Anyone get out lately? I actually was able to take the Kayak out to Osawatomie lake Friday. The fishing sucked but the water temps were up from last time,
It was 37* in December and was 40* in January.
The spool ports are sharp on the inside of the spool. If you get spooled it will easily cut your line and leave you with an empty reel...
If you aren't worried about getting spooled tie away.
I have the same one and I hope I don't have it dialed in yet because it doesn't show images nearly as well as the video of it on birds site. I've heard some of the 570di have problems showing depth at under 10'. I think mine may be one of them I had the ducer "clicking" and had to power it off & back on to get it to work again
This thread has some info on it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/95298-dsi-for-small-boat/page__fromsearch__1
It's a great looking reel & I like the way the break is set up on it but I've heard they aren't smooth at all... To be honest I can't imagine it being any rougher than my Core 50.
I got this reel for $99 on Black Friday and am not sure what to do with it. Does anyone have one that would like to chime in on it? I've heard mixed reviews on it... Does it excel at throwing light baits or heavy baits ? Would it make a good pitching reel with 15-20# flouro on it?
Or should I go with my gut and put it on the "Bay" and get a Diawa?
BTW it's still NIB and is my first Quantum hence all the questions.
At least someone else tries to hide the price of there rods. I'd say deep down we know we spend WAY too much on our equipment.
Did I just say that?
Don't ban me!
It depends on how "good" you think you are with a baitcaster. I have had 50Es that had stock flushed barrings that casted GREAT with only 1 break set and 0 spool tension and almost no thumb until the end of the cast.
On the other hand I have a 50 Core that I can set 4 breaks and a lot of spool tension on it and I can still backlash it like a champ!
I am in no way saying not to get the upgrades I'm more or less just rambeling...
I see about 3 options,
1 go with a spinning reel
2 Try a Shimano 50e It does good with lighter baits but 1/8oz?
3 Fish bigger baits & catch bigger fish!
I started out with a Zebco 33 (well over 33 years ago) so wen I started using my dads spinning reel the handle was on the wrong side.
I ended up getting a Mitchel 301 & a 308.
So for me the handle was on the wrong side of the spinning reel.
