  1. Black buzz bait, jitterbug, and frogs.
  2. Go to *** and print off the rebate for Berkley lines. Then order a couple rolls of Trilene 100% Pro Grade Fluorocarbon, it's good stuff.
  3. Ocean Kayak Trident 13.
  4. I do not have as much of a problem with the sales tax as I do with shipping charges. I make 20-25 online orders each year to tackle stores so I'm always looking for deals regarding shipping and handling. I do not order from BP or Cabelas unless I can't find the item elsewhere or they run a special on shipping. I know BP an Cabelas have contracts with FedEx and UPS and are getting their shipping done a lot cheaper than what they are charging the consumer. They ARE making a profit from S&H. I now order almost exclusively form TW, BTD, or or other suppliers who offer free shipping on $50+ orders. If TW, BTD, and others can offer this service and still stay in buisness, then the kings of tackle like BP and Cabelas can too.
  5. I actually meant this thread to be a little poke at some humor, but since you brought it up, I usually stay away from water where the big boys run. However, there are a couple lakes where I'll have to cross main channels to get to my favorite holes and I appreciate the boaters who give me a wide pass. Contacting a big wake really isn't a problem as you can simple ride over the wave. My biggest fear is the boater who might not see me. As kayak fishing gains popularity, I'm thinking this will become a serious problem. I have a bright, red flag and an air horn, but these things ride so low in the water, I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before we read about a tragedy between a motor boat and a kayak. (knocking on wood)
  6. I'd check out this site, lots of info and reviews in the forums.
  7. For all you folks who think you're cute flying by us kayak anglers in your bass rockets, well, we're not going to take it anymore. (click the thumbnail)
  8. Never thought about it like that....let the kayak be the drag.....that's good. Great video too.
  9. Manns Jelly Worm, the only worm you'll ever need.
  10. Our daughter was never much of an angler, but she is learning to really live.
  11. My father would only use spincast reels, I tried to get him to use spinning reels, but he wasn't having it. I got him a Daiwa Goldcast one year and it turned out to be one smooth but tough reel. I knew it was a tough reel when I saw him rinse it off in creek water and it kept ticking.
  12. Quanah Parker Lake, near the visitor center, is the largest and has the best access.
  13. Don't give up on the refuge. I've done very well on those lakes, however, you're limited to the number of sweet spots unless you have a tube, kayak, or similar craft. You're not allowed to use gas-powered boats and for good reason, it's a wildlife refuge. I logged 128 bass on the refuge last year and of those, 64 were 5-6 pounders.
  14. Friend sent me this on YT. Some great footage of bass taking various baits. The music is a little loud for my taste, but it's an awesome video.
  15. Here's a couple possibilities, contact these folks and ask for some pointers. You'll have to start an account on youtube if you don't already have one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPJK1qG2jaU
  16. Why not have it set up to do both? I would think that you could make some nice videos containing scenes from both angles. BTW Nick, is that your kayak in your profile picture? What make is it?
  17. Hey Jason. This video explains the type of pvc caps used to make this mount. However, using a regular threaded bolt to attatch the camera may mess up the threads on your camera if you do not use the proper thread count. I removed the base from a camera tripod which will be attatched using its own threaded screw and used this screw to fix the camera base to the threaded pvc cap. Pick up a cheap table tripod from WalMart and you'll see what I'm talking about. When you use a base from a camera tripod you'll be able to adjust the camera and the length of the pvc pipe will not have to be exact. Important:Use self-tapping screws and marine grade silicone to attatch the Scotty rod mount to your kayak. Ive also included another picture showing a camera mount I removed from another table tripod I purchased from WalMart.
  18. I just bought this one made by Stohlquist to use on my kayak. It offers a lot of freedom of movement and doesn't get in the way when casting and paddling.
  19. Here's mine mounted on a tripod base attatched to 1/2" pvc/caps and scotty rod holder base. There's also a shorter mount on the front visible in the bottom picture. It's fully adjustable left to right and up and down.
  20. That's a chunk! What did you catch her on?
  21. Way to go! Wait til you do your first roll cast, you'll feel like a pro.
  22. Happy Birthday and congrats on your new outfit. Now you've got to take it out and catch that fish of a lifetime.
  23. sensation is a copolymer line.it is made of 2 different nylon blends which makes it a copolymer.all lines including fluoro are actually monofiliment lines.mono means one filament or strand.in fishing monofilament generally refers to single blend nylon lines.flouro coated lines are hybrids and are mistakenly refered to as copolymers sometimes.copolymers existed before fluro coated mono came out. i used sensation for 2 years and liked it.it is a very sensative mono.i have heard of guys having line breakage issues with it but i never had that happen when i was using it. I never had breakage problems using it, but it seemed to have a lot of memory. If it wasn't for KVD line conditioner, I probably wouldn't use it.
  24. Oh yeah, black cavitron at night!
