  1. i agree with fishing it at night. full moon or the night before, if you get lucky rain will be in the very near forcast of the full moon. Big black broken tail jitterbug ( 3 1/2 - 5 inch one ) I have my best luck from 10 pm - 1:30 am If that doesn't get you what you want , try a bigger double colorado blade black spinner , work it every where. work it slow , med and fast
  2. Also check the new place in Derry that just opened up, i saw some in their flyer today. , ocean state. The other thing thing to consider with sit in vs sit on top , is getting in and out. I am only 5 ft 5 , i have no problems jumping in and out. if i was big i think i would be going for a sit on for what i use it for. also just something i noticed between the canoe and the kayak. In the kayak you are at water level and it can be tough to see weeds , especially small stuff on top , in the canoe the view is 100 times better. also i need to use fishing rods with short handles in the kayak, the longer butt ends tend to hit the kayak and force me to keep my arms up higher. Also i dont use a net, and i have only a small tackle bag. just thinking storage if you are one that needs stuff. sit on types look like they have more room
  3. Thanks I have a very basic yellow patomac $299 from Dicks with a $60 paddle. It is a sit in 10 footer. It is actually up for sale $150 with the paddle and an adult jacket. I want to get a bigger 2 seater for me and the wife. I use it for more than just fishing. I love it. So simple , so easy , so light. It is somewhere about a yr old , maybe 14 months. I did not post it on craigs list yet. When i have the funds saved of $350, then i am going to post it. I need about $500 total to get the new 2 person one. So far i have $300 saved , in another 2 weeks i will post it. $25 a week i set aside. I am an average 50 yr old 175 lb guy and have no problems with the sit in type. There are a few places you can test drive them but most of those places are much bigger $ kayaks. at least the ones i have seen. I use it in the Nashua river a lot.
  4. In the Kayak is Rollins pond Gilmanton, this afternoon 6 total all under 3 lbs but over 2. The ones on shore are tonight between 8:30 and 9:15 the biggest was 5 lb 7 oz - 9 fish total , not all are pictured - my Favorite river.
  5. Wow . talk about a lot of people fishing Turtle pond. at least 13 vehicles, most with trailers and only 1 fishing from the dock. Had to park back almost at the road. Almost didnt stay but i only had the Kayak so i stayed. Fished frogs in the weeds for a couple hours on the right in deep into the weeds. No one was fishing the area at all, even with all the boats that were there. 7 fish biggest only 3 1/2
  6. Fish the rocks from Nashua / Hudson bridge all the way up to Manchester. lots of rocks up in the bedford and merr areas
  7. Merrimack river. Lots of rocks and shore line.
  8. Hopefully it will be awesome for you, I am trying to work it out so i can go again this fri or sat before they are off beds. The water was so clear that at almost 20 feet you could see them on the beds. And the place is huge.
  9. Jitterbug, if you have never been to Merrymeeting i would take the time to go this weekend... It was awesome there last Sat. It will be closer to 1 1/2 hours for you. get up an hour earlier to make up for the extra drive. I got up at 3:30 to leave at 4 am to be on the water for 5:30. I was tired that night but i am going to go back at 3:30 next Sat i think. My other thought would be Bow lake. I have not launched on a trailer there but the canoe or jon boat is easy out of the back of my pick up truck.
  10. 3 - 3 lb + from Merrymeeting lake in New Durham. I had never been there , my buddy took me. what an awesome place. 3 of them in his 17 ft big boat pulled over 40 smallies, 1/2 on top water , I used my jon boat with troller and pulled 10 , 6 on top water , 1 on a spinner and 3 off of beds. There were so many on beds it would have been like lifting chickens to get the eggs. I chose to catch 3 of them could have easily taken 20. I didnt see any real giants on the beds or i would have tried for them but i am sure they are in there. from last wed small largemouth and pickerel in the kayak from some water off the side of the road in Loudon a bit after Venco wings. I do not know the name of it. between pittsfield road and pleasant st on route 129 , cloer to pittsfield rd http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=fflb&q=youngs+hill+road+loudon+nh&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x89e27038626610fb:0xfef0af4f317d3a79,Youngs+Hill+Rd,+Loudon,+NH+03307&gl=us&sa=X&ei=UzOqUZq2GuPD0gG1nIDgBg&ved=0CC0Q8gEwAA <a href="http://s1040.photobucket.com/user/ktm313/media/IMAG0043_zpsf80971cd.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_IMAG0043_zpsf80971cd.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG0043_zpsf80971cd.jpg"></a> <a href="http://s1040.photobucket.com/user/ktm313/media/IMAG0029_zps1b3f504c.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_IMAG0029_zps1b3f504c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG0029_zps1b3f504c.jpg"></a> <a href="http://s1040.photobucket.com/user/ktm313/media/IMAG0030_zps1eee7699.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_IMAG0030_zps1eee7699.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG0030_zps1eee7699.jpg"></a> <a href="http://s1040.photobucket.com/user/ktm313/media/IMAG0039_zps17728ce3.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_IMAG0039_zps17728ce3.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG0039_zps17728ce3.jpg"></a> <a href="http://s1040.photobucket.com/user/ktm313/media/IMAG0042_zps5924420f.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b407/ktm313/th_IMAG0042_zps5924420f.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMAG0042_zps5924420f.jpg"></a>
  11. Lincoln pond i think ,,, Talk to Jitterbug about that place
  12. Going out today after school... No more lacrosse practice = more fishing!!!! ------------ Just remember , you are only in High School once in a life time. Enjoy those years with other kids your age including , Lacrosse , football etc... etc... you will never get those years back. My 20 yr old son regrets quitting high school team sports because he wanted to work 6 hours a week for minimum wage. He didnt regret it then but does now. There will be other times to fish , but no other times for high school sports or extra stuff. Just saying you can enjoy both.
