  3. Takes a bit to get ready for those cold days but if the waters not hard you can have some great days. Tight Lines
  4. Whooohooooo....After four hours of poking and proding and donating I'm heading to woods this morning...slowly. My worst fears were neutralized. Not outa woods but neutralized!! Tight Lines and thanks
  5. How bout fastened to the first guide of her brand new rod/reel outfit. Tight Lines and many happy years
  6. Black Friday is a day for hunting or fishing. I was planning on heading to woods with son this morning when my body did some strang things at 1:00 in morning. So it was a canceled trip and doc wants me to head to ER for tests. !?&% I hope it's something simple....so tired of going to doctors...but than again I'm glad I have the opportunity. Will have to see whats in our Good Lords plans. Tight Lines
  7. I too am fishing clearer waters here in Tenn now and also recommend the shorter leader...although I do love a 3" Yum Dinger. Color is huge...what works one day may not for many days later. Tight Lines
  8. Finally after several years I could care less about dipping. I truely enjoyed it....now I truely enjoy the extra energy and not having to rely on tobacco to start the day. P.S. Dang it was tough to quit....Nicorettes and real gum helped....good luck
  9. This going into my third year of hunting here in Tennessee and do so hope this will be the year I contribute to the freezer. Good thing my son is lucky or good!! He's managed to at least get one in freezer and this year it's two. Used to hunt when lived in Oregon and did fairly well...but about ten years of non hunting before moving to Tenn has got me rusty I guess. All I'm seeing is lots of tail and foot prints. (not even good soup here!!) Have to get used to this wide open woods and slowwwww down I guess. Take care and good luck
  10. It's always been a tradition with my son and I to take some of last years venison steaks along with some canned potatoes with onions. We slice and fry the potatoes with the onions till crispy and also fry the steaks hot and fast. This brings back memories of the hunt and time together is awesome...truely a gift from above.
  11. Very nice...good eats there.
  12. Good job Mike to you and yours. My wife and I had our 40th in June. Many years of total bliss...Not. But wouldn't have it any other way. We followed our kids to Tenn to be with grandkids.....what a gift from above.
  13. Good info.....thats what I'd do and have done. Not to hard to do yourself either but taking it to an expert saves lotta time and money
  14. Poison jig from do-it...one of my favorites for snag free fishing
  15. Lived in Oregon for sixty years and moved out east to be with the grand kids and experience a new adventure. It's been tight but worth it. Big thing is wife let me keep my boat (she's awesome). Have always tried to make my own baits from tying flys back in old days to pouring and tying jigs now for bass. Loved Oregon but it has really changed...it's still a slimerocket state (trout, salmon and steelhead) and thats all they care about so it's neat being in tennessee where for the most part if it swims it's respected. Tight Lines P.S. I do miss fishing the Columbia in spring and catching 50 to a 100 big smallies a day with hardly a person in sight!!
  16. Glad everyones ok
  17. Couldn't find my hair jig box that I had put a ton of work into so started a new one. This time though I decided to tie them weedless with the mono loop and am extremly happy and wonder why I haven't done this before. I use one strand of 20# silver thread fluro for the 1/16 and a double strand for the 1/8 and it is awesome. Fished most of the day with a 1/16 and never lost it and caught a bunch of fish including an 18 inch smally and a toad of a drum. Can hardly wait to hit em hard with the ol spin rod this winter. Experimented with eight pound fluro on the 1/16 and it falls nice and slow and I believe will be deadly on home waters. Anyway...tight lines to all
  18. I can ususally fish all winter here in east tennessee and even with water in low 40's at times have caught em shallow early and later in day. Drop shotting out deeper in 25 feet or so is usually more consistant though. Always keep eye on the graph while throwing towards bank.
  19. Yup...awesome family and being able to just the other day go fishing solo after my bout with acute pancreatitus. Wasn't sure a couple times if it would happen again. Tight Lines
  20. I truely enjoy watching the Seahawks....but only if it's not during the daylight hours when I can be either hunting for fishing! Tight Lines
  21. Sweet...good job
  22. Yup...loctite
  23. So glad to live in an area now where I can fish every month of the year. Am tying up hair flys right now in 1/16 and 1/8 for fishing the colder water this winter. My best days are usually the months of December thru March depending on the cold. Glad we don't seem to get hard water here...but cold is good. Tight Lines
  24. Why Not....Ya gotta be happy to show those two. First 8# 12oz Ground 4# 12oz Thank you for opportunity
