  1. Try this. http://www.fritzsvintagelures.com/frogs.htm
  2. There you go, switch to Gamakatsu or Owner EWGs and your problem is solved.
  3. Your summers are probably not as brutal as ours down here, but the garage is the last place I'd put tackle and baits in. I've seen the mercury hit 110-120 inside my garage in the summer. Our youngest has left the nest and I now have one of our extra bedrooms to transform into my man cave/tackle room.
  4. CB's Hawg Sauce
  5. OMG! $148 and it goes up from there. I paid less than $20 for my copies. I guess I better take care of the one good copy I have.
  6. Great book! If you can find a hard cover buy it. It's worth the extra money. I've worn out two soft covers.
  7. 9" Blackberry Jelly Worm
  8. Be careful, I hear this hobby is addictive. My brother started making his own jigs a few years back and now I have more jigs than I'll ever use. I have found that you can make jigs just as good, and sometimes better than the ones you buy. You might consider moving this thread under Tacklemaking.
  9. I'd like to know something about those Hobie kayaks and the drive system, can they manuever through the mats? The lakes I fish around here have a lot mats and I'm always crossing them with my Ocean Kayak and have wondered how well the Hobie can cross them. I have been attracted to the Hobie ever since I saw how fast they scoot across the lake, but at the same time I've been concerned about their ability to move in the cabbage. Another feature I like about them is their construction, they appear to be more solid than other brands.
  10. I wish I could use a peg board. My garage gets way to hot in the summer here in OK so my tackle has to be stored in the man cave in the house. The wife is still boss as far as what I put on the walls.
  11. I use the Rubbermaid Roughnecks to keep my plastics organized at home, they are about the same size. I fish out of kayak most of the time so I use a small plano soft bag to carry what I need for day trips. The Tupperware or Rubbermaid boxes are excellent for keeping the factory bags organized at the house.
  12. It was the mid 1960's, my dad took me to a local lake and handed me a Zebco 202 with a red Creme worm and I landed a 2 1/2 lb bass...I've been hooked ever since.
  13. Answered my own question...this is even a better read! Didn't realize Bass Resource had articles of historical context. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/plastic_worm_fishing.html
  14. Didn't really pay attention to the jig theory RW, I just like listening to the old school talk about how they were fishing back in the day. I have a question for you though; were those purple worms home made or were they manufactured? When did the plastic worm first hit the market?
  15. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. I always like listening to the veterans of bass fishing.
  16. I went shopping for these Boss Hubs after I saw an earlier post by you A-Jay. The heavier punch weights that allow the addiing of skirts are ok for the mats, but I've been looking for something that allows the use of lighter weights for a long time. This setup has turned my creatures into super creatures. You should see it rigged with the Damiki Monster Miki...sick!
  17. Give the "Un-Jig" a try, you won't be disappointed. A skirted T-rig using a Boss Hub.
  18. I've got the punch weights designed to add skirts and those are fine for getting through the mats, but I wanted a way to add skirts to my favorite creatures without the heavy weights to use outside of the mats. Ordered the Boss Hubs and got to try them out yesterday, and all I can say is...WOW! This device allowed my bait to fall slow and the bass were hitting it hard on the fall. This is a great alternative to jigs without giving up the skirt. Got to order more!
  19. I agree. I've used the generics and on occassion I still do, but over the years I've found more times than not, nothing beats the real deal. The key to not breaking the bank is to plan ahead. I start looking at what I've used around the end of August and then I wait for the major sales, which always materialize like clockwork. Restocking during a 15-20% sale can really take the bite out of the bait monkey. My favorite name brand worm ends up costing me 17 cents, creature 47 cents etc. That's affordable fishing in my book.
  20. The wind always presents a challenge, but just wait until you take it out when the water is smooth as glass...you're in for some good times in that yak. You're going to find that getting up close to those bass without spooking them is going to become a whole lot easier too. I can still remember the first time I set the hook on a 5lb+ bass and it turned my yak around 180 degrees...what a blast! Welcome to the world of kayak bass fishiing!
  21. X2 for sure.
  22. I use braid for the soft boddied frogs, but mono is still my line of choice for all other top water baits.
  23. Now that's a HAWG! Give us the details.
  24. Great reel! I use the Calcutta reels more than the rest of my reels, you made a good choice.
