  1. bass have been slow for me,,,,, pickerel have been very aggressive. 24 inch and super fat
  2. I have adapted if to fit my liking.
  3. i liked my kayak at the beginning ,it got uncomfortable for me ,i used them for 3 seasons. as i pushed past the 50+ age it started to get too heavy at 59 lbs. i moved to an old town pack 12 canoe (33lbs) lighter than the kayaks. it is made of royalex material. there is another one now made of abs. 12 ft long at 44 lbs. i like it much better. sits up higher so i can see more of the water, very steady and comfortable for me. also has the trolling motor option. I just remade the deck 2 inch higher from last yr. i also made it 2 inch wider (12 inch ) it is 31 inch across at the widest point. with the deck and the chair with the adjustable back it is still under 40 lbs. anchor ropes front and rear , but i made myself a stab in anchor from an old ham radio fiberglass antenna. i have 5 - 4 ft sections. everything i add to it obviously adds weight. depending on where i am going i take this into consideration. trolling motor is about 20 lbs and battery is 26 lbs. the wheel set allows me to get it into places like tower hill very easy completely outfitted with the troller and battery. i can carry up to 5 rods to allow me to easily swap to different rigs without having to retie. again depending where i am going allows me to adjust and leave stuff in the truck if i want light quick easy. with a pad i put on my shoulder i can carry it really easy. also has full mount for humminbird with side image and down image. its 2 yrs into the making and i am sure i will tweak things a little more this yr. the holes in the deck are for long pliers and a pair of cutters. also a coffee cup holder.
  4. A wise old jig fisherman (Shane is younger than me ) wise young jig fisherman told me the same thing. http://www.ragetail.com/news/rigging-info/the-rage-rig/ lots of stuff on the bass resource website. i use this weightless a lot and drag it ever so slow. bouncing it 2 inch at a time.
  5. yes they have had the big orange tractor in mill pond and the river tanking out 10 dumpster loads of weeds and water chestnuts that were clogging up the river and pond the last 2 years , not sure if they will continue with it. i hope they do Fish Mill Pond early as it will fill up with every kind of weed and salad you can think of. it will become very tough to fish BUT..... If you put in the time you will find some nice fish. Those 2 out flows for the water are good places to start. also where it flows into the canal , before you get there it has a bunch of structure in middle area before it turns left. Shane fished it a few years ago and called it a big salad bowl. once the beds start getting made , tool around and count them. according to my memory i counted at least 60 there last year including up into the canal. a lot of 2lbers. if the food is there and it seems to be they should be bigger. it is still quite cold in that and all water around here. Ottenic pond in Hudson seems to be on the rebound in a good way. The tail end of last year produced some nice fish for me. I expect it to continue especially with the mild winter and lack of ice fishing here in Southern NH. If you are interested in big black crappie Lovewell pond on main dunstable across from yudicky field will keep you busy for hours. its a 3 minute walk down the path past the jersey barriers. they eat well too. If you want to spend some time head right down that canal , if you have a 2nd vehicle or you fish with a buddy follow the canal and fish it all the way to the end where if drops at the Pine st extension and pull out there. you will be surprised what you come across for some good fishing in the canal. also oxbow pond behind the mill yard is a good place to try. i know they are there , but i did not have great luck myself. it gets really filled up with pads.
  6. brought the deck up 2 more inchs , have not used the trolling motor on it yet this yr.
  7. pre 50 degrees slowly dragged around some downed trees
  8. slow falling craws like the rage craw, weightless for me, but also with a jig and a trailer. suspending jerk baits and floating jerkbaits, i prefer broken-tail, dont be afraid to throw anything, noisy floating frog pulled slowly across
  9. so we talked about the ban on lead starting in June. --- no problem , just need to adjust but how do i tell what is lead and what is not ? I dont have packaging for my stuff i have bought in the past. I did a quick google but it was not much help.
