  1. 2 weeks tops. as soon as the Nashua river opens up i will be in it.
  2. There are several places to access the Merrimack, but you wont find me in it with my yak or canoe. flowing much too hard for me. much too had to fish it. except for some insets where the water is not flowing so much with the main river. I would recommend a dry suit if i was putting into the Merrimack down this end. you can catch just about everything in the Merrimack. You could easily fish the Merrimack up at the Bow Power plant. fishing will be slow for sure. Good luck if you go, make sure other people know where you are going. be safe.
  3. nothing fishable from shore yet that i know of. Other than the Merrimack river which is flowing hard Tinker road bridge is still iced over. Nashua river at Stellos is starting to break up at the dam. The Nashua river behind clocktower is open all the way to the Merrimack river. you need a boat. not really any fishing from shore yet. Possibly along the river at the end of Front st in Nashua.
  4. I just purchased a 33lb old town pack solo. Made of royalex. 12 ft. Stable solid and dont have to worry about rocks.
  5. you have to go to the main office in the back during normal working hours, bring license and truck registration. they will fill out a form for you to put in your window anytime you use the ramp. basically says they are responsible for nothing while you are there. i would not temp anyone by leaving a wallet or computer in full sight on my truck seat. i have never had a problem. i usually show up about 4:30 am to get in to fish. it is well lit. and the vehicles are in plain sight. i do carry a taurus 40 with me but have never had to use it other than to scare away bear while out in my waders at some remote walk in places.
  6. yes, i fish the lower part behind clocktower at lot. its wide open now, except for having to drag the canoe or yak over the snow banks. depending on temps/weather i will be fishing it sat or/and sunday. if you go to the ramp at stellos bring your ice fishing gear, wear a dry suit and carry a canoe with you for when the ice splits apart from walking on it. a couple 50 degree days with no freezing at night and that part will break right up. i put in at technology way to fish. its 2 minutes from my work
  7. i agree nice set up. what i am looking is going to be light and stripped down. i want to get thru the woods to some remote water. i dont want to break the wallet.
  8. my boat launch looks the same, but i can get my yak and my canoe over it.
  9. GETTING CLOSE NOW, PART OF THE RIVER IS STARTING TO OPEN UP......... I AM READY
  10. This is my current ride , super heavy , can fish in it all day. i just need the canoe itself to drop 40lbs. the one i am looking for will be a stripped down , carry thru the woods to get to remote pond kinda place , so short as well as light. a 10 ft sportspal , the composite materials are just too far past my budget. my red canoe goes almost 95lbs all by itself, add the battery and motor and gear etc and i am well over 175. this is perfect and stable and big and plenty of room. it fits 2 very easy as well. the one i am looking for may be the radisson 12 footer stripped down. i have seen a 10 footer sportspal (i think) from a few years ago , that would be awesome. but they dont make it anymore. light and short stripped down to the basics.
  11. i am hoping my Nashua river will be open by the last week of March. as soon as the dam breaks up and the water starts flowing it should break up enough of the river that i can get in and get part way up the river.
  12. i have a jackson cruise 10 ft kayak and a 16 ft heavy canoe. i am looking for a lightweight pre 50lbs , pre 40lbs canoe to fish from stable , short for getting thru trails to water , small ponds in the woods (i have wheel set up) , but affordable. not interested in inflatable or tube. or one of the inflatable pontoons. (too wide for getting thru woods) looking for ideas and recommendations. old town 119 discovery seems to be in my price but at 899 but is 12 ft. i am thinking 10 foot. thank you i have a small trolling motor 25 lb thrust i would occasionally use with it. small/short , light , i am located in North Eastern United States, New Hampshire.
  13. Like it or not a ban on small lead is coming to most states. Fight it all you want, probably wont help. There are many alternatives, and you will probably be forced to adjust. Adjust or give up fishing. Some states are talking about a ban on lead bullets also. You dont have to like it but you do have to adjust. If you google it you will find many reasons to ban it. I just got myself a less than 50 lb stand up kayak. I cannot wait to use it.
  14. Most likely in the Nashya river. With a touch of garlic stink on 1 claw
  15. Probably for me a white ragetail craw weightless. White and weightless seem to work well for me early. I cannot find rage lobsters in white.
  16. i will let you know when i get my 8lber here in NH. Its gonna come. Shane will let you know what a 10lb 10oz measures later this spring. Unless Mainebass beats him to her.
  17. My youngest son and his big smallie My grandson and his hornpout out in our waders 18 inch slab on jitterbug
  18. With those water temps i would start with a slow moving crank bait or work a suspending jerkbait slowly. Also depending on depth i would not hesitate to throw a popper, but pop it slow. If its deeper water i would throw a spinner also worked slow. If you can find some rocks that are exposed to the sinlight i would throw a rage tail craw. The rocks will adsorb the sunlight and add a degree or 3 .... if there are craws you might find them there, so you would most likely find fish..... i would try sunny area first. My opinion.
  19. water has been moving fast in the Nashua river, near the dam at stellos it is almost not possible to launch. By wed morning it will be solid and not possible to safely launch. fishing has been real slow , but i have been using my depth finder looking for underwater structure around the sides and slower moving areas. not doing much fishing , just exploring with the depth and playing with the side sonar on a humminbird 598 i picked up. i need a lesson ar 3 or 4 on using this sonar / fishing finder.
  20. canoe is loaded ,,, river is waiting for me to get there in the morning.
