  1. Best is yet to come guys. Was out 2 weekends ago and got on a bunch of 3-5lb fish and my father-in-law got his PB at 6.92lbs. Weighed on 2 different digital scales. Pretty awesome moment for the both of us. Going to spend all weekend looking for that 7lber!
  2. Good work as always Shimmy. Glad to see you got on those big girls up here.
  3. Awesome fish!
  4. GoPro is a great choice as others have said. Get the model you can afford and get a suction cup or the jaw clamp for the boat, whichever will work best for your situation. If you are shooting from shore find a way to mount it on a tripod or something stable. Head/Chest cams are ok, but if you move around a lot your going to make your viewers nauseous.
  5. If I'm catching big pike I'll look elsewhere. I have caught plenty of bass mixed in with small pike though. Just a month ago my father-in-law and I caught 90 bass in an afternoon and nothing short of 40 pike in the same areas on the same baits. Bass ranged from 1lb to 4lbs. None of the pike were over 3lbs. Sometimes you have to sort through them and other times you need to make a change in location.
  6. Fishing a jig in the spring and fall is hard to beat for numbers of large fish. Although it's hard for me to put down the swimbait these days.
  7. Those are some nice Northern Largies. Well done man.
  8. Fished for 3 hours on Saturday for the first time in 2 weeks. Caught 3 and lost 2. Biggest one went over 5lbs.
  9. 20$ is a steal good deal. I'm not really a fan of them but my father-in-law has fished the crap out of his for 4 years and it is still hanging in there.
  10. Longville is a nice area. My family stayed at Woman about 3 years ago and we did really well on the Smallies and Walleye and the view wasn't bad either. Landed some nice Largies there as well. If you decide on a bigger lake these guys gave you good options.
  11. Awesome fish. The swimbait game gets addictive.
  12. Nice fish regardless. She looks pretty thick. I'd say in the 8-9lb range, but hard to tell with the picture.
  13. That's a big Tiger. Congrats to him.
  14. Happens all the time and these are two good examples. That's the cool thing about the Pro's having GoPros in the boat now and better coverage during the Bassmasters. Hard to get away with throwing none sponsored baits.
  15. This is the last post I'll make in his thread. My original post was in regards to this sentence. The OP said he wanted to see what should happen in "Ideal conditions". I was trying to get him to realize that if he fishes public water that watching a fisherman catch 5lb+ fish all day long with little fishing pressure is far from ideal on many lakes in the US and most likely the ones he may be fishing. Bill does do a good job at teaching, but the outcome of Bill's efforts and the efforts of guys fishing on public water will differ in most circumstances. My first post was strictly talking about his fishing show now. I never bad mouthed his past accomplishments as a fisherman and attributions to the sport, exact opposite if you read the other posts I made. I would rather watch guys hash it out on public water and figure out fish on bodies of water that everyone has access to. There are plenty of guys doing it for the world to see and are good at teaching you the ropes in the process. Guess I see it different than many people on here. Like I said earlier, if you learn from him and it helps your fishing then keep on watching.
  16. Thanks Jeff! I hadn't fished the lake in 3 years and was surprised how many little hammer handles were in there. Didn't lose a single lure all day. I figured it was inevitable. It was nice to see some of the bass grow up in the lake as well. Looks like a windy weekend ahead of us.
  17. Is it though? You have bigger fish in a confined lake that are much easier to catch once they are found. Hunting a private pen/fenced area can be hundreds of acres. You still need to find the animal and execute a shot. The point is with both the odds are in your favor for landing/harvesting bigger species. If they weren't then people wouldn't fish or hunt there. See my post above. I'm not saying Bill is a bad fisherman and I'm also not denying the things he has done for this sport. I also never stated anything bad about his fishing ability or past achievements in my original post. My point is those fish are different animals then public water fish. Pressure alone makes fish act differently in public water and his show is far from an "ideal situation" when comparing it to what you should expect in your fishing trips. If you learn from his show keep on watching, nothing wrong with that. I for one see no merit in his show and if he can catch fish all over the US why doesn't he get on public water and do it? I feel that would relate more to the typical angler that watches his show. Plenty of people are out there making information shows, videos, and youtube channels and doing it on public water.
  18. It's like shooting big deer in a pen. It's not "cheating" because it's legal, but it isn't impressive to me or many others. Advertising and marketing is the name of the game for him these days, if it wasn't he'd get out on public water and show us actual "ideal outcomes". Just my .02
  19. Great info A-Jay and ww2farmer. This is a technique I need to try.
  20. I was having a so-so day fishing with my dad a few weeks ago pitching jigs, t-rigged craws, and throwing swimbaits. He pulls out a 7" powerbait worm and started racking up the quality bass. Reminded me really quick why I use to fish a lot of 7-10" worms.
  21. Homemade jerky, sandwiches, and granola bars.
  22. Keeping my mouth shut when other anglers knowingly cut me off. Walleye guys are usually the worse. They pull up within 20 yards and act like it's no big deal. I usually fire up the big motor and let them know how I feel about it. Jet skiers are a close second, followed by my struggles to fish deep and finesse baits.
  23. I could post a bunch of pics and video backing up Bluebasser86 pics but I think you get the point. I've caught more 6-8" bass on 7" glide baits this year then I care to remember.
  24. I split my time between the two about 50/50 but prefer smaller lakes due to being more relaxing. No added boat traffic from jet skiers and leisure boats is a plus in my eyes, but ultimately it's about catching fish.
  25. Forgot about this topic this year. Fished today for 6hrs and ended up with 90 bass and 40 northerns between my partner and I. Most fish came on squarebills in 6-10ft on the outside weed edge. Did manage a few on light t-rigs, jigs, and swimbaits. Ended up with 12 fish over 3lbs with big fish for the day at 4.02lbs.
