  1. 2 from the pennichuck today. Small place on the left where they have done a bunch of work last year. Right side still has ice. this side is all open and has been for a bit. 1st topwater of the year
  2. i have a basic eagle depth and temp type fish finder. about a 100$ machine and 5ish yrs old. i see these new fish tv advertised all over ebay and other places, i fish basic small lakes and ponds i have about 250$ saved towards fishing stuff and was thinking of upgrading ideas? i have a jon boat and a canoe and would make anything portable. as i do now. i fish mostly bass and pickerel. anyone have any experience with these fish tv ? how far do they see etc.. lighting am i better to save my $ and use the basic one i have? thank you.
  3. NICE !!!! No fish for me today , fished a bunch of open spots in the pennichuck for a couple hours.
  4. I was able to get to the open water at the Pennichuck in Nashua today. Bridge on Tinker road on the right hand side. Cold out there but warm enough. 3 pickerel really really slow on a bright red crankbait bomber. better than nothing
  5. no bass today only 3 pickerel, slow slow slow bright red crankbait bomber at the Pennichuck slow flowing open water temp here in NH was about 30
  6. Got my license today and made it out to the Pennichuck for about an hour. 1 bite on a slow crankbait. not too many spots left around here to fish from shore.
  7. I am going with the Merrimack river and Bow Lake
  8. The big girls and the little guys are still around, they still have to eat. I just have had no luck. As long as the water is still not frozen , just have to learn more about finding them this time of year. I have been using bombers and crankbaits slow, slow, slow, and stopping for a second every 3rd or 4th rotation. Bigger crank baits instead of smaller ones. Unfortunately only the Pickerel have been fooled.
  9. nothing but pickerel on slow slow crankbaits the last 2 weeks
  10. Gumpas in Pelham also . Completely private unless you know someone on the water. I got skunked today at Massabessic.
  11. I am pretty sure i am going to Massabessic. I would like to go to Bow lake or Northwood but dont have time. Need to be home back in Nashua for 10 am. Jon boat has a new, used trailer so i can use the boat again. Any better ideas to go? that are not too far from Nashua? Stumpfield takes me an hour. Massabessic less than 1/2 hour.
  12. If i am relaxing by throwing a lure into a puddle for 10 minutes,it is not a waste of time. Sometimes it may seem like a waste of time. But sitting on your arse instead is the real waste of time. One never know what they may pull out of a small hotel pond filled with ducks, or a little retention pond that you cast from one shore to the other. You would be surprised. You may catch nothing, isnt that why they call it fishing?
  13. We always talk. Its guy hangout time as well as fish time. Locker room etc. What is said in the boat stays in the boat. but always enjoying it. I guess if i had other fishing partners who didnt want to talk it would be quieter. But have not had that yet. When i fish alone i talk to myself. Sometimes i have the radio with the game or some music. Its relax and unwind time as much as it is fish time. Do try not to make too much noise to the boat such as dropping things, banging around the anchor etc...
  14. This would be why a fish cannot be frozen before getting a certified weight.
  15. 4 inch all black brokentail jitterbugs at night and 4 inch saltwater all black poprs during the early morning.
  16. Never is the correct answer, check out this forum ---- Anyone have any luck in SOUTHERN NH yet? under the Northeast fishing locations. Look thru it. you will see some nice pics of some nice largemouth some of these guys caught up here in New Hampshire. You can see the snow, the ice, the boat, and the fish in several of the pics. November, December, Jan , Feb If you can find open water , there is someone who will fish it. You will have to decide it that someone is you.
  17. also i have been reading and watching some video i have read and i believe Shane has told us something similar. Targeting the larger fish. "that a fish wont go after a meal if the energy it uses is more than the energy itll get from the meal" or in simple terms i take it as throwing something a little bigger so that big lady wants it more. I have been throwing 4 inch saltwater black popr and a 4 inch jitterbugs and having decent luck with fish a little larger than i had normally been catching... but also less fish total as smaller ones have not been hitting. another aspect of trying to target larger fish? Shane i am listening. I want that 6 lber. of course once i get her i will want the 6.5 and so on
  18. WOW she's a big one that's for sure. Rage tail ? I am still working on trying to get comfortable with fishing real slow rubber stuff. I get bored with them and go back to my comfort zone of the topwater popr and jitterbug. But i am working on it. I keep missing more than i am hooking with the rubber stuff and loosing tails on lizards. Keep throwing us those hints Shane. I know your helping me.
  19. The other part of the river. I put in at the Millyard out behind Clocktower place off Main st. you need to get permission to park there. its easy and free. i can get you the info for the person to call. from there both directions. it goes to the Jackson Falls dam right after the river goes under the main street bridge if you go right from the launch. If you go left from the launch it goes all the way back to the bottom of the waterfall / dam. where you put in. cannot quit make it all the way back to the dam with a boat water gets too rocky a little before you get back to the dam. similiar to what happens when you get to the Hollis bridge. I am not sure i ever caught any smallies between where you put in and the Hollis bridge.
  20. (Got it within 6 inchs of my reach when the line broke as i was reaching to grab her lip.) one day too late but , I just bought myself a long handle net
  21. new personal best on a 4 inch black jitterbug tonight
  22. Hooked then lost a huge one tonight on Tinker road just before the bridge that goes over the highway. Got it within 6 inchs of my reach when the line broke as i was reaching to grab her lip. 2 casts later i caught this lady. Not as big as the one i missed but still a new personal best I have been lucky in this spot at night most of the season. Its where they did a lot of digging up and Lot of construction work. This one was on the main part of the water, but i have pulled a bunch of smaller ones out on the other side of the little pond
