  1. Hey aavery, try pegging a skirted Boss Hub in front of your T-rigged HooDaddy and get ready for those hawgs to pull drag.
  2. Gene Larew Hoo Daddy.
  3. In addition to what has already been mentioned, I always leave a float plan with my wife. It's basically a map of the lake I'm fishing that shows my launch point and all the areas I plan on fishing.
  4. Jigs from Siebert Outdoors, skirts from Lure Parts Online.
  5. Wilderness Systems was thinking about us fat guys when they came out with the Ride and commander series yaks. Ocean Kayak also has the Big Game II that could probably handle a sumo wrestler with no problem. Yeah, we yakers have to contend with the wind sometimes, but there are just as many days when the water is smooth as glass and that makes for an excellent day on the water, fish or no fish. I've fished out of "bass boats" my entire life, but nothing can compare to the experiences I've had since sitting in my first kayak. Sold my boat this past fall, it had been sitting in the garage the past five years since getting my first kayak...I don't think I'll miss it.
  6. Half the fun of rigging a kayak for fishing is putting together your own crate. It looks good and functional. Sure, you can buy a Yak Attack BlackPac, but it is a lot of fun building your own. My crates are always in a constant state of evolution and one day I’ll find a way to mount gear tracks. You’ve got a good yak there, my next yak purchase will be a WS Ride.
  7. In open water I'll let a 1/4 oz weight slide free in front of this rig. Peg a heavier weight in front for an effective punch rig.

  8. My wife says I look buffed when I wear em.
  9. I love the hooks Mike uses...Owner hooks...it doesn't get any better. I knew the first time I held one of his jigs in my hand that I'd never use any other brand.
  10. Hey, nothing wrong with providing your audience at the ramp a few laughs…I remember my first launch and the fantastic rooster tail I created as I attempted to back off the bunks. Make sure you remove the rear tie downs before you back down the ramp. Enjoy your boat.
  11. I get mine from milkcratesdirect.com I've also added another rod rack to my latest crate to give me more options for rods. It also provides additional positioning for my YakAttack VISI Light/Flag pole and Pan Fish camera pole.
  12. The Shadow knows.
  13. I wanted to carry my cart inside the front hatch of my Trident 15, but was worried about noise through the hull. I ordered some Black Diamond Conseal Foam from Hook1 and installed it today...problem solved.
  14. Not many videos on the Big Game II since it just hit the market, but this one gives a good picture of it. I really like the hull design and those rigging plates will make adding Yak Attack, Ram, and Scotty mounts a breeze.
  15. A short review. http://finstalker.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-big-game-ii_3.html
  16. Remembering my first time in strong wind while kayak fishing…I was on the other side of the lake from where my truck was parked when it kicked up. I don’t know how hard it was blowing, but it was creating white caps and 2, 2 ½ foot waves. I paddled into a protected cove to wait it out, but it wasn’t letting up. I could either paddle straight across back to the ramp, little over 3 miles, or I could stay near shore and take the long route. I decided to cross the lake and at first I was white with fear, but the kayak, a Trident 13, handled beautifully…it cut through and over the waves with no problem. I’d be lying if I told you I no longer fear getting caught in bad weather or conditions, but I gained a lot of confidence in both myself and my kayak that day. Knowing your craft’s limits as well as your own is important. It’s also a good idea to practice reentry just in case you roll.
  17. As Jay said, I used zip ties, one top and one bottom on both sides of the divider. The zip ties provide a very secure connection and they can always be cut and refitted for deeper boxes. If you're worried about rolling your kayak over you can use one bungee across the top of the boxes or make a lid like you mentioned.
  18. Yes, they are the real deal.
  19. I used a cordless circular saw and cut the sides from another crate, then secured them inside the main crate with zip ties. The type of plastic used in crates will not gum up the saw either, makes a nice clean cut.
  20. View with 3700 boxes.
  21. Just finished another crate, but this time I cut up a second crate for use as dividers. The dividers are held firmly in place using zip ties and they work great. I can now remove one box without fumbling around with bungees and other boxes. The crates were $4.95 each for a total cost of $26.90 including shipping. (milkcratesdirect.com)
  22. Not the rarest, but definitely the most majestic animal I've encountered while kayak fishing.
  23. Now I'm confused...I'm looking at some 110 FX Tour Premiums that I recently purchased from TW and the boxes are clearly marked "Made in Japan" and "Megabass." The lures also have the signature "Yuki Ito" markings on the back. Now you telling us that they are not really Megabass?
