  1. my local store is--50% off clearance price. Got senkos and swimkos $2.50 a pack and some other stuff. Yeah I too saw the Ti rods on sale like CrisAW mentioned Reels Supreme XT the gold ones $79 THANKS Diggy
  2. Well if a person looks outside the bass-box where the normal rod power is MH and looks at other fishing types that use L, ML, or even UL and in Moderate action the rods get much lighter and a 7.4oz reel can make a 6'6" ML Mod rod butt heavy. Now yeah you can go to a smaller physical size reel but that creates other issues - line management less drag power. If they make lighter reel at the same spool size, drag power that is a win-win not butt heavy or tiny spool line coiler. There are UL specialists out there that use UL equipment for bass fishing so this is just one area that comes to my mind about lighter reels.
  3. EXO still on my list but wont be buying til April or so, will hope to get more info abot the clutch in that time. How was the feel placement of thumbar high/low didnt take notice so ok?
  4. Well I wanted one did some research and to me there were too many reports of them breaking. Didnt take long to find this just search -veritas broke-, 3-4 people just on this thread had issues and search found many more. I wont link to other site/forums but like I mentioned to me just too many reports so I past. BrandOn can form his own conclusion just giving more info for him to research
  5. I have read quite a lot on this site and 4-5 others of the breakage issues with Veritas.
  6. I fish a small lake 26acres 3-4 times a week and hardly see any orher person with a baitcaster. I use both types routinely and dont really have a preference. Last 3 reels bought were spinning but next will be BC. I have been asked a numbers of times "you using a baitcaster those are difficult to use arent they?" The 3 co-workers I go fishing with all use spinning they dont have BC. So I dont see spinning being unpopular at all.
  7. Dicks has stuff clearanced routinely without being advertised. I and other got St Croix Premieres for $24. On the rack they were on sale but they rang-up 50% off the sale price employees dont even know they are clearanced till they scann it. I asked to make sure of the $24 price and the lady said what it rings-up is the price they will sell it for.
  8. This site has Lighthouse Keepers and is mentioned that lighthouses have 12inch reflectors see: http://books.google.com/books?id=HxotAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA177&lpg=PA177&dq=lighthouse+keeper+12inch&source=bl&ots=hEyQ_FRnml&sig=LSXr2AwJbC8aHo51UvV-Mu6AI0A&hl=en&ei=c6ebToPBEIevsQLtpIy_BA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&sqi=2&ved=0CEYQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q&f=false
  9. Did that today didnt get any shallow3-4fow but went deeper 15fow and caught 2. I deadstick senko then fish a jig or crawler on other set-up. jig 0, crawlers 4, senko 2.
  10. Kids and I like this a lot Some Soldiers getting to THE PROMISED LAND with ELVIS
  11. Its very windy today 25mph or so and just got back used baitcaster w/20# braid-spinning w/10# braid no issues. Had to use lots of thumb though throwing into the wind and more low side casts but still manageable and would need to do that with any line. With the wind though holy cow the senko just sailed off the spinning reel. Use braid for everything for years but been trying other sfuff(co-poly,nanofil) just come back to braid though.
  12. If paying full price for Premier $120-$130 another rod to check is the Quantum Smoke rod. I have both Premier MH/F & Smoke M/F like the Smoke better. A 7' M/F Premier weighs 4.2oz -7' M/F Smoke 3.4oz. I feel the Smoke has better sensitivity as well. Dragging senko on the bottom just get more feeback. Feel senko wobble better/more from a twitch. The Smoke guides are much less noisy(nearly quiet) with braid but my Premier sounds like violin with Suffix PB on. The reelseats are different though so deffinately try the Smoke out to feel the seat if it likeable to you some dont like it others do. Oh one negative when I use spro frog is the Smoke micro-guide tip will get plugged at times fishing braid in slop. In this specific its the only downside Ive noticed with micros.
  13. OOOH!! If this clearance is like the clearance back in January have them ring-up the price. St Croix rods were clearance and then 50% off clearance price but not mentioned. Bought two Premiers for $24 each!!!
