  1. And wait till Robert puts his hands on a Gan Craft rod. If you guys think them Megabass rods are just plain sick wait until you see a Gan Craft, they look like pure evil.
  2. When you are about to jump from the cliff is better to ask to someone who has already done it before you. The Baby Griffon is a little bit less than an inch and a half in length, a panfish bait. The SRX and the MRX are the same body size, the difference is the lip length and position of the lip, the SRX is a shallow diver, the MRX is a medium depth diver.
  3. From the point of view who owns properties for rent: I don 't pay for the property, you do it. I end up owning the property, you will never own it Renting is for people that have to move a lot on a regular basis, like managers from the big chain stores, for military personel n 'such. But for people that don 't have to move renting a house is not a good option. Buying a house is an investment, renting a house is an expense. You say you hate to pay taxes; taxes my friend will hit you one way or the other, ok, you don 't pay all those taxes that come with the house, then your income increases and you 'll be struck by a higher income tax rate, in the end you still have to pay taxes.
  4. The one in my avatar was alive n 'kickin, I cross my heart.
  5. A few thoughts: 1) They're the most widely distributed gamefish in North America, Mexico, Canada and 49 of our 50 states. 2) They fight reasonably well (LM) or very well (SM). 3) They (especially largemouth) tolerate a wide range of conditions. 4) They take any type of artificial lure imaginable. 5) They (LM) inhabit shallow water where most fishermen are most comfortable fishing, plus they're also available to shore anglers. Plus: 6) Bass don 't need to have cold water in order to exist like trout. You tell me, I can fish for trout only in the highest part of the sierra but I can fish for bass practically in any puddle.
  6. My man, don 't spend your money on the Baby Griffon unless you are planning to fish for panfish, it 's smaller than the Griffon which is pretty darn small ( 1 3/4 " ) to be a really good bass bait, yeah it catches tons of fish but 99% of the time it catches dinks, and when I say "dink" I mean teeny tiny 8-12 inch fish. If you are going to pop 20+ bones in a bait better spend it in bass size baits like the Vision 110, Bait X Concept, Flap Slaps n 'stuff like that. Griffons look kool on the pics until you have it in your hand, reality is very far from what you see in the pics, the detail and beauty is there but not the size.
  7. Been fishing with Big Game for a little over 2 decades.
  8. The old Curados weighted 8.6 oz, I can take that, but 9.9 oz ? ...... one of the reasons I seldomly fish now with my old Abus XLT series is because after I fish with them I end up pretty beat up, the ole casting arma ain 't what it used to be. :-/
  9. Nope, you 're not alone. Big Game user here too.
  10. Speaking of which, we don 't have zebra mussels down here but there are lakes like Zimapan where the "bottom" is made of chunk slate rock, got any idea how sharp them rocks are ? XL doesn 't survive to them too long Big Game does a lot better than XL but still check, cut and retie oftenly is a must. XT, yeah baby, that line works a lot better than the other two. Not that I don 't check, cut and retie oftenly, the catch is, what happens between you have just checked, cut and retied and the next, many times on the first couple of casts when fishing under such harsh environment the line gets worn a little and what if .......... you hook a bigun ? :-? ----> see ya later alligater. :
  11. Is ARMORED VEHICLE season open ? Man, with that thing you can shoot a T-72 tank and make the turret pop up from it like if it were a can of soda.
  12. It 's a matter of bias. I owned two Mag TS rods, the All Purpose was were nowhere near as sensitive as my IMXs ( but of course they are cheaper ), more sensitive tham my GL2s, yes they are and have a more powerful blank than my GLoomis rods of the same rating. The Mag TS crankbait had a really nice blank, it behaved beautifuly when casting the baits and when fighting the fish. So, me speaking of them well why did I get rid of them ? The reel seat on mine were Batson and the reel seat sucked, none of my reels sit on it tight. The handle design is too wide for me to handle, yeah I can shave the cork to thin out the excess but ...... why do I have to do that ? Are the rods good ? yes they are Are they worth it ? yes they are worth it Very rarely I have to regret an on-line purchase, and this was one of those cases, should have shelled out the extra cash and purchased Heliums instead or stay with the bad known GLoomis than with the good to be known Kistler Mags.
