  1. Mine has me take her to the bank or just hops in if the water is warm. If we go to the bank I have to get out to check for snakes first before she'll get out. I keep a roll of toilet paper in a big plastic coffee container. It fits the roll about perfect and keeps the paper dry. If it's a deuce I'll go to the bank but she has to go back to the ramp.
  2. Not yet but it's only a matter of time. I'd keep checking it every day and maybe someone will put some on there. I know they had a bunch at the Dick's sporting goods display at the Expo at the Classic but I don't think they have any in stores yet.
  3. I thought it was going to be a state record bass. I set the hook hard enough I drove the big single hook on my Mattlures trout up through her bottom jaw and out the top jaw, pinning her mouth shut. Anyone that knows anything about big gar know how hard their mouths are and how much force it takes to do that, I was pretty lucky I did that because it probably saved my swimbait.
  4. Gander Mountains website says they'll have them by the 20th. You could order them there and do next day delivery. Or keep an eye on flea bay.
  5. I really like that Lemon-lime color, I can see some smallies crushing that thing. Juice looks really good too. It will be nice to have a bigger jerkbait that gets down deeper without having a large bill on it.
  6. I've fished the small 3 arm YUM, can't buy a fish with it. I even threw it at schooling white bass with 3 2" sassy shads and they wouldn't touch it. Had the same experience with schooling largemouth this summer with it.
  7. I've doubled up a ton of times on lots of different kinds of baits, traps and shallow cranks seem to be the ones it happens with the most. I've thrown an A-rig a lot but never caught more than one at a time. I've had a couple times that both fish swam together pretty well and fought really hard. I've had other times they fought against each other and was just like dragging in a heavy branch.
  8. I've always used pop bottles and they work just fine.
  9. Yeah I turned the bass loose, but I was talking about the gar. Pretty sure there's enough shad for everyone in that lake.
  10. Nope, turned her loose after the pictures. Need it to eat tons of shad so the bass have fewer options so they can eat my baits more often
  11. Thought I had a DD bass today. This big gal just stopped a 6" Mattlures trout and actually fought like a big bass for awhile and could have had me fooled for even longer had she not jumped. Quite the handful to land without gloves and a bass net that I was trying not to destroy. Just a little shy of 15 pounds, forgot to get the tape measure out unfortunately. My puppy Cassidee was not impressed at all. Actually she was hiding in the back of the boat for most of the fight.
  12. CCC Drew and I fished La Cygne today. Trolling motor problems were the story of the morning and we still caught a few fish. Once I got the motor going again we headed down lake and I caught a 4.39 pound fish pitching a jig into a laydown. Followed up shortly after that with a 17" and 3.09 pounds on a one knocker. Caught a few more small ones here and there on several different baits but the wind died down and the sun came out and it got tough. I jumped off a good fish at the outlet on a jig that was for sure in the 5 pound range if not larger. Saw some big fish chasing shad near the shore in the outlet so I tossed my 6" swimbait at them. I was reeling it slowly back to the boat and it just got pounded about 10' from the boat and it barely moved when I set the hook. I really thought I may have just stuck a DD bass. Well it was a DD fish, just not a bass. This big ugly thing shot out of the water 2 or 3 times and was a chore to land with no gloves and a net that I didn't want to trash. Just shy of 15 pounds. Speaking of shy, can you guess who was hiding in the back of the boat when all hell broke loose in the front of the boat? She wasn't quite as scared of the gar once we were on shore with it though.
  13. Whoops sure is. That's funny because we both counted them, I even counted them twice I guess I'll just have to take 4 next time instead of 5. They weren't hard to catch once we figured out the pattern. It was a ton of fun on light tackle, they about jerk the rod out of your hand when they hit the spoon.
  14. Cbass12 and I got to Lake Shawnee today to chase some of those big trout I've been hearing so much about. Not sure how many we caught but after a slow start we figured them out pretty good and both of us got our limits on top of releasing several each and I got a bonus crappie. Little Cleos were the main bait of choice but we also caught 6 on a Ned rig just to see if we could. My first trout of the day was also my new PB at 5.79 pounds. One of Ryan's next fish was a pig and his new PB at 6.43 pounds. I caught 1 over 4, 2 over 5, and Ryan had his monster to round out our 10 fish limit of fish that we kept. That's a 1X8 board in the picture for scale. My two piggies, the 5.79 pound fish and a 5.41 pound fish.

  16. Jerkbaits and squarebills, and sale items, and lure building supplies, and finesse worms, and beaver baits, and creature baits, and jig trailers. Other than that I'm golden
  17. Just watch an episode of Bill Dance if you want to see how to improperly hold a bass. When you hold them vertically try not to bend their lip out any more than you have to and don't hold them that way for too long. Holding them horizontally and supporting their stomach with your other hand is one of the best ways to hold them without harming the fish.
  18. Zoom trick worms, Netbait T-mac, Zoom magnum finesse worm, Squirrel tail worms, BPS stick O's, BPS crack craw, Zoom baby brush hog, Netbait dirt dawg.
  19. I fish for carp a bunch each summer but my bait of choice is an arrow. They make great cutbait for catfish too.
  20. Wow, very nice eye! I've caught hundreds but I'm positive none of them have been close to that size! Congrats to her!
  21. That's kind of what I was thinking reading how he was catching his fish. Fish suspended tightly to the roots of a cypress sounds like a perfect time for a weightless senko or other plastic if they won't chase a moving bait.
  22. I've also heard of guys using a small, light wire hook tied so the hook shank actually runs back up towards the rod. They remove the barb and use a heavy weight at the bottom like a huge, upside down dropshot rig. The whole thing is towered to the bottom and a simple pull on the line pops the hook back out of the fishes jaw. I've never seen it done and it seem sit would spook other fish but maybe something to try.
  23. Sounds like a fun trip. We'll be swinging by the Trout Pit the 5th or 6th of April looking for a monster.
  24. I'll be at Lake Shawnee with Cbass12 looking for a DD 'bow!
