  1. For anything where more abrassion resistance is needed except chunk rock bottoms ( chunk rocks cuts braided like a knife ).
  2. A shakey jighead. :
  3. Dunno, maybe someone that has more money to spend than brains ..... hey, how come "one of these" ? you need several ! PD: VIDEO !!, sincerely yours, The BaitMonkey !.
  4. Caught my first 10 pounder with a Rapala Minnow size 9, caught my PB ( 13.86 lbs ) with a Shad Rap size 7, have caught many in between big fish with 6 inch worms, and like Catt mentioned, my number 1 big bass bait is the Jig n 'trailer which like Catt mentioned is only 4 or 5" in length. I do have an arsenal of swimbaits and I fish with them because it 's fun, however I catch a lot more 3-4 pounders with them than 10+ pounders.
  5. You can get a Citica for $85
  6. For that kind of money I wouldn 't think it too much, I 'd jump right on a Steez.
  7. How much kash we have to spend ? Any particular use you want to give to the reel ? With how much weight you feel comfortable ? There are many variables to take in consideration, you want a lightweight reel with an all around use, not too expensive, great caster, nice looking, small profile, good drag you can go with the Alphas Type F, I 've got that reel and I can recommend it, you can also do a search at e-bay for a Daiwa TDZ, you can find a NIB for around 270 and it 's one heck of a reel, I 've got 4 ( two 103H and 2 105H ).
  8. Got spoiled with Japanese stuff.
  9. The Japanese Zillion is exactly the same reel as the US version, only differences are: The knobs in the Japanese version are screwed in to the handle and not riveted as in the US version. The weight difference is insignificant ( 0.4 oz ) And this detail not found in the domestic version: Japanese Zillion on the left, US version on the right Price difference including shipping is $74 dollars more ( JDM ) for the slower version and $84 dollars for the faster version. Don 't know about you but I 'd rather invest those 75-85 dollars in something else if anyway I 'm gonna get the same reel. Which Metanium ? XT ? When GinRinPeche was blowing away it 's inventory getting a Metanium XT was a good investment you save about 60 to 70 dollars if you purchased the Metanium XT with them ( they included free shipping ), now at current prices the only reason I would purchase a Metanium is that it weights an ounce less than the domestic version, but it costs 70 dollars more than the Chronarch including shipping. BTW, the Metanium XT doesn 't have the mirror coat you find in the Chronarch, the reel is painted.
  10. Not enough to fill a tooth cavity.
  11. Over three decades I 've tried different brands and types of line and still return to Trilene XT, XL and Big Game. One of the lines I "liked" due to it 's incredible abrassion resistant capabilities and absurdly high breaking point was P-Line CXX in 12 lbs test, man they don 't call it extra extra strong for nuthin ' , only problem is that it has more memory than a pack of elephants altogether. :-/
  12. Aside from having the bulge of the gearing on the handle side which doesn 't count for the ergonomic department they are the same size you found in the old Citicas, Curados and Chronarchs. I know it because I did the size/ergonomics comparison when I purchased the Citica 200D which is the same frame of the Curado and the Cruxis.
  13. I had ( notice the past tense of have ) two Kistler Mag TS, the All Purpose and the Crankbait series, I liked the Crankbait series blank ( hated the reel seat and the bulgy handle ), the All Purpose ?......... well, I would take my IMXs over it any day anytime.
  14. The flaws I see in the Curado and Citica D in the larger 200 size model have a lot to do with weight issues, not features. Like I said, I own reels from Shimano and Daiwa, HEG gearing is not new, many Daiwa reels ( TDZ, Zillion, Fuego, Viento, Sol ) have it but none of them weights 10 friggin ' ounces ! > I agree, they managed to reduce the weight in the 100 size models by over an ounce compared to the previous generation Curado 100B but to the eyes of many it 's like the 100 size reel models never existed, many view them as "too small" or feel that they won 't cut it due to the smaller size ( which far from being the truth ) so all the good things they adeed and did to the 100 size went down the drain with the 200 size which i a lot more mainstream, they really blew it. To tell you the truth, many say the reel is not worth 200 dollars, to my eyes it 's worth the 200 dollars they were asking for it, why I say it ? because it has better features than the Curado 200BSF, it has better features than the previous Chronarch which was a 200 dollars reel, I know it because I had it, with the features it has it is worth the 200 dollars. You are really paying and getting more features than if you purchased an old Chronarch. Only problem is that when they revamped the Citica they gave the Citica a better value, the value the old Curado had vs the old Chronarch and above the 100 dollars old Citica.
  15. 65 degrees ain 't what we guys down here in the south could call "hot summer day", that 's in the dead of the "winter" for us. ;D
  16. Red shad is the king of bleeding colors followed closely by charteuse.
  17. Here 's what you get when you get a Citica: Septon contoured knobs vs conventional knobs Aluminum cast control knob cap vs plastic Wiffle spool in some models HEG gearing 1/4 turn key access sideplate The sideplate remains attched to the reel Dartanium drag Aluminum drag star Those are better features than the ones you found in the top of the mean green ( Curado 200BSF ) for $120 while the BSF was $150. I love my mean greens but that love doesn 't cloud my vision, the Citica D is a better reel than them.
  18. This thread has become "we the hadicapable ones vs you healthy guys." ;D
  19. I visit ocassionaly a lake called "Los Reyes" near the town of San Felipe up in the sierra, the place when the wind doesn 't blow becomes a cementary, you catch nuthin ', add a little wind or better a strong wind and you are in business.
  20. I 'm getting OLD !!!!!!! :- , I mean in years, in spirit I 'm just a toddler ( well, that 's what the significant other says ), too bad the skin wrinkles. :-/
  21. For people that cast with both arms reel weight shouldn 't be an issue, it isn 't an issue when I fish with swimbaits because I cast with both arms, but the rest of the time I cast with one arm and the shoulder not being what it used to be it is reel weight is an issue specailly with baitcasters, can 't cast for extended periods of time with a 8.5 or more ounces reel or the shoulder begins to whine, then it 's the neck and later is the right side of the back. With spinning reels is not that much of an issue, maybe it has to do with the reel hanging from the rod instead of on top of it.
  22. Dude, that ain 't a Brush Hog, Brush Hogs don 't have the legs attached :: Brush Hog Super Hog
  23. Send the rod and you 'll get a new one.
  24. Why ? because they didn 't sell as much or as fast as they expected, that 's why. Why ? beacuse they made the mistake of keeping the same name in a reel that has little or nothing to do with the previous generation with a higher price. Why ? because they made the mistake of introducing a new reel ( Cruxis ) in the 100 dollar mark previously occupied by the Citica Why ? because they revamped the Citica making it a better value and a better reel than the old mean green fishing machine.
