  1. i twitch mice and frogs everywhere. not just weeds and pads
  2. never tried, but you can access from fields grove really easy. let me know if you try
  3. no need to ever catch one again, i will stick with fish
  4. excellent info guys Thank You. I think a lot of it is just what i am comfortable with. the 15lb braid is thin and casts well but no stretch. I used 10 lb mono last year and felt the stretch was not getting a hook to dig in. heavy mono i assume will stretch less than thin mono, but i still like the 15 braid in green color. lots and lots of weeds are green. I dont count 1-2- i just give it that quick second to let the fish atleast get it in the mouth. Its takes practice and at the biginning of the year i just kept pulling it right out from him and missing the set. I also agree if you miss the set let it sit right there. sometimes they will just come right back and wack it even harder
  5. While bass fishing here in the Nashua river behind the millyard i caught a little turtle. By little i mean , just about 45 lbs and 19 inches across. I did my best to weigh him but he wouldnt stop moving. My digital scale only goes to 50 and kept erroring out. caught him on a little white plastic mouse and braided line. Huge claws. my buddy told me it was called an alligator snapper http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/8dd07965.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/ec13d1e1.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/fc1a4eb1.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/17a49193.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/636e6fd2.jpg
  6. i use braid this year also but only the 15 lb and a stiffer rod than last year. i was lissing many hits last year fishing with plastic weed free mice and frogs. Last year i missed sooooooo many with mono line. The toughest part is waiting that second or 2 before setting the hook.
  7. Kingston have a ramp or only the canoe? basic directions to ramp? I dont know the Kingston area at all. I assume it is easy enough to find?
  8. I believe the only access to the water legally is thru and with the Fish and Game facility. (Horseshoe pond fish and game) I have a friend who is a member there but does not fish so he cannot tell me if i will catch anything or if it is even worth trying. He will go with me though and get me access. Has anyone here ever fished it? I have walked the area and bicycled it also and everything is posted, no tresspassing unless you are a memeber of the club.
  9. With the big race this weekend i want to stay away from the Concord area completly. I assume Massasassic will be crowded as it is Sunday. I think i will head west from Nashua but i have never been in that area to fish. I am willing to travel about 1/2ish hour or so, Suggestions? Milford area? Glen lake? Wilton ? anyone know how to access Babbossic in Merrimack/Amherst? Otter pond too busy on the weekend? I have my 10 foot canoe or my 12 ft jon boat on the trailer
  10. Hit the Nashua river for an hour before work this morning. Managed 3 total ... 18 inch , 21 inch , 23 inch , all deep in the weeds. unfortunatly i forgot my digital scale in the truck so all i have is lenght http://i1040.photobu...13/4d7cd6b3.jpg http://i1040.photobu...13/a27a9816.jpg http://i1040.photobu...13/ef3a4bf3.jpg http://i1040.photobu...13/8af02d03.jpg
  11. I have been told that you need to get to the other side of Massabessic to find fish, but i have never been over to that side. My little 12 ft jon boat would take me all day to get there. I usually just fish the weeds and the islands off of the launch area. Usually good for a few each time out. always full of trailers in that lot, bit it is a big place.
  12. I think the same thing, then i think about it again and say to myself... if i had money to burn i would probably have one also, instead i am quite happy with my 12 ft pieced together from craigslist $425 total special also. ( not counting the new deep cycle extra large marine battery )... sure its small but, light simple and easy and goes many places those guys cannot. ofcourse i also am not gonna be flying across winni in mine either,
  13. These were very well decked out bass boats many with 250 and 300 hp motors, decked out trucks and trailers. atleast 15 of them maybe more.
