  1. The good They last a loooooong time They are cheap The bad They are quite hard for a soft plastic They are not as lively The ugly The sink rate may not be the ideal when the fish are picky about the sink rate.
  2. Glass baits are built with multifaceted interior molded into the plastic on each half then a plate of reflective material is placed inside between them. A chrome plated bait only reflects light when the light hits it in the right angle, a multifaceted one reflects light in any angle because if it 's not one facet ( aka, minimirror ) it 's the other that 's in another angle. An application of the same principle you can see is on those emergency markers you have in your vehicle, they reflect the light in any angle, if they weren 't built that way they would only reflect light in a specific angle.
  3. Thanks man ! Now it looks I need to go and purchase a Dremel :-? ...... but cost of a Dremel is insignificant when compared to having my Alphas shining like a mirror.
  4. Most people don 't even have it in their boxes. HEAVY METAL -----> !!!!!!!
  5. I don't understand ? Nice job Jimzee, not even out of the box that reel looks so good. Now tell us Alphas Itö owners the process. What kind of metal polisher u used ? You applied it with what ? How long did it take you to achieve the mirror finish ? Buffed it up with what ? Speak man, we nosy people need to know !
  6. I 'll be damned ......... you know who has just jumped on my back. :-/
  7. I didn 't find the site, not even looked for it, I was directed to it as usual when somebody asked the question ( generally speaking ) that always makes me join a site: Bass fishing in Mexico ?, in this case I think it was Rebbasser who drove me here.
  8. It depends Some manufacturers label their rods with power and action ratings like Shimano, which are also encrypted in the model number. Others label the power but not the action, however the action of the rod is labeled in the model number like Fenwick or St Croix for ex: Techna Av AVC60MM ( Moderate ) Others, your guess is as good as mine. :-? So you have different possible scenarios 1.- The customer hasn 't bothered to check the manufacturer 's website, goes to store sees rods and ...... it 's left with the I don't understand ? face 2.- Customer don 't know how to read the encryption on the model, looks at the encryption and ...... it 's left with the I don't understand ? face 3.- Store clerk knows nothing about rods ..... dude is always with the I don't understand ? face cuz to him a rod is "just a rod" 4.- Customer who hasn 't bothered to check the website and don 't know how to read the encryption asks clerk who knows nothing about rods and now ........ both have the I don't understand ? face 5.- Weeeeeeeellllllllllll, Walmart don 't always hires the most knowledgeable people in the subject in which you are interested ( this case rods ), if he/she were that knowledgeable he/she wouldn 't be woikin in Walmart for 5 dollars an hour. How you expected to the rods being layed out in a place like Walmart ?
  9. Nope. Take a look at telescopes, the ones that capture and condense more light are multiple mirror telescopes bucause the can trap the light from different angles vs flat mirror telescopes. It 's the same principle.
  10. Which one you think reflects more light ?
  11. Matt, "swimbaits" describes a family of lures made out of different materials, with different characteristics inherent to each group inside the family with different rigging techiques applicabe to each and with different techniques on how to fish them depending upon each group. To give you a point from where to start and for you to begin knowing the groups and types start here.
  12. It depends on the purpose of the setup, my most expensive rods are the rods I use for baits and techniques where sensitivy is a factor ( worming & jigging ). My least expensive rods are for baits and techniques where sensitivity is not such an important factor ( crankbaiting and spinnerbaiting ). Reels, most of my reels are in the $2-300 range for BCs and $80-150 in spinning.
  13. I 'd say no if the same material is used, my CR721 ( L ) is as sensitive as one of my IMX CR723 ( MH ). Change the material and you can feel the difference in most cases, my CR722 GL2 is nowhere as sensitive as my CR722 IMX.
  14. Most larger cities in Mexico are old and streets are narrow, since the city normally doesn 't have suburbs you 've got people living all over the place and kids sprout from the ground like if they were mushrooms, 1 lane is for driving the other one is for parking, you drive slow or you drive slow, in a split second a kid runs from behind a parked vehicle to cross the street. As for driving in highways, I used to drive at warp speed, now I seldomly run over 80 ( what 's the rush ? ).
  15. BPS EZ Lure Retriever.
  16. Taildancers rock in my neck of the woods, same thing goes for Thundercranks.
  17. I 've got two favorites, Fish Arrow Monster Jack and Daiwa Dead or Alive, doesn 't mean they are the most fish catchingest baits, I like them and have caught many fish with them.
  18. It depends on the conditions of water clarity. Imagine you are Mr Bass, it 's been raining cats and dogs for the past two weeks or the snow has been melting for the past two weeks, silt, mud, sand has been entering your home for two weeks, the water visbility is so poor because all of that silt, mud & sand that has entered the lake that you can 't see your fin in front of your face, you gotta eat, if you can 't see how are you going to find your meal ? Sight ain 't good to locate your meal so what do you use ? Hearing Smell and Your lateral line The wider the wobble the more vibration you can feel, the fatter the body the larger the hydrodinamic signature you can locate. It 's easier for a bass to locate a noisy, fat wider wobbling bait than it is to locate a less noisy ( or silent ), tight wiggling bait in murky/muddy water. Down here in my neck of the woods the water in most lakes turns into pea soup, not only the heat but also the increase in nutrients washed into the lake and the longer days create algae blooms, when that begins to happen baits like the Wiggle Wart, Thundercrank, Fat Rap or the DT ( to mention some ) reign supreme over baits which reigned supreme like the Shad Rap when the water was clearer.
  19. I would get the 7.1:1 for jigging, worming & targeting in gun n 'run fashion ( like fishing targeting to holes in weedbeds ).
  20. True True, it controls better the tendency of the spool to over run when casting heavier baits Not true, the Fuego and Zillion share the same frame with the TDZ but not the same spool; the TDZ has a Mag V because it has a V spool, the TDZ BBS has simple Magforce ( U spool ); the Steez depending upon the model, which both have the same everything except for the spool, will have Mag V for the 103 ( V spool ) or Mag Z for the 100 ( U spool ) The situation here is, a reel with Mag V casts very well and less effort lighter baits ( < 3/8 oz ) but when you increase the weight the spool begins to show signs of over run, a reel with Mag Z casts very well heavier weights because it controls more the spool over run but a reel with Mag Z doesn 't cast as well lighter baits. A reel with Mag V is touchy when it comes to controlling the spool rotation with heavier weights, you tie a heavier weight than 3/8 oz you have to increase the break setting otherwise the spool spins ouyt of control.
  21. It not only depends on the water temperature, it also depends on the water clarity and if the bait has rattle or not. Shad Rap in cold murky/muddy water ----> I don 't think so Shad Rap RS or Glass Shad Rap in cold murky/muddy water ----> more likely
  22. As it is, NIB ( which includes obviously the box in mint condition ) reserve auction price around 7 dollars.
  23. Yup, same body, different spool capacity.
  24. Domestic or import ? Domestic: BPS Extreme Travel Rod Import: Major Craft Days Season Sa-Ku-Ra ( the rod case is 22.5 inches long )
  25. The Terminator saga is a true masterpiece of the film arts just like the Star Wars saga, the Alien saga ( and I don 't mean them illegal ones ) and the Predator saga. Just ask me how many times I 've watched each film.
