  1. Oh well, 1 st time could be a manufacturer problem, 2 nd time from the same retailer ...... nah, I don 't think it 's a manufacturer problem :. In the last month and a half I 've purchased two more GLoomis rods and none of them has any flaws.
  2. Also, it has 2 bearings less than the 200 size.
  3. The door bell counts ?
  4. The best bang for the buck is Mattlure 's Baby Bass.
  5. Things you need to know about tules: 1.- They prefer to grow on shallow waters 2.- They prefer sandy and/or silty bottom composition This is very important to know, whenever you see a break in what seems to be an impenetrable wall it means that one or the other above mention is not being complied, a break means that 1.- There 's deeper water ( an edge and an edge attracts fish ) at the end of the wall or 2.- The bottom composition is different to what they prefer which causes a different growth pattern in the weedbed ---> points & coves which act like a structural point or cove and you know that points and coves are prime bass ambush points. You can work a tule bed mostly by two ways: a ) Fishing along it parallel to the wall with moving baits like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and crankbaits to make the fish hiding in between the plants come out of the bed and attack the bait as it passes by. b ) Frontal attack with weedless baits like jigs and worms working those points and coves I mentioned by flipping and pitching to the plants. c) If the plants are scattered forming islands and these have scarce plant growth you can actually attack the "island" with weedless baits ( my favorite is a spinnerbait ) making the bait go between the plants. Tules are no place for the sissy, true macho places to fish, you are going to hang up and loose baits, also, they are no place for Mickey Mouse gear, forget about light lines and wippy rods, what you need is MUSCLE !!!, a good strong rod, heavy line and a reel with a monster drag are a must, you don 't want a fish of a lifetime wrapping around the submerged stems of the plants and loosing it cuz you thought it was "sporty" to fish with 6 pound test. I caught my first ten pounder in a pond choked with tules, as a matter of fact I caught another one and a nine pounder the same day fsihing the tules.
  6. With butter ? cuz if it ain 't with butter don 't count me in.
  7. You don 't like Shimano ? -----> Don 't buy Shimano
  8. They look like this: Other names: Cattails, Bulrushes, Tules. They are very common in the south, specially in shallow lakes ( can choke a lake ), usually found on flats with soft bottom composition soil like sand or silt. Good bass habitat and a good place to fish.
  9. Nope, you don 't "need" it but ....... why having to worry to slow down your cadence when a slower reel can do it for you ? all you have to do is crank in the way you always do and let the reel do the rest.
  10. Raul 's rules about crankbaiting: 1.- If you ain 't fishing them where they hang up you ain 't fishing them where the fish are. 2.- Crankbaiting is a contact sport, don 't wanna loose cranks where they hang up you ain 't fishing them where the fish are then crankbaits ain 't for you. 3.- A shure way to loose a lipless crankbait is doing exactly what you do, but ....... check rule #1. 4.- You don 't think I learned how to fish a crankbait through woody cover for free, do you ? I lost a good bunch of baits in the process of learning how to fish them through cover, it 's like walking through a land mine field, the only difference is that in a lind mined field you can loose your nutz while the worst that could happen is that you loose a lure. With time ( and lost lures ) you pretty much know when the lure is about to hang up as you retrieve it. 5.- Lure retrievers are like American Express cards .... never leave home without it.
  11. NO THANKS TO YOU !!! > Tackle purchases in a little bit over a month: 1 Graphiteleader Bosco rod 1 GLoomis SJR782 1 GLoomis CR724 Plus some baits, reel covers now a reel and more hooks that I really don 't need. Crap ! I don 't print the danged money , gotta work to earn it. :-[
  12. There 's no such thing as "luck", nothing happens by chance, it 's a chain of events what makes the fish bite. Bass and almost any other predatory fish are somewhat predictable, it 's up to you to select the bait ( which is nothing more than a tool ) and knowing where, when and how to present it. Better good than lucky.
  13. The delivery guy arrived a few minutes ago with small box shipped to ....... me :-? Opened box and inside box there was some stuff: Citica 200D Spool of Berkley Trilene XT 17 lb test 2 Packs of Owner Phantom Tube hooks 2 Packs of Owner Ultrahead 1/16 oz Shakey jigheads 2 Packs of Owner Ultrahead 1/8 oz Shakey jigheads I don 't get it ! :-/ I don 't remember ordering anything :-[ Oh well, I think the Citica spooled with 17 lb test and paired to my Clarus is going to make a fine small swimbait rig. LONG LIVE THE BAITMONKEY !!!
  14. It depends on the type of bird.
  15. 2 2005 Daiwa Pixy 1 Daiwa Alphas Type F 1 Daiwa Alphas Ito 2 Daiwa TDZ 105 2 Daiwa TDZ 103 1 Abu Garcia 521 XLT Plus 1 Abu Garcia XLT Plus 1 Shimano Chronarch SF 1 Shimano Curado 200 1 Shimano Curado 200 B38 1 Shimano Scorpion 1000 Mg 1 Chronarch 50 Mg 1 Shimano Core Mg 2 Shimano Metanium XT The FORCE is balanced, got as many Daiwas I do Shimanos ..... well that 's it now, who knows in the future, thinking about getting a couple extra reels ( not that I need them ) And no, I ain 't ever gonna get rid of those two old Abus.
  16. Don 't forget to order a Shimano baitcast neoprene reel cover ! The reel doesn 't come with one, it comes with a reel pouch, the cover is a must if you want to keep the clear coat of the reel, it 's scratch/peel prone.
  17. One uses weights and centrifugal force, the other one uses magnets and magnetic attraction.
  18. Yup ! and further to the south it gets even cheaper. Filled The Feechin Machina 's gas tank, 70 liters ( 18 gals aprox ), total 500 pesos ( 45 US aprox ) = 2.50 US / gal. Not bad taking in consideration that the fuel economy of The Feechin Machina is not measured by MPG ( Miles per gallon ) but by GPM ( Gallons per mile ) . Plenty of horsepower in that engine , only problem is that all them horses are really thirsty !
  19. No fishing superstitions here. But I 'm pretty shure that danged camera of mine is jinxed, when I take it I don 't catch anything worth taking a picture of, times when the camera hasn 't been in the boat and I 've caught fish worth taking a picture ----> many times; so ....... camera no longer goes on trips.
  20. Yo ! where 's the Alphas Type F and the Pixy ?
  21. I wouldn 't say perfect, if it were perfect I would have traded my other reels in favor of the Chronarch Mg, it 's an excellent reel at a very good price taking in consideration that most magnesium reels cost a lot more than it. 5.9 ounces, good line capacity, castig easiness, no temperamental braking system, no temperamental drag system, clicking drag star for 250 bones ..... it don 't get better than that for that kind of money.
  22. Yeah, I know of a guy that has his rods broken before using them. :
  23. Yes I 've heard such a thing by one of the BPS forum administrators when I commented about the foggy origin of BPS reels. The bottom line is: the origin of BPS reels is still foggy. But they just look too close to Pfleuger reels to deny a certain familiy relationship. Don 't know why is it so hard for them to tell who makes their reels, I see nothing bad nor denigrationg in recognizing who makes your house brand products. Many Cabela 's reels have Daiwa or Abu written all over them.
