  1. http://www.bassmaster.com/sweepstakes Scroll down a ways and they have a list of sweepstakes that have ended, along with the winner of each one. Fishing with the pros, boats, electronics, reels, etc. If you don't believe it then maybe try looking the people up on google, facebook, etc to see if their real. Personally I don't care enough to look them up. I tend to think that most of these sweepstakes are legit, at least ones provided by bassmasters and other well established companies. With the amount of people that do enter it's not surprising that a lot of times you don't know or hear who wins unless the company post it publicly. The guy that I talked about from MN that won did post his on a public fishing forum.
  2. You keep that white stuff. We lucked out and only got an 1" the past few days. It's nice to finally see it melting.
  3. Feels like t shirt weather today, 35 and sunny.
  4. Not a truck or boat BUT, I know a guy from MN that entered Hummingbirds Backstage Pass sweepstakes to the Bassmasters Classic on Facebook recently. He just found out he won which involved a trip for 2 to the 2014 Classic all expenses paid, VIP passes, Custom Gibson Guitar, and he gets to be on stage with Mercer during the weigh-ins. Legit and an awesome trip.
  5. I'm just as happy fishing on the ice...... said no one ever Glad we have Ar-15's, 30 round clips and a lot of coyotes to mow down to relive my stress.
  6. I've used the snag proof bobby's perfect frog in multiple colors, including firetiger, and it walks the dog effortlessly. By far one of my favorite frogs. Hopefully the Pro Series is similar I've never used that specific model. The paint jobs on the Snag Proof are no Spro or Koppers but to me it's all about action.
  7. Bananas... Just to prove its skill and not luck
  8. X2
  9. Dude is a beast! My father-in-law always says, I curl pounders every day... at the bar.
  10. Ouch that was a close one.
  11. X2. I have dropped my touchscreen phone and had it ran over last week while coyote hunting. 3/4 of the screen is now cracked. Can't even feel the cracks with a screensaver on it. Still works like a champ too.
  12. That right there is funny. Kids don't swim in the water.. My first thought was they were not Largemouth bass as well.
  13. Along with what gets answered here these 2 links will give you input on swim jig trailers. I give my go to baits in the second link. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/124095-swim-jig-trailers/page-2?hl=+swim%20+jig%20+trailer http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/117240-swim-jigs-trailers/?hl=%20swim%20%20jig%20%20trailer
  14. That makes 2 of us.
  15. Congrats on the nice fish!
  16. Congrats that's a great opportunity. Keep us filled in on the details.
  17. Who's the real sucker here
  18. I thought it was a fisherman catcher when I first seen it and my thoughts haven't changed. They'll catch fish like any other crankbait, but not because they think it's a "baitball" shoved into a single profile crankbait. I didn't buy a scatter rap either..
  19. I keep it between 40-65 for the most part, but I have one with 20lb. With the drag set correctly I have no issues with it.
  20. I'd start with the jig. You can fish it on the bottom to imitate crawfish, swim it like a spinnerbait, pitch and flip it into heavy cover, overall it's a more versatile bait. I see your from Wisconsin and I'm assuming your lakes have an abundance of weeds. The jig will come through the weeds better and not get hung up as much. I use to fish a lot of spinnerbaits, but ever since I picked up a swim jig about the only time I throw spinnerbaits is on windy days.
  21. I fish hollowbody frogs most of the time so I can fish it slower and let the frog sit in one spot for an extended period of time. I can't stress the bolded portion enough. You'd be surprised how long you have to let that frog sit at times. Hook up ratios depend on what you consider a strike. As Mark said, are we talking all blow ups or are we talking when they actually suck in the bait, swim off with it, and you can feel them pull? If you give the bass time to eat the bait to me you should be around the 70% land ratio. If your counting all blow ups or having premature hook sets then I can see the 30% or less. I'd be curious to know if Ish and Rojas are talking all blow ups or actual hooked fish in their %'s. Hooligan I know you are a good fisherman and have top of the line gear I don't doubt your abilities one bit. When the ice melts and we get some frog fishing cover I'll get the GoPro out and record a day. I guess then we'll see what my land ratio is for sure.
  22. I would get a rod 7'6" or longer H action rod with a fast tip. A MH would be ok but I'd lean towards a H for dedicated c-rig rod.
  23. I've been trying to do non open water fishing related things and focus on work, coyote hunting, and ice fishing. That way come March and April I can clean the reels, organize the tackle, boat prep, etc etc.. It's been one long and cold winter.
  24. My dad introduced me to bass fishing by showing me the texas rig, which is all he ever did when he rarely bass fished. I was hooked after my first fish. He was a hardcore muskie/walleye guy and he taught me a lot about targeting those species. My passion was bass fishing so I have been self taught besides tossing a t-rig around pencil reeds. Now he is getting back into bass fishing so I can return the favor and teach him a thing or two. I have also taught a lot of other family members and friends how to bass fish and progress with new techniques. It's just as fun to watch them be successful as it is catching fish yourself.