  13. nice job... time to crack the 6. tomorrow would be a good day to do it.
  14. Stopped on the side of route 126 in Loudon. I saw some water and pulled over. Put on my waders and went looking for fish. 7 total in about 45 minutes.
  15. do you have any green stuff growing yet? find oxygen , find bait fish , find structure, then mix it up , double colorado spinner real slow bouncing off the bottom, bounce around a white rage tail craw , slow crank a small and a large bomber type bait , a bright red one , bright yellow one and a black one. inlets and outlets, try something different from what everyone else is doing.
  16. I think i heard the " there is a big fish or 3 in every body of water " from Shane, .... this stuff i say is not really from me, i have learned much of it right here and from other guys.
  17. There is a big fish or 3 in every body. its up to us to find them, The smallie fishing at Bow lake is incredible, if you know the place. it takes time and effort to find them. the big girls are there, they dont get big by being stupid. the back side of the small part of the lake has some huge pickerel in the weeds. There is a small stream that flows in to there. fish that area and back if you want some big pickerel. if your one that likes to eat pickerel , take all you want , especially from Naticook.
  18. Flints has been cleaned up of a lot of the weeds, there are some nice fish in there. Naticook has lots of fish , i have only caught 2 close to 4 lbs. everything else below 2 that i have caught. if you want pickerel , it is also very good.
  19. I like Rocky Pond, very quiet and relaxing place over there. easy launch for the canoe if you dont mind getting your feet in a couple inchs of water. Parking is the problem, I have been asked to leave twice by the Hollis P.D. It is clearly posted very well that this is parking for Hollis residents only. Both times i was just getting there and starting to unload the canoe when people walked by, It is my belief that they are the ones who called the P.D. P.D. simply asked me if i saw the sign , i said yes. they told me i can be in the water no problems at all, i just cannot park on that road (too narrow) or in in the area that is posted. P.D. was nice. Simply said they received the call and needed to do their job. It is the only spot i know of to launch at Rocky Pond. Has anyone fished the area of water across the street form the road that leads to Rocky Pond? It would be on the left side of the road as you head to the right hand turn to get to Rocky Pond water. has anyone fish Dunklee?
  20. Is there more than 1 launch / ramp for big boats at Bow? Is the parking any better than years ago if you have a bigger boat and trailer?
  21. nice fish guys... I am headed to Rocky Pond in Hollis tomorrow morning with my canoe. I have an empty seat if anyone wants to join me. 2 of my buddies will be there with their canoe. pm me.
  22. to get to stump the way i go route 89 to exit 5 http://itouchmap.com/?d=870243&s=NH&f=swamp after you go over the big bridge you take a right and go past the hose farm (please go slow) follow it in you will see signs. go left to the boat ramp. or go anywhere with a canoe or kayak. follow the roads around , you cannot get lost. if you go right instead of left it will take you to a canoe type launch to get to the water. if you can carry to the water you can launch a jon boat etc... it basically takes you to the bridge. there are lots and lots and lots of places to fish from shore down any of these dirt roads. I have not gone left into the Mudget off route 202 and down that end yet with my kayakk or canoe, but there is water access there.
  23. Lot of water there, Lot of fish too. Because i only have the Jon boat i have olny fished around the islands off the boat lunch area. I have had decent luck around those islands. People tlk about the other side as being better, but i have no knowledge of the area.
  24. Butch. Thank You for the pm , i will be in touch. $950 for the day to rent your boat with a guide on Lake Mead is a little tough. I have to give it some consideration before i spend that kind of money. I didnt realize fishing out there was so tough. I may abandon the plan of trying to Bass fish while i am there. Thank You for the info though.