  10. my fav river , top water toad frogging slow. did not hit it hard but obviously hit it hard enough. 1st 4lber of the yr 21 inch , i forgot my rag, best not set them in the grass or dirt
  11. pennichuck this afternoon, got about 20 minutes in after work before picking up the grandkids. white rage bug
  12. i need to mention, you will see a sign at the boat ramp in the back of technology way. you need to get written permission to use this ramp. its easy, registration and license , go inside the building to the office. they filled out a slip for me to put on my dashboard. NO ALCOHOL , PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF , AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE the basic legal stuff. Many summer mornings i have arrived there at 3 to 4 am to fish the river. and never had a problem.
  13. The other way to get into the back side of Clocktower is behind it off Technology way. there is a parking lot there with a full side boat ramp. go left and you can motor upriver almost back to the bottom of Stello dam. Go right and you can go all the way under and to the Jackson falls dam at Margaritas. look for structure on the edges. if you go left you will come across a hard right turn not far up. fish that corner before you go to the right. there is a bunch of stuff under water (downed trees and stuff i assume) that corner catches a lot of stuff.
  14. Yes, first left off of Franklin st. there is an access there that is marked. but if you keep going back towards the building they just rehabed , thats where i park. I carry in from there. hopefully under the new bridge will attract some fish to that structure. thats the quickest way behind clocktower.
  15. The Merrimack river is running hard, The Nashua river not so bad. especially if you put in off of the Broad st ramp. The big orange safety balls and line are not across the river at the dam area yet so be careful at that end. The river is tough fishing, there is a lot of water there, very big area but a lot if it is just like the bottom of a clean bowl. smooth and dull with no structure. Round pond is completely ice free in Nashua as is Sandy pond. water is still wicked cold , keep your life jacket on. both have a lot of area you can fish from shore , both are easily accessible with a canoe or kayak. fish slow slow slow, and when you think you are fishing slow enough, slow down just a bit more. try some of everything and dont be afraid to give them a nice 8 inch worm meal or lobster sized rage craw. slow lightweight swim baits , really slow sinking jerkbaits , twitch ultra slow and let them sit. fish the bright sunlight areas and maybe youll find some sunning and warming. i really like white this time of yr. the new floating rattle trap in some of the less than 5 ft deep areas where the sun is bright on the water. as always just out of the water flow areas , inlets, outlets , points. probably no green growing yet but if you see some growing green ..... that means oxygen and sunlight. Nashua river behind Clocktower place, the side area of the building where the water is a few degrees warmer (need a boat/canoe.kayak to get there) as well as the buildings on both sides at the Main st bridge. Again you need a boat/canoe/kayak. there is some decent structure in the water just past and under the Main st bridge. (smallmouth not largemouth) also concerning the Bow power plant area............, I think there is a way to find out if they are pulling water . may be just a simple as a phone call. Shane ? anyone else? know.
  16. i was curious so i looked it up. even selling them will be a 250$ fine. http://www.pressherald.com/2013/07/02/to-protect-loons-n_h_-bans-lead-fishing-tackle-they-ingest_2013-07-03/
  17. http://m.wmur.com/loon-death-in-new-hampshire-linked-to-lead-poisoning/34070184 It is a small % , but it is still a %. Similiar reason lead was banned in house paint in the 70s

  24. high school kids just did a 1 day tourney out of lee mills? nhiaa high school results. looks like they caught a lot of fish
  25. Thanks guys for the info. i fished the bay side in north truro off shore road (we stayed at crows nest and the lady there said people catch a lot of fish in this area,) for a day (7 hours) and got nothing walked the beach for about a mile back and forth and just kept casting and trying. I did not find any. i used 2 rods , a 10 ft surfcaster with 65lb line and frozen big clams as bait and just let them sit near the bottom (tied hooks 1 foot up from the weights), then i used my 8 ft med, heavy with 30 lb power pro braid and a wire leader and thru jigs, top poppers , and cranks. (seaweed sucks) While i was getting more frozen bait i talked to some guys who told me always fish the bay side so i stayed and Basically did the same thing the next day but i walked further down towards p-town in my waders and just kept going till i could not go any more, struck out there too. 3rd day i fished forest beach area in chatham, suggested by some fishemen i saw while picking up frozen clams at a market. I managed 1 scup but that was it. i got plenty of sun , my wife enjoyed the beach and i got to fish. unfortunately no fish but i enjoyed it anyway
