  1. store locator NC http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/corp/index.jsp?page=storeLocator&selectedIndexValue=&selectedStateIndexValue=&strLocator=&state=NC here looks like the Premier line is on clearance this line is all Ive seen that was reduced and the line I bought. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=11102014&view=all I guess call them be VERY polite tell them you are 60miles away and if they would kindly scan a St Croix Premier rod for you. Tell them you are seeing online reports of good deals on these rods and on their website. Like I mentioned the salesman didnt even know he had more on sale but that is not hard to imagine.
  2. Yesterday when I went the salesman said the one St Croix I bought was the last one they had. I had a hunch this morning and went back to check and sure enought they had some more but they WERENT TAGGED. I had the cashier scan the price of a St Croix Premier 6'6" MH Fast ---yep $23.48, I bought it So a heads-up even if its not tagged with the .97 or .93 have it checked might get lucky.
  3. yeah I left out the packages I have are labeled SUPER FLOATING Ive caught a fair amount of bass with them using a split-shot about 6" up from hook.
  4. I have a few packages of the SK 3X and yes they do float quite well.
  5. Just got back from Dick's got that Suffix Braid and found a nice panfish St Croix Premier rod that rang-up $23.48!!!
  6. I had a 14'42" jon and it was plenty stable for me and a friend or two, that 16'48" no worries Just tossing this out to you around my area N IL a 16'jon 10hp, at times a trolling motor to, and trailer can be had for $700-800 or so used. I bought my 14'/5hp/trlr for $500 sold it for $450 5 years later. $2500 could by a pretty nice used small lake/river fishing B/M/T.
  7. My baitcaster has a perforated spool so I pass the braid throught the holes a couple times and tie-down.
  8. Ive yet to use a swimbait so nothing to contribute other than to say thats a very nice fish you caught.
  9. Ive never used a fishfinder I have a ? to ask. Where is your boat in relation to this picture? Is your boat say above the number "21.9" on the left or above the "pm" on right?
  10. I used 10/2 PP for years on a baitcaster no issues tossed senkos and spinnerbaits. I went to 20#PP for throwing frogs still no issues so far. Too on my spinning reels I have 10/2 PP
  11. I have Scumfrog, Koppers, SPRO and Cabelas JR. The Scumfrogs are the softest of these with Koppers next and SPRO 3rd. Koppers had the dullest hooks. Sorry dont have BPS Here I did a little initial comparison w/pics http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1291573946/0#0
  12. I dont mean to be disrespectful but you should sent it back and get refund or replacement thats what I would do. If that rod was at a store and the salesperson said this rod broke but was fixed do you want it for the same price as this other one that has never been broken. For sure you wouldnt buy the repaired one. It would just bug me to no end to settle for a repaired rod for $450 Too when a product of this price is defective people say "well things like this happen" but have a $80 rod break the same way and you hear "well you get what you pay for." A number of times Ive bought the "best brand" of something only to be disappointed and on the other hand bought the 3rd notch down item to be pleasantly surprised by the item.
  13. If your budget allows guess that reel is fine. Ill just put out there that I have a 7 year old $70 Pinnacle baitcaster that I still use and use 1/8th oz jigs with it just fine. So basically saying that a $150plus reel isnt necessary if the funds arent there.
  14. WOW That is a nice fish! One of the things Ive always wanted to do was take a fishing trip to Florida.
  15. Im going to focus in two areas. 1st one is fishing with jig/trailers combo. Ive bought a few jigs Booyah, Woody's, Strike King. The colors blue/black and green/olive. For trailer I bought Rage-Tail Baby Craw Okeechobee color. With this Im going to learn what presentation the fish prefer- A toss let it set for a while then twitch it repeat.-- Slowly drag the jig back.-- Or swim the jig back. 2nd is Topwater Frogs. I started with them this past July caught my PB after just 15 minutes with one. I went on a frog buying spree and got a few SPRO Bronzeye65 colors GreenTree, Midnight Walker(black) and a Popper in Leapord. I bought some Koppers LiveTarget Frogs Brown/black, Green/Yellow. A few Cabelas brand JR. Frogs. Scumfrog Bigfoot & Trophy frogs. Im going to target thick slop areas and for sure lilypads. My goal will be to get a 20" LMB. MY PB is in the pic to the left at 19 1/4". Ive seen bigger in the lake so Im going after them. As a side I picked-up some 10" worms Strike King RageTail Thumper (greem pumkin) & Anaconda (okeechobee craw). Will try these out a few times if the above tactics arent working.

  18. First boat I bought was a 1442 jonboat. I put in a wood floor to stand/fish on and the boat did great. Had 4 guys in it with no stability issue. This was in my late teens so us 4 guys didnt take the space we do now Used it on rivers and small lakes 350acres and less.
  19. Here my pair of $180 Oakley Warden Polarized at 3 1/2 years old. The outer coating is wearing away so I dont wear them anymore. Now I cant be sure if its my fault or they are defective so Ill pass judgement. I used my shirt to clean the lens so this might have lead to the wear. They say to use the microfiber cloth and I did the first year but stopped after that. I do feel though that as long as the lens of any brand meets 100% UVA/B protection a $200 pair wont protect any better than a $50 pair. You are paying for frame material and mostly name.
  20. Im no expert but I would say the bigger worry would be the graphics card more so than the I3/I5 processor. here's an article on those processors http://techreport.com/articles.x/18216
  21. Ahh just closely related to this. I bought a seat from Cabelas, it came today, on the 4th try the snap to hold seat down broke. The list goes on >
  22. in the article I posted it says same in point #2-- "Float 'n' fly fanatics insist on a stationary float as opposed to a slip bobber."
  23. I had two $2000 HD SONY XBR's go out in a 5 year span didnt/wont buy sony again. I have a JVC now.
  24. What is his hat size? Saw a Pawn Stars episode some guy trying to pawn a hat he was told The Duke wore in a movie. The expert said it was wrong size but never said the correct size, just wondering?
  25. My backbone comparison was based on this comment. I dont know what a "big" fish is to you. To me and what Ive ever caught a 18-20" LMB is big like the picture of my bass to the left < To others it could be just avg. The specific Float & Fly technique the closest Ive came is bobber and waxworm. I may have read into your comment wrong. I was thinking you wanted a multi-purpose rod with Float& Fly attributes but able to use for other tactics which from articles Ive read theses two rods have. Like here http://www.outdoorlife.com/articles/fishing/2007/09/float-fly-bass A rod 8' or longer with soft action, but in the other article posted it say not a noodle rod though. I have to pick-up my son will answer more later if you like.