  13. I think by reading your post that you didn 't understand what RW was trying to say, or misunderstood the part where RW said: Then you effectively "start fresh". He didn 't say you should trash the line. What he mean by you starting fresh is that if you don 't treat the line with line conditioner and troll the line after transfering the line to another reel this is what is going to happen: You tie the line to be transfered to the new spool and begin reeling in, everything is fine cuz until about 1/3 of the line to be transfered is spooled wide and loose, once you hit the 1/3 mark and from that point until the end of the spool from where the line is being transfered is wrapped around the spool in tighter loops the deeper you go the more tighter the loops are so by the time all the line has been transfered 2/3 rd of it will be coiled up so badly that a slinky has more looseness to it than that line you transfered, in other words, coil wise is worth crap. By treating the line with line conditioner and then trolling the line until you reach the end of the spool ( no weight attached ) you begin to reel in, as you reel in the twist on the line will slowly be moved towards the end until the twist and coiling has dissapeared, in other words, you "started fresh". That 's what RW meant.
  14. Big Game is more elastic than XT ( more stretch ) XT ...... they don 't call it XT for nuthin , tough as nails, it 's quite more abrassion resistant than Big Game. XT holds more memory than Big Game. I 'd say that Big Game is somewhere in between XL and XT.
  15. Mailman just drop a tube originally shipped from Japan ! Man, I wasn 't expecting them so soon, Mr Ogawa shipped them March 28 th and they arrived today, not bad taking in consideration that it usually takes stuff shipped from Japan 4 to 6 weeks before I can have it. Man, at Plat they shure know how to wrap a rod, bubble wrap after bubble wrap after bubble wrap, tape, plus tape, plus tape and a thick PVC tube to protect them goodies inside, and me with the fever to see in the flesh waht 's inside. Open the tube and remove the goodies, bubble wrap, a couple of layers, more tape ! oh boy, what 's inside ? ....... golly molly ! a couple of rod covers ! on a little over 100 dollars rod ? , you gotta be sh*g me ! ........ it anything fancy, nope it ain 't silk but still it 's a nice touch , neither GLoomis nor St Croix has ever given me a rod wrap and them rods I got from both are more expensive ...... I open the rod cover and .......more bubble wrap n 'tape ! , oh well, it 's a small price to pay having to unwrap all that bubble wrap n 'tape, after all, it 's there to protect what 's inside, isn 't it ? , I unwrap the bulky one first ..... oh man ! ...... let me stare at it a little bit more ..... oh man ! look at the handle details, the tactile experience is , ya know what I mean ....... look at the first guide, ok, enough lookin at the firts piece and let 's unwrap the second ..... pretty darn nice guides ! ..... the blank feels so different, instead of being smooth it 's grooved ! ..... groovy ! Let 's put both pieces together to appreciate the whole ........ pretty darn light ! ...... my Revros is gonna looks killer on this rod ! ( gotta check the balance but I feel it 's going to be what I expected ) ....... Nice light saber buddy ! who cares it 's made in China. The truth is that no domestic $125 rod I 've owned comes close in looks to this baby. An grin appears on my face as I get mentaly prepared to fish them super spooky bass at Otates and La Laborcita armed with my Bosco paired to my Revros spooled with 6 lb test line and a bunch of them small japanese baits. Maybe Zimapan bass are gonna get poisoned too. Muahahahahahaha ( evil laff ! )
  16. Do you carry concealed? Nope and wouldn 't even dare to do it even if I had the chance, in Mexico it 's illegal for you to carry any kind of handguns, you can if you have a permit, but you can die of old age before your permit to carry a handgun is approved. Only off duty military personel and policemen are allowed to carry handguns.
