  1. Fresh and Salt Spider Wire mono 6# 12# 20# Trilene Big Game 25# and +
  2. Put 200+ casts on my new Shimano Clarus last night, love it! I think I paid $80 for it. Have it paired with a Chronarch.
  3. If you could snag a older Symetre grab it. Its a great reel under $100. My buddies tackle shop has the older ones in stock PM me if your interested I could pick 1 up and ship it, work it out through paypal.
  4. So a few weeks ago I posted Cabelas had Quantum Accurist spinning rods on sale from $69.99 for $19.99 me and my buddy grabbed 1 each for the hell of it. Last night I saw on Dicks website the Accurist reels on sale from $79.99 for $49.97. So tonight I ran to Dicks and picked up 2, 1 for me and 1 for my buddy. My 1st time buying something other than Shimano for freshwater. (I have Shimanos and Penns for Salt) Any how I needed a light lure 1/16-1/8oz setup. Light cranks, jerks etc. I gotta say I am fairly impressed with the construction, performance and over all quality of the this set up. For the fact it cost me $70, I can easily compare this to my ST Croix premier Shimano Sonora (top water setup). I haven't fished it yet as I've just picked up the reel tonight, although I did spool it up with 6# Spider mono. Rod feels well balanced, good quality cork, and I'd say Mod/Fast action seems appropriate while still having a solid backbone 2/3rds the way up. The reel is smooth, doesn't spin forever like my Stradic CI4 but then again its not a $200 reel. All in all I'm impressed and I'm looking forward to fishing this. I'm a die hard Shimano guy BUT I do not knock other brands except Okuma because I had terrible luck with 2 of their salt reels. Rods, I have numerous brands in my collection, I'm not picky at all, a good rod to me is just that, a good rod. With spring upon us, I'm sure there's some younger anglers checking out the forum for advice on a new or 1st set up with out breaking the bank. I hope my $0.02 helps. - Cheers
  5. @Hanover thanks for info I may end up picking up another one of these for another application.
  6. I have a 6 M/F spinning, its my 'just bringing one rod with me today to the local lake' rod. Lol Have 2 shimano 2500's I throw on it. Love it!
  7. Here opening day is 3rd weekend of April for waterbodys with trout.
  8. No one local has the new Cumaras. Hit a few more places today. Tried out the Clarus this morning with the Chronarch. Gotta say I'm impressed. Its the cheapest rod I have for personal use. (Have cheaper stuff for friends to use.) I gotta say I like it. You guys running the spinnerbait clarus, what # line you throwing? On a side note today was my first day out this year. Nailed a 3 pounder on my first cast (cumara/stradic/blackworm) then didn't catch nothing for another 150 casts. Caught a 1 pounder then left.
  9. I have the last model Cumara ML 7'2 for finese paired with a Stradic CI4, loveeeeee it! If I were to have gotten the new Cumara for SB I would have prob splurged for the Core as well. Lol Thanks for the heads up guys. Wish everyone a good season! Just got my 1st tourney schedule so this year should be interesting.
  10. Sup LMG lol #teamshimano Anyhow ran to cabelas to pick up the new Cumara for my Spinnerbait set up. They do not plan on getting the Cumaras. So I'm checking out the 3 other ones and decided on the Clarus. Me personally coulnt justify the extra $ for d**n near identical rods even though they sport stronger blanks. Wish me luck! Btw: Paired it with another Chronarch.
  11. Sup guys! Hope everyone had a good winter. Me and my buddy just picked up a couple of these rods at Cabelas today. Reg price I think was $70, they were on sale for $20. Figured what the hell, always wanted to try out Quantums stuff. Have any of you used these rods before? How do you like them? For $20 I dont think you can go wrong lol Ironic coming from a guy who has $300 rods.
  12. I own a old Sienna prob 8 years old and still works, current models the Sonora is hard to beat for the price.
  13. Merry Christmas everyone! My fiance got me another reel a Ci4 and a dozen or so lures(cranks and spinners) surprisingly on the money with all the colors for CT waters! Have a great day everyone!
  14. I also just got AbrazX and InvisX can't wait to try em out.
  15. Had Yozuri on Stadric 2500, Symetre 2500 and Sonora 2500 at same time at beginning of the year. Line memory was terrible, casting distance on all 3 setups was no more than 25ft, couldn't hold a knot, and 6# test was more like 0.0000001# strength, also line was as stiff as 25# fluoro I use for my saltwater leaders. Only reason I got it was because the rave reviews. Terrible experience I stripped the reels down after that first trip. The Sufix yea that's on the Chronarch, I think its 'Siege' very very very brittle the slightest nick or abrupt pressure line would snap. Pretty sure it was 12#. But like I said 1 day I'll try a fresh spool of that. As far as the Yozuri, they make great lures but the line is not my cup of tea.
  16. I have explained myself on other threads. Line is horrendous. Also not a fan of Sufix but that's from one spool that was used on a pre owned reel I tried. May try a fresh spool one day.
  17. Well it was more of the initial work which I've done countless times and never a prob that caused the problem. Lol so yea ur right!
  18. Yea its def a cool budget reel.
  19. Drumroll please dadadadadadadadadad SHIMANO by a landslide! Lmao
  20. Btw Yozuri's line is garbage
  21. Mono - Spider Wire Fluoro - Seaguar Braid - Spider Wire SW FTW!!!!
  22. 1 piece will have better sensitivity then a multi piece rod.
  23. So swapped out for the new reel today, my buddy said he's heard that the hot sauce works best when the reel desperately needs oil and that he doesn't have any experience with it of his own. So I was thinking about a old Shimano Sienna I have, $30 reel. This reel was bought for scenerio a buddy who doesn't have gear tags along. Any how so I get home reel was pretty rough, all I oiled was the right and left bearings of where the handle goes. Reeled a few times let it sit 10 mins or so later spinned it for idk maybe 200 cranks. Night and day difference. Still not smooth but much much better. Think I'll keep this stuff and try it out on some of my saltwater gear mid season next year.
  24. Strange Shimano hasn't announced what reel they recommend to be paired to this rod. They usually have a match in mind for all their rods/reels.
