  1. AK, look at the pic I put up, where the red arrow is located, is where the 6lb exploded on my frog.
  2. I like seeing AK and MCS getting outside their comfort zones and using B/C's. I am telling you, its going to change the way you approach fishing. Ever since that big one on Sunday, I have not been able to catch anything worth culling. I lost a nice one on Tues, that would have gotten me closer to AK but it got off. I will head out and try for an hour or so later. Yeah, AK, you would have gone crazy where I was on Sun. The pic does give the place justice.
  3. Andrew, sounds like you guys have to do equipment checks. I am sure the reel you broke the other day, was showing signs of a crack somewhere you were not aware of. Your buddies rod must have been damaged already also. Remember, braid is very powerful and you have make sure your reel's drag is properly set at all times when handling braid or heavy lines for that matter.
  4. It's amazing the lengths we go through to save a lure. LOL. Gators sometimes show up when you least expected. Especially when it rains a lot. Fortunately, you laugh about this experience.
  5. Welcome aboard. Ding...Ding... Ding... We have a new contender for bragging rights entering the arena for August. Nice catches. I like the swag face you got going.
  6. Whoa...Whoa....Whoa... there are prizes now!!! AK, you are going down!!! You are starting to get cocky. LOL. LOL. Funny reading the friendly rivalry between you and bass czar. You focus on him and don't pay too much attention to me.
  7. Yeah, you should get your rest and sleep through them both.
  8. MarkH, great point. I am glad you brought that up. Out of all of the frogs I have, only 2-3 frogs have some sort of modification to them. The rest are fished as is out of the box.
  9. Looks like a subtle bait.
  10. That fish looks like a 2 - 2.5lb fish. I think those calculations may have been a little off.
  11. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Especially in bass fishing.
  12. The way the fishing has been going with you lately, I would say stay sleeping again..
  13. My approach was simple once I saw what I working with. That place was screaming for a frog. And it didn't let me down
  14. Andrew, your conviction on these frogs is so compelling that you have me seriously thinking in trying one. Are they hollow body or are they soft plastic topwater like a rage toad or a zoom toad. I have seen Ribbits but has topwater buzzing frogs not the hollow body variety. Have you used a Koppers frog yet??
  15. Yes, definitely tie your braid directly to the frog or you will have your heart seriously broken.
  16. LOL. "boat" not "bait". I thinking about fishing too much.
  17. A yak, or pond prowler type bait would be really practical to have. It would open up your options a whole lot.
  18. Basshole8190, thank you for the clarification, the explanation makes sense. I do use Booyah's however next time I buy a frog I will look at one and see the hole you mentioned. Thanks again.
  19. I fished with jerkbaits and cranks for years, I respected the hooks, until I got really hooked in my thumb. Unfortunately, it required an ER visit and now I REALLY respect baits with treble hooks.
  20. BadContrakt, don't feel bad. Summer has been slow for me too this summer. The Florida heat can be tough. You have to keep at it and take advantage of what summer time patterns can throw at you. For ex: taking advantage of the temporary cool down afternoon storms can produce. Those same storms depending on duration and intensity can cause water to move which can stir things up and cause the bass to actively feed. Keep at it. Everyday is new day, you never know what it will bring.
  21. I landed a sweet 6lbr yesterday on a frog, with my Lews MG that I mentioned earlier on 7 ft MH Avid on 30lb braid. The rod and reel worked perfectly together. The only thing is that the Avid runs $30 more of your upper limit that's why I recommended the Rage that runs around your budget.
  22. Do you remember dropping the reel? It may have cracked and with all those big fish you have been catching and missing. The battles could have made the crack worse until it finally gave way.
  23. Basshole, I do and have done the mods you have mentioned, except the hole with the paper clip. You actually find that the hole in the rear actually helps with drainage instead of contributing to taking on water? The hole, stays right at or below the water line depending on how you work your frog. The only time I take on water is after a good missed strike. Hole or not after a strike as violent as a bass strike and can't see that little hole draining water. Please help me clarify.
  24. Yeah, I misread Bass Czar. Sorry.
  25. Spro's are nice frogs, however, when I came across the Live Target frogs I have not looked back. I cannot speak of the other frogs, but the koppers frogs last a while. I have landed 50 bass on one, before it was torn and it would take on water and sink.