  17. Isn 't it ILLEGAL to kill fish over your limit just because you don 't like 'em ?
  18. 1.- What the fish told you ? 2.- What were you fishing with ? 3.- At what speed you were retrieving ? 4.- Did you see anything in particular where you caught the first one ? 5.- At what depth ? 6.- The conditions were how when you caught the first one ? And we can continue the questions ad infinitum, you see, nothing happens by chance, the only moment you can insert "luck" ( if you believe in it ) into the equation is when you caught the first one, the rest of the pack comes as a result of applying the same principles you found when you caught the first one ....... that is, if you bothered to take your time to analize what the fish was telling you.
  19. Since the mid 80 's my favorite line hasn 't changed, tried many just to return to the same: Trilene Big Game.
  20. It depends on with whom I 'm fishing with, the vast mayority of my fishing partners can 't stand "the hunt", I 've caught most of my hogs fishing alone or in a few cases, fishing with a partner that can stand the hunt. That means that normally I don 't fish for big mommas, everyday 1-3 pounders and that 's about it. An eighter brings grin to my face, a niner makes me blush, a ten makes me feel satisfied, an eleven pumps adrenalin, can 't say more cuz shy of 14 pounds is my PB. Patience is something you grow in yourself, anfter all ----> what 's the rush ? It really depends on where you fish, post spawn is the hardest, mid summer is when I 've caught the most after the prespawn and spawn, and if it sounds odd to you, most of them have been caught during 1 and 4 PM under the blazing heart and scorching sun. When the air temps are in the 100 's, when you feel like jello melting under the sun is when the big mommas are into the bite in my experience. I caught my first 10+ in 1984 out of a puddle, that day I caught 2 10+ pound fish and a 8.5 pounder, I had fished that pond for several years and nothing great came out of it, lotz of 10 inchers to a pound so actually I fished that pond for the fun, who would have thought that the puddle had big fish in it ? Then it became kinda like of an obsession, I look for the big bite if I can get away with it.
  21. Nah, I don 't think you can ever have enuff tackle.
  22. Paul, in my experience post cold front conditions have little to do with the sudden drop in air temperature, the water temp remains for practical terms the same than before the front, but the weather pattern associated to the passing of the cold front ( cloudless bluebird skies ) have a great impact, it 's the light penetration increase which causes the fish to either go deeper or bury into cover, it 's not that de fish develop a severe case of shutmouthitis, it 's just that most anglers continue to fish the same places at the same depth and the fish ain 't around there no more, in other words, instead of adapting their baits, presentations and locations they continue to fish when the fish aren 't there. It 's a common mistake, they fish "the history" instead of fishing "the conditions". If the greatest bug is the light penetration then fish deeper or fish the conditions where the light penetration bug has less effect, like windblown areas or where there 's muddy water n 'such.
  23. I used to fish with pork trailers, the famous Uncle Josh Pork Frog number 11. Drawbacks: 1.- Don 't ask me what kind of chemical reaction the brine creates on the lid but one thing is for sure, it rusts and before you know it the lid gets sealed against the jar like ......... forever ! > 2.- If for whatever reason it happens that you spill the brine on your boat and you got a colored bait the brine will stain it like ...... forever ! > 3.- Those baits need to be "tuned", I don 't recall ever pulling out a bait from the jar that wasn 't crooked. :-/ 4.- They do last more than plastic ones but when you live in a warm climate they really become a pain in the neck, in warm climates you need to baby sit them pork trailers or after a few minutes of exposure to the high temperatures they become an unrecognizable mass of fat and skin that 's going to stay on your bait like ..... forever ! > 5.- They become really expensive if your jig doesn 't survive for a full day of fishing ( which in my case is the norm and not the exception ). 6.- You gotta carry all them jars instead of carrying bags of plastics which can be folded and placed anywhere. 7.- Not always they are correctly prepunctured. Pluses: 1.- Durability is unquestionable ( but of course "durability" depends greatly on which definition of durability you have in mind ) 2.- They do have a mole lively action than plastics if you tune them right. So for the drwabacks I no longer used them.
