For a good cheep scope I'd look at BSA or NC Star.
3x9 or 4x12 should work well but I don't advise anyone to shoot much beyond 200yds. It just gets too iffy beyond that.
Anyone seen the new Villain rods by Abu? I'm not sure I can get past the reel seat ! Maybe if they put a lime green rear grip on it the reel seat wouldn't stick out as bad. Anyhow it's nice to see them with a higher end rod ($180). I'm curious to see how it'll stack up against some other rods in that price range?
I also saw that Cabela's has a new $200 White rod that looks pretty nice and has micros. Anyone know who makes rods for Cabela's?
I suppose I should really address the second part of you post
Pros= Price & if you reload specifically for your gun you can develope a far more accurate round than can be store bought.
Cons= A 45 ACP CASE IS VERY LARGE IN COMPARISON TO THE VOLUME OF POWDER IT NEEDS MAKING IT EASY TO DOUBLE CHARGE!!!
This means you can easily add the powder to the case twice by accident. A lot of rounds like say a 223 will not hold 2 loads and sometimes need the powder to be compressed by seating the bullet to get enough powder in the case but the 45 can actually get a double charge and not look over full.
I shoot handloads 100% of the time out of my 4'' XD45
I will only load (230gr) FMJ. I don't like to touch the lead if I don't have to. Unique or Universal are decent powders for 45 ACP, I'd be curious what powder they use?
Maybe we need FMJ Sinkers to fish with?
I'm sorry but if you can't tell him EXACTLY what you want and he has no idea how to build a Bass rod I think you need to find another builder.
That said look at a rod building site like Mudhole and find the guides/seat you want and ask if they will work for your application.
That reminds me of when I was working for JE Dunn, We had some "superiors" that couldn't read plans for ***** so we coined the phrase=
JE Dunn, we do it nice, but we do it twice...
Or was it Thrice?
I'm surprised by all the good reviews the Veritas is getting. Every time this was asked 6 months ago the general consensus was that they break too easy.
I sold a 7'm that I liked a lot.
I bought a 7'6'' mh that I like a little.
That sounds like an awesome SKS! A VN bringback with no import markings is a collectors dream. It may have had some paperwork with it showing how it came into the country, If he has that it's even cooler . By Red what do you mean? Is the stock wooden?
91 is 308 & 93 is 223
EVERY SKS was imported by someone. Look to see who imported them . It will be on the barrel or receiver. I sold a 1951 Tula last week and I think it was a CIA (Century)
BTW I've never heard of a Pre Ban SKS I don't think they were part of the AWB but then I do remember seeing them without Bayonets so maybe they were Neutered during the ban?
You have almost surely seen or shot a gun that was either built or imported by Century. They imported TONS of Nagants and SKS Rifles & built or had built most of the AKs/PSLs on the market like the WASR .
As far as a G3 clone goes they are built with mostly original H&K G3 parts but a H&K rifle will cost $2500-6000 and a Century can be had for $599
Was the first assault rifle you shot a 91 or a 93 ? I don't remember a lot of 93s around back then.
On the Gs the headspace problem was instead of changing the rollers to adjust the headspace the "Monkeys" were actually grinding the bolt.
I have built A G3 from a parts kit and it was way nicer than a "Monkey" gun but if you aren't set up to build just buy one from them.
Worst case you have to send it in to get it fixed... Sometimes they actually do the repairs correctly the first time!
