  1. Keep it simple when canal fishing. All of the above baits will catch you fish. Also, there is an array of other soft plastics that will work also. For ex, trickworms, centipedes, finesses worms, flukes were mentioned, buzzing frogs, the options are endless. What I found in my experience, canal fishing is all about the gear and the approach you use. Use the lightest weight and line you can get away with, and your approach must be stealth like. Bass vision is unbelievable, and if you stomp your way to the bank and cast in front of you, game over. Keep your casts to the sides, walk slowly, and keep your rod tip down. Keep the color of your clothes to earth tones. Some may disagree to these extremes but these fish aren't dumb. Lastly, do not leave home without polarized glasses. Bass will be right in front of you and you will miss them.
  2. I have both the G3, S and STX and I have zero complaints. I will advise you however if you get the S, once you start fishing with it keep a close eye on the faceplate screw located on the right side of the reel. If not screwed tightly, it will loosen and cause your spool to lock during your cast. Not a big deal, just be aware of it.
  3. What's the power rating of the rod itself? That will determine if you have the backbone needed to stick and fight the fish. I personally will not use anything less MH. I use H for my frogging rod. If you have the right power rating, the weight of your bait should not be an issue.
  4. You can tell its summertime. Every other thread is about frog fishing. LOL. I answered the same question yesterday. Look at topic threads and you will find the answer you are looking for. Good Luck.
  5. MCS, best wishes. May baby and mommy do well. AK-NJ1986, thanks man. I lost a monster half way to the boat yesterday. Broke my heart. If you ever find your way down here to South Fl. send me Pm.
  6. Looks like the same size as Live Target's small frog. Only difference is the price tag. You will definitely catch some bass with that little frog.
  7. Look on the bright side. You were able to swim after your boat. If that happen to me I will have to call out for a boat because I share the water with tons of gators. Yikes!
  8. Looks like its game on in June gents. MCS this is the week the baby comes right?
  9. At least you saw signs of life and got your heart pumping. We are entering a nice part of the year for pea's. Summer time is brutal for us, but pea's are easier to come by. You will be a pro in no time. Keep at it.
  10. WW2farmer said it best. It's not the frog. Yes, we will miss some fish and some will get unbuttoned. However, consistently missing big strikes? I will start questioning technique.
  11. RIP. I was out in the Everglades yesterday when a big storm came through. We had to take refuge under a bridge. Very scary when lightening is cracking all around you.
  12. I just saw the pics and the order was reversed. Sorry.
  13. Finally I can put some fish on the board. Like I mentioned on Fri, went to the Glades yesterday and I managed to catch these fish. Pretty tough day considering how high the water was. In order of appearance. First fish, 16.5", 2nd 17", 3rd 16", 4th 16", and 5th 15". Total top five so far in June 80.5"
  14. Fstr385, good luck tomorrow bud. Maybe you can take a page out of Capt. Shane's book. Have you seen those pigs? I will stick with my fishing grounds I have never fished the lake before. I hope the rains have not made bass start their migration back into the glades early.
  15. Pea's in my experience like fast moving lures. They only time I have had luck with them using plastics is if I come across a bed, and then they can really get aggressive. Most of my luck with them has been with some sort of jerk bait. Good luck.
  16. Awesome fish Shane. With fish like that business must be or will be booming. Congrats!!
  17. Sweeet fish!! You have to strike while the iron is hot.
  18. Awesome! My fishing days are seriously numbered in June, with school out and all. However, I hope to put some numbers up quick starting tomorrow because I am going to my monthly trip to the glades. Fstr385, congrats.
  19. Personally, Live target. Although I used Spro before Livetarget came around. By one of the top three suggestions and let us know what you liked and how you did in the tourney.
  20. Enjoy your purchase. When I bank fish people sometimes walk by and hang with me to shoot the breeze. I do not know why but several times we end up talking about eyewear. Believe it or not, there are many people who still do not know about polarized lenses. I take off my pair of glasses to show them and they are speechless. The point I am trying to make is do not sacrifice your eyesight when fishing. Great sunglasses I believe are game changers.
  21. All of the advice given to you is spot on. Go to a BPS or other Costa provider and try them all out and then make a decision. My brother in law made the mistake of accepting a pair of Costa's and kept them although they were tight behind the ears. They still drive him nuts although they are awesome lenses. Do not make the same mistake. Sun glasses should fit like a comfortable pair of shoes. You are going to be wearing them for hours, you should not be uncomfortable during that time.
  22. Up until very recently I was the complete opposite. I caught all by bass twitching, and hopping. Then last month for whatever reason I started walking the frog and still got pretty good results. I guess we adapt based on what presentation the bass wants.
  23. I am almost as far South as you can go.
  24. All of the above responses make sense and I would also like to add that the center is infused with megastrike and for bass it will be like biting into a jelly filled doughnut. Yum!!
