  1. Just my way of giving back to the members of Bass Resource. The first one to identify what this is a picture of and it's location will receive a new Megabass Pop Max from my collection. Good Luck.
  2. Bass Boats, Canoes, Kayaks, and more...we do have a section.
  3. Catch and Grease, this winter when the weather is bad and you're trapped indoors, read the book Walden, by Henry David Thoreau...I think you'll enjoy it.
  4. Yes it is...I hope you took a break between casts to take it all in.
  5. I'll second that...It was my first cast of the day and I was so excited I couldn't fish no more. Thought I had broken our state record, but it was not to be. It's still a record for me though.
  6. Rumble in the cabbage....Boomer Sooner!
  7. OMG that sounds so like somebody I know. Congrats on the new boat, may you witness many sunrises and sunsets from your boat's deck.
  8. My dad taught me how to fish on the old Macoupin in Illinois in the early 60's. I started with a 8' cane pole, which I still have, although it is dry and brittle...it sits proudly next to my Shimano outfits. By the time I was in the 5th or 6th grade, I landed my first bass, 2.5 lbs, with a Zebco 202 combo and a pre-rigged Crème worm. I miss those times.
  9. Seibert's 1/2 oz Dredge jigs. I used them for the first time last year, the Owner hooks on these jigs provided me with some awesome hook sets. Didn't get to the lakes much this year, but come spring I hope to be pitching these jigs from the yak.
  10. Can you post a pic of your lure?
  11. Do you have the box it came in?
  12. I call it professional over-run when it happens to me.
  13. Why are you setting the bar so high when you're just starting out? I once saw a couple of well known bass pros fish tournaments in aluminum boats. I also witnessed a guy take first place among a field of over 60 anglers, many of them using $30,000-$40,000 machines...and he was in an old Tracker. Don't be intimidated by those in their shiny new Rangers...it takes years for some folks to scrap and save for what they have. I started out in life with an old beater, v-bottom boat. I recommend you find a good, reliable, old aluminum boat with a working live well and go from there. It is the man or woman standing on the deck that wins the money, not the boat. Study hard, work hard, learn everything you can about bass fishing, and one day you'll have that Ranger. Best of luck to you and your friends.
  14. Are you sure you didn't steal that yak? Congrats on your new kayak. Using stealth you'll be able to paddle right up on those bass and they won't know you're there. Capt Ken Daubert, a kayak angler from Florida, got me into kayak fishing in 2009. Sold my bass boat last year because I had stopped using it and it was only collecting dust in the garage. Kayak fishing has changed my life as well...it's almost spiritual. Enjoy!
  15. Way to go Rangerphil! It is the National Infantry Museum, Fort Benning/Columbus, Georgia. By chance, are you a brother infantryman? Please message me your address and I will get a Pop Max out to you. Sorry about that slow internet Ontario, had it been a little faster you would have nailed it. I actually enjoyed this, it doesn't take much to entertain me these days. If the administrator of the forum allows it, I wouldn't mind doing this again...maybe once a month. Side note: Ft. Benning is the home and training center of the United States Infantry. It is also home to the Airborne School. I made a pilgrimage to Ft. Benning two years ago and visited the new museum for the first time. They have displays and artifacts depicting the life of an infantryman throughout our country's history. The Vietnam and Cold War displays were really nice. I was embarrassed at one point when I was overcome with memories and emotions, but soon found that I wasn't the only old fart there with tears in his eyes. I highly recommend a visit to this place to all of you, veteran or not. You may want to plan for an extra day or two, especially during the spawn...the bass fishing in Georgia is EXCELLENT! "Follow Me"
  16. This picture was taken the day I visited. I hope it helps someone with the identification. The old guys standing in front were there for a reunion, they served in the same unit as represented by the company guidon (blue flag) in Vietnam. The statue is sometimes called Iron Mike by soldiers. If no one guesses this by six a.m., I'll end your suffering and tell all. Nite.
  17. That's a good guess, France has many places honoring WWII veterans. However, it's still anyone's game. I really didn't think it was going to difficult, especially for the veterans out there. Hint: It is in the United States and many soldiers, both young and old visit this place each day, The statue is also regarded as sacred to one branch within the Army.
  18. I see where over 30 folks have downloaded this picture, someone is working hard to identify this building and it's location. I'll check back around six in the morning and see if anyone is getting one of my Pop Max lures. Again, Good Luck! (This is kind of fun.)
  19. I'm a Ford man and I got a kick out the replies from the Ford owners. This thread looked like fun for everyone so, I'll throw one in for you. The first person to identify this building and it's location will receive a new Megabass Pop Max, in AKA Tora color from my collection. Good Luck!
  20. Early this past spring, after spending the winter outfitting a new kayak and preparing my gear for another season, the love of my life and wife of many years was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had paid my fees for a kayak bass tournament back in January, so my wife told me to go ahead and fish it. I drove the six and half hours to the tournament, launched my yak, but returned to the ramp after just a few minutes. My heart just wasn’t into it. Time passed and the day of her surgery arrived. I was able to bring her home after three days and spent several days empting her drainage bottles and tending to her other needs. I spent the rest of the summer helping her recover both physically and emotionally. During those many days while she slept, I played with lures and other equipment, sat in the garage and looked at my yaks, and kept abreast of everyone’s exploits here on the forum. Every day, when one of you posted a picture of a new PB, I was there with you, in spirit at least. September came and my wife is back on her feet and is again her ole self. She encouraged me to get out and do some fishing. I made a short trip to my favorite wildlife refuge, but I didn’t get much fishing done. It did feel good to get out and paddle around the lake and take in the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. I’ll probably get out one more time, but then I’ll call it a year as the old bones don’t handle the cold like they use to. The doctors have given my wife a clean bill of health and we are looking forward to her next checkup this coming January. If that goes well, and I think it will, I plan on hitting those lakes like there’s no tomorrow. I might even pull the trigger on that new Big Game II…it looks like one mean fishing machine. Twenty plus years in the military, watching kids grow into adults, and growing old with the woman I love has taught me a valuable lesson; life is short and it will on occasion throw you a curve ball. If I could share just one thing with all of you, it would be to never take life, or the people you care for, both family and friends for granted. Although we think there is no end when we’re young, time is fleeting and there is an end. This season is ending and those hawgs got a pass this year, but look out…I’m starting spring training right now!
  21. Easy, slow rain, no problem. If I hear thunder and/or see lightning, I'm out of there. Years back when I was fishing during over cast conditions, I heard thunder in the distance and paid it no mind. Then I made this one cast and the hair on my arm stood up and my line floated slightly up just in front of my boat. Couple of seconds later a bright flash and very loud bang knocked me back on the deck. It didn't hit me directly, but it hit somewhere nearby. That experience was my wakeup...now days when I hear thunder, no matter how distant, I stay off the water. I'll leave that to you brave souls.
  22. Pop Max in Aka Tora. Add the Owner dressed treble in burnt orange and get ready for the blow ups.
  23. You can flip or pitch from a sitting position. I practiced one winter sitting in my kitchen which is 30' in length and by the time spring had came I was pitching into a one foot square at 18-21 feet. With practice you'll be doing it in no time. I've posted this video on the forum before and I think it proves the point. Now, unless you speak Korean you will not understand a word he is saying, but it does show that pitching while sitting is possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPLJwPZqjXg&list=FLs2PY0DhzkMOd3x6_1WgVkw&index=7
  24. I like the Dredge jigs...can't beat those Owner hooks!
  25. LC BDS 2 in Chartreuse/Black.
