop so I'd like to get the right one.
  14. Dude! Where's the Power Pole? just kidding.
  15. I just ordered the Stern Saver from Tackle Warehouse because I didn't want to screw the transducer directly into the transom. Still waiting for them to ship it but the installation looks easy and the idea seems to be smart. I was dead-set on mounting my Humminbird down scan unit up front and on the trolling motor but a co-worker who knows a ton more about fishing and boats told me to mount it on the console because most of the time I will be cruising looking for structure, not trolling. My two cents.
  16. I have dreams about bowhunting like that too. I always miss the deer or don't have enough zip on the arrow.
  17. I'm saying you go all in and pimp that thing out! You gotta get a name for it and decal the transom.
  18. I am one of the four finance managers at the #1 Buick-GMC dealer in America, Everett Buick-GMC. We have been blessed to be the top Buick-GMC dealer for 3 years in a row. I handle your paperwork, interest rate, warranty, gap, credit life etc. So, go get you a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Duramax and jerk that Ranger boat to the lake! We support local anglers and one of our employees operates the Mr. Bass of Arkansas series. Fun thread by the way.
  19. I belong to a local gun club and shoot a lot. I own everything from pistols to an AR15 and the one gun I have nearby ready to go is a 12 ga Mossberg 500. I keep the tube filled with 00 buck and all I have to do is rack it one time (which is menacing enough in a dark house). I have always thought that a youth model 20 ga pump shotgun would be the perfect home defense weapon. Shorter barrel and stock but enough umph to kill. You don't have to be pinpoint with a shotgun and you don't have to worry about slugs (unless used) going through walls and striking objects including family members in other rooms. just my opinion...
  20. With all the work you did and how good it looks now, I'd be proud as heck of that thing! Good job.
  21. It's gonna be tighter than a dolphin's butt no matter how I do it.
  22. The cable runs right below a cup holder through the gunwale.
  23. I see said the blind man.
  24. Looks, price, reviews by peers (not pros), and past experience with said lure (not in that order). If a lure has worked for me then I will buy several colors of that lure.
  25. I'm installing a new transducer and graph and need to know what tool and where I would get it for snaking that 'ducer cable through the gunwale to the transom. It's tight underneath the dash, so what the heck do I use? Thanks.