  14. http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/zacks%20fish/0609101702.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/zacks%20fish/IMAG0143.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/zacks%20fish/IMAG0099-1.jpg http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/zacks%20fish/0609101714.jpg this is what its all about
  15. Turtle pond gets huge pressure, but the 4 pluser from last year comes from the left side fish the weeds back towards the road from the launch area
  16. UNH , I have an old 12 foot jonboat with a 1968 Johnson 5 hp gas motor on the back and a small electric troller on the front. If i leave the Stollos Launch to get to the Hollis bridge takes me 1/2 hour at full speed so i dont get too far up the river. Same goes for Massabassic, usually i just make it out to the islands. but, better than no boat and i have no payments. ALSO KNOWN AS PIECED TOGETHER OVER A FEW YEARS CRAIGSLIST SPECIAL
  17. http://s1040.photobu... river Stellos/ Nashua river 7/8/12 at the Stellos launch area. Between 6:30 and 7:30 am nothing after that. topwater little white mouse , and Shanes Keel weighted Ragetail craw
  18. directly off the stellos launch in the thick weeds
  19. Did anyone fish what looked like a tourney to me in the Nashua river sunday? How did they do ? lots of fish ? just curious.
  20. Nice !!! anytime fishing with the kids is awesome
  21. Picked up a new personal best largemouth on Sunday morning in the Nashua river about 6:30am 6lbs 1 oz , twitching a little white rubber mouse in some thick weeds. We also pulled one out at 5lb 4 oz and a Smallie in the same area just a hair over 4. Pictures as soon as i get my son to post them for me.
  22. i agree for the most part but my 13 yr old pulled a 3 and a couple oz out last year on a frog in the weeds. i believe there is a bigger one or 2 in there.
  23. I have had the best luck at both ends and not so much luck in the middle. walk down the path to the right. there are some spots to climb down to the rocks on the shore and fish across in all the weeds. i had good luck with a white plastic floating rat dragging across the top of the weeds in less than 2 feet of water. very slowly
  24. exit 15 off 93 to exit 1 off 393... go left and follow it all the way around the campus. at the stop sign where the ball fields are you take a right and continue following till you get to the Christa McAuliffe space museum , at the rocket go left and follow till the road ends. On the left behind the hills there is a path you can follow that has good access to fish the NHTI pond. There are many places to fish around the pond so follow it in both directions. I have not fished Horseshoe pond and am not sure i know where it is. also there is some access to the Merrimack river behind the ball fields and off the side of the road. The rocks around the bridge allow you to get a lot of shore area but i have only been there once. I actually walked right under the 93 bridge off of the exit 1 / 393 but did not have much time. exit 17 off 93 follow around the curve and go right. you will go over the river . look to both sides but to the left you will see the old railroad bridges. there is access at the commuter parking lot to get to some water but if you follow down to the rotary and go left , follow past the water works place and take a left if you keep following that road it will end in what looks like an abandoned parking lot, go left after going thru the lot and there is shore fishing and easy boat ramp access. you can also get to the railroad tracks from there and they follow the river. follow the tracks and fish both of these old metal bridges and both of the waters that flow into and out of the river. I have had good luck with smallies and with NUCLEAR SIZED PICKEREL in the inlet areas. I know a lot of people dont like the pickerel but those 25 inch plus ones i dont mind at all. weedless frogs and weedless floating blacklizards. very very slow in the weeds has worked well for me. I have also had decent luck with a big Zara spook in these areas this year. i love the big topwater hit but listen and read what these other guys say. they have been a wealth of knowledge for me. also search thru this northeast area for other posts that are older. there is so much info hidden in these 400ish pages of old posts. also keep an eye on craigslist, everyone in a while there will be a free beat up canoe or small boat someone just wants to get rid of for free. All you need is a life jacket , an oar to go with it some rope all free on craigslist with time and a rock off the side of the road for an anchor. but dont forget though, there are lots of fish you can catch from shore. My personal best although less than 5 lbs comes from shore. Have fun. If i get up in your area with no kids and a seat available in my 12 foot jon boat, i will try to get in touch with you.
  25. the pond at NHTI all the way in back as well as the river over by NHTI i and my son have also had some luck off exit 17. go right and follow it yuo will see the water just down the road. . there are several places to access the water on foot and also a boat launch area that has good access for shore fishing , especially if you do not mind walking a bit.
