  1. Did you guys click Topo in the top right corner when you are in the program? It is set standard on "Map" which will have all the lakes blue in color. Satelite is also in the top right corner.
  2. Beast of a walleye.
  3. Small braid scissors. I think from rapala
  4. I fish most of my swim jigs in 1-5ft and a 1/4oz jig with almost any craw, grub, or swimbait trailer will have no problems doing what you want. But having a bulkier plastic trailer will help slow the fall. You mentioned a smaller swimbait and that is an excellent trailer 3.5-5" is perfect.
  5. You are correct the difference is the head shape. Most times a swim jig will have a cone shape. When I fish swim jigs it's usually on a steady retrieve with some short pops of the rod tip added in. Just enough to get the skirt to flare. There are a lot of ways to work a swim jig but this is standard for me.
  6. Nice baits FrogFreak. It'll be even better when you start landing some nice bass on them.
  7. Beast of a fish.
  8. That right there is funny chit. My wife thought I was the only insane guy on the planet pitching jigs in the winter. This here is proof that I am normal. Thanks buddy! As for the bait monkey.. He has all of us Northerners by the so buy stuff and be happy.
  9. A lot of good things have been mentioned thus far. What really keeps me motivated is self advancement and the unknown. Fishing is a lifetime of gaining knowledge and you never know when the next cast could yield the fish of a lifetime.
  10. If you can convince the MN DNR that a 7lber is a 9lber by pictures consider yourself hired! J/K J/K guys! But really Dwight send me a PM
  11. Good advice right here. I own 3 of the Revo's and can attest that they will last if you take care of them. I bought 2 of them the year they came out (2007 I believe) and they work like the day I got them.
  12. Another vote for the regular PP. Wasn't a fan of the Superslick.
  13. Might as well call it hail.
  14. Even though winter sucks the one great thing I will say about MN is there are so many smaller to mid sized lakes full of nice bass that maybe see a handful of bass fisherman a week. The pressure is nothing like down south. If I see 5 or more bass boats at the ramp I assume either its a holiday or a tournament because it is rare in my area.
  15. Mark I'd say it's happening hopefully it doesn't hit to hard. Just read about another MN lake having winter kill. Seen a picture from last night were the fisherman drilled a hole as big as a spearing hole and the crappies were swimming up to the surface for air.. Never good.
  16. I've already heard of one smaller shallow lake around my area that has experienced winter kill. Winter can eat a you know what at this point in time.
  17. It's a good rod. I've had mine for 3 years and it's put a lot of bass in the boat. A few muskies and nice pike too.
  18. I'm the type of guy who won't go within 100 yards of another boat and I never fish around dock/shore bound individuals. There is a whole lake no point in crowding people. That said if I can cast to your boat your to close. The worse is when someone comes roaring up full throttle 20-50 yards in front of my boat and anchors up. Usually it's walleye guys plopping their arse on the best spot.
  19. I use red, green, and brown craw patterns throughout the year for largies. In the spring these patterns really shine and the red craw is killer.
  20. Pike bite offs, Excessive winds, annoying jet skiers, and other fisherman who cut you off. I'm ok with sharing water as long as you don't come screaming in 50 yards in front of me and start fishing or anchor up on the best spot that i'm within 2 cast lengths.
  21. Up here it's somewhat normal but I've caught numerous muskies, bowfin, snapping turtles, and walleyes. The only "odd" catch i've seen was a pelican. My buddy and I were fishing for bass from shore around a dam and this hillbilly looking guy comes by us and starts casting a daredevil. He hooks a pelican (on the leg) and starts mumbling cuss words or something of that nature. The bird is trying to fly away and he is pulling like a mofo with his drag screaming out. I felt bad for the bird but given the situation my buddy and I were cracking up. Then he proceeds to say, "Ima gonna pull him ta shore and one of you two unhook em, that ther's my lucky daredevil." I told him he was F'in nuts if he thinks i'm grabbing that pelican and he can get his own daredevil. Eventually his line broke and he left shortly afterwards.
  22. Thanks man I have always wanted to make a trip up to Leech, wish it was a few hours closer. I know a few guys up in that area that nail some giants on jigs and chucking frogs in the wild rice every year.
  23. #1 is to get the wife on the lake more. Last year she only got out once which was brutal. I'll be chasing a 7lb MN largie as well.
  24. Good looking chunk right there
  25. Great fish guys! I'll go with 9.9 on the big girl
