  1. Scotty rod holder mount with 1/2" PVC, threaded cap and a base off a camera tripod.
  2. Took the kayak out this morning and landed this girl using a River2Sea Bully Wa frog.
  3. This is a good way of testing a bite, I use it a lot. However, if you see your line moving, that's a sure sign the fish has it in its mouth.....set the hook. I've caught myself "sleeping at the reel" many times as I watched my line move across the water.
  4. I use a 6/0 EWG for the 12", but a 5/0 will do in a pinch.
  5. The Bait Monkey has been put on high alert.....get ready sir, you may have been bitten by the bass bug!
  6. The Flip camera records for two hours, so I start recording when I launch the kayak. I'll download that clip when I get home. You can't see it in the pic, but there is another mount up front. When I get several clips downloaded I'll use a movie editor to cut and piece everything together. It actually works quiet well. I know of some people who use video cameras that are controlled by a remote.
  7. There are quiet a few brands out there, I suggest searching the forums and talk to some people who use them. I do have one bit of advice; don't get a yellow or orange craft, the bees will have a party with you when you're near the shoreline
  8. Made this mount using a base off of a tabletop tripod and 1/2" PVC and threaded connectors. It's very stable and fully adjustable.
  9. I always need a cigarette when I catch one.
  10. I was never an expert on hook styles but I like wide gap hooks on a jig when I can find them. When I visited this guy I noticed he had large bags of Mustad hooks hanging on peg board behind his molds; does anyone know where you can buy hooks in bulk like that?
  11. Thanks tcroot, point very well taken.
  12. Sorry bout not getting back, I trimmed a couple of the jigs, but for the most part I like a longer skirt. The guy that made them doesn't market these jigs, he makes them during the winter months when he's not out fishing himself. I met him through another friend in Illinois and was able to talk him out of some. He's an old timer, sort of a local legend around where he lives and is known for turning a lot of kids on to fishing. He's kind of hard to talk to sometimes if he doesn't know you but if you get him talking about getting envolved with kids he warms up to you. His wife is a lot easier to get to know. Anyway, his name is Bill and his number is (PM for Number). It's easier to get ahold of him on Saturdays afternoons and he goes to bed early. He pours his own jigs and uses wide gap hooks which I really like. I gave him six bucks each for his trouble and IMO they're worth it. I've paid 5-6 bucks for store bought jigs that are not half the jigs these are.
  13. I prefer the sit on top kayaks. There's many to choose from and they're made for fishing.
  14. Got another box today with 120-130 strand jigs. I've already caught some nice ones on the craw colored jig like the ones on the right. I can't wait to throw the black/blue jigs.
  15. I've got the Sospenders and never had a problem in the rain. I did have it go off inside the locker on my boat once, but I'm sure it was the intense humidity we were experencing.
  16. Rubber band works great. http://billdanceoutdoors.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?topic=12923.msg120029#msg120029
  17. The Strike King clip-on that Walmart carries works good. I also use Cacoon clip-ons.
  18. BOOMER SOONER!
  19. Oooops....should have read this thread first, I just posted on this subject. You have to admit, that is great service though.
  20. I was reviewing a post on Tackletour and came across this one concerning a guy's newly purchased Powell rod. Keith from Powell rods read the post and provided the guy with a quick response. I'm happy to see that some company reps go on these forums. http://www.tackletour.net/TTForums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=48367&start=0
  21. River2Sea Bully Wa .........enough said, now "Get er done."
  22. Hang in there guys...as of today, 39 days til spring!
  23. I just got my DX704c yesterday from TW. You can see they went the extra mile on these rods. If this rod performs as good as it looks, it's going to be a winner in my book.
  24. Definately by depth.