  14. Ill add a few more, taken today My favorite spot
  15. x2 yep and it would be like a competition to see which fish would get it first Fish worms in clear water and see it lots of time where 6-7 bass head towards the worm but the one that swims the fastest (usually the small one ) get the worm. that might be why the others are bigger
  16. On the lake I fish the most I say 97% (avg 3 times per week 4-5hrs each time) I dont get skuncked. It is only 2 miles from me and small 26acres. When I do get to go to a couple other lakes one of them I always catch at least one bass amd that a 6-7 hr day. There is another lake go to only 2-3 times a year and that lake Ill get skuncked 50% of the time so that might be why I dont go much but it does hold bigger bass.
  17. Here are some actual measurement used #6 Nanofil 8'MedLt Mod St Croix Avid rod and Shimano StradicFI 1000 reel. A 1/8oz bitsy minnow, 1/8 oz jig w/RT baby craw, zoom fluke.
  18. What are you throwing that you only get 30' out? Even with a Bitsy Minnow, a very small crankbait, 60' is what I toss one. I think though you should try a Strike King Bitsy Minnow they are great little cranks dive 4-5 feet or so. Also walk lightly. My shore fishing many times I go to a spot with large rocks and the bass stay near them and one little thump of your foot and 2-3 bass head out from the rocks. But then knowing this a 1/8oz jig w/ragetail baby craw tossed that way next time lands a nice fish. Nightcrawlers Senkos Jigs w/craw Bitsy Minnow Spro Frog
  19. I checked and that battery rated @32 amp hours so 3-4 hours use by a 30lb motor you for sure should charge prior to going out. Hey I use an inflatable too(See Eagle 124smb) what you have?
  20. Well then, how about Dobyns Champion for $170 6'8" MH/F http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/Fishing/Rods%7C/pc/105591780/c/105740280/sc/105742080/Dobyns-Champion-Series-Casting-Rods/1166212.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fbargain-cave-fishing-rods%2F_%2FN-1102769%2FNo-48%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105742080%3FWTz_l%3DSEO%253Bcat105591780%253Bcat105740280%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNP&WTz_l=SEO%3Bcat105591780%3Bcat105740280%3Bcat105742080
  21. Just tossing this out there. Take a look at Cabelas Bargan Cave they have sales on some nice rods/reels Shimano and Dobyns like this 6'8" Dobyns Champion MH/F $170 match it with a $50-$60 bc MAD mentioned and that might be a good starting point. Have heard many good reports of those Dobyns rods. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/Fishing/Rods%7C/pc/105591780/c/105740280/sc/105742080/Dobyns-Champion-Series-Casting-Rods/1166212.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fbargain-cave-fishing-rods%2F_%2FN-1102769%2FNo-48%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105742080%3FWTz_l%3DSEO%253Bcat105591780%253Bcat105740280%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNP&WTz_l=SEO%3Bcat105591780%3Bcat105740280%3Bcat105742080
  22. Have you tried in that depth yet? I was out Saturday shore fishing, the lake is 20'-25' and just went weightless threw out as far as I could waited then twitched it along the bottom. Caught 10 bass 12"-15". here is one, oh 5" senko size I use.
  23. You know also that you can use the ACS just like a normal seat ECS?? "vanilla" I dont know all the correct terms but yeah I couyld use it like my other casting rod that is regular seat with index finger in front of trigger only thumb on reel. So to me the ACS is two seats-in-one. You dont make contact with the exposed blank though. Did you try it this way?
  24. Well if you need c-clip e-clip try Menards Home Depot or a Hobby Shop
  25. Or take a try at Nanofil made for spinning reels This stuff is growing on me the more I use it. No real management issues once I put the line on tightly and its on a 1000 size reel. Pretty good sensitivity too. Been w-rig a senko and can feel the wobble of it as I twitch it off the bottom. I was strickly a braid user but wanted to try differnt stuff so tried like trilene xl,yozuri, some bps stuff but this nanofil I like much better than those. Braid still beats it in tightline feedback though. Nano better with lighter presentation distance wise the heavier the lure the more even the distance to braid.
