  1. We made it to the Cape. We are staying in N Truro on the bay side right on the water. Now to find out where to fish. Someone suggested raceway point and frozen giant clams I have my waders and 2 surfcasting rods and some top water plugs i borrowed , popper plug and needle fish plugs.
  2. i am following this. i am in search of the same
  3. I am stuck at 6 1/2
  4. CANOE OR KAYAK AT MASSABASSIC IS ALL YOU NEED. WATER IS COOLING OFF , SLOWLY BUT IT IS COOLING. DONT NEED A BIG BOAT AND TRAILER TO CATCH FISH. MUCH LESS PRESSURE ON MASSABASSIC , GET THOSE LITTLE BOATS OUT THERE. DONT TOUCH THE WATER.
  5. per Mainebass earlier in the thread.... In 2013 I caught a 9-1. I had a dorsal spine and scale aged. The dorsal spine which is the more accurate of the two was aged at 19+ years with "a high likelihood" of being older by the bass biologist for the state of ME. The scale was aged at 16 years old. The scale was aged by a VT fisheries biologist. He said that as the fish grew the growth rings became more difficult to read which is very common with older fish. He said it was "most likely" a few years older then the 16 growth rings he could clearly see. I would guess a 10 lb class fish would be 15 - 20 years old in New England. Right conditions , excellent food source , great oxygen levels , good cover , a lot of luck lots and lots of luck , for the fish as well as for the fisherperson catching it. I have my ideas, there are many places that those big girls could be. Some ponds that get a lot of pressure produce some big fish, and everytime those fish are caught and throw back in they get smarter........ older and wiser.
  6. Thank You for the info. I will def be fishing salt water at a beach somewhere. It is just the wife and i , and its technically our anniversary get away. I am lucky i get to fish an insane amount in my normal life so giving a little here is not a big deal. It will be surf casting most likely , and it will be at a place where my wife has a beach at the ocean. We are staying in Truro so it will be it will be somewhere down there , maybe at the P-Town end maybe before at some of those other beaches. Still time to do some research.......... Swamp - You talking salt water like this with a beach area?
  7. family vacation, well wife and i anyway. wont be any freshwater unless there is a beach. no kayak coming with us either. will have to try to shore fish at a beach.
  8. Going to be there for 4 days . I will get to fish for most of at least one day. Can anyone give me some insight on an area to fish that will have a beach for my wife to relax at for the day. Also what i should fish with. I have access to a 10 ft surf caster and some heavy weight freshwater bass stuff and chest waders. We will be out in the Truro area. Wife will be looking for some beach to relax at, while i fish. Hope to catch some fish , I don't care what kind of fish. I will be throwing everything back into the ocean if i am lucky enough to catch anything.
  9. keep posting those pics.... you gotta get your girl holding her own 6+ lber. Big fish coming soon fattening up for the winter.
  10. RMcDuffee726, you sound upset. Here are my two biggest bass from southern NH this year (First is 6, 2nd is 7) and my wife's 3+. Hopefully this cheers you up a little . Just like Mainebass is always describing, move away from shore and shallow water in the warmer months and hit the first drop off to deeper water. These came on a chatterbait and a spinnerbait, fished in the 10 foot range of a steep drop off that goes from 5 to 16 feet pretty quickly. Most lakes hold big fish like this, it just takes some time to learn the lakes and some basic electronics to figure out depths. You will get on them soon if you put in the time. Good luck. Dog days of summer and summer vacations, i have not fished much lately with work and vacations. The fish are there. Think Temperature. bass like their water about 70 and will do their best to find what they like. They like to be comfortable. water temps here in southern nh are up towards 80 and + ...... bass cannot turn on the air conditioner but what they can do is swim to cooler water and they are sensitive about it. deeper water , cooler water that is in the shade , and under weeds and lily pads especially those out of the sun. I finally get out tomorrow and sunday and expect to find them in these places. at drops where they can come up for bait fish , as well as relaxing in shady places. in my thinking right now it revolves around them finding their temp comfort zone. as the water cools off in the next month or so expect to find them in the sun again assuming temps drop. fish slow , 3 inch black worm or bug and just let it sit for up to 2 minutes , twitch for a few seconds moving in the bait towards you maybe 5 or 6 feet then let it sit. slow moving cranks maybe , or suspending slow. i will be using rage bug in junebug color tomorrow to start.
  11. Thank You , a couple people responded with a little info for Franklin Pierce lake........ Anything special i need to know for the boat ramp? I will use my clarks book to find the ramp. It will be my first time in this area of the state,
  12. Franklin Pierce lake, going with 3 buddies on Friday morning early. on the water by 4:30.. Looking to try and catch a pike, then some bass. I have never been there and we only have about 5 hours to fish. can anyone PM me some insight. Nothing top secret but its a big place. They will have a bass boat with a decent motor. and i will have my 16 ft canoe with troller.
  13. We fished Stumpfield Marsh on Sunday morning 5 am till 8 am.... My buddy was using poprs , frogs , craws and lizaeds both weightless and weighted directly in the lilys and weeds. a few hits for him, but only managed pickerel. Fishing seemed slow. i stuck mostly with my black 7 inch spro rat with red tail. Keeping it as close to the weed edges but also fishing a lot of open water. i cranked it slow all morning. pickerel and 4 small bass as well as 2 bass at the 4 lb mark. both of the bigger bass were about a foot from the weed edge. 1 crushed it so hard i almost lost the pole out of the boat. There is no give on 30 lb braided line on a heavy rod. the hand crank saved it. I was not paying attention when he it and pulled the rod out of my hand. the other one just sucked it under , i thought it was a big turtle. I did fish a bit with bugs and craws , but mostly stuck with the big rat.
  14. my first thought , full moon at midnight to 1 am , 3 to 4 inch top water brokentail jitterbug in black fished slow. Rage structure bugs and craws, try a few different colors dark and light. fish them slow, twitch them off the bottom. i fish them weightless a lot. give them plenety of time to sink. if you have a boat fish parallel to the bank 5 feet out , 10 feet out 15 feet out 20 feet out, especially if you can find a rock or ledge area. Christmas is coming , cinder blocks tied to a few Christmas trees dropped in 12 to 15 or so feet of water will be found by some bass if there are any. tie them in the middle of the tree so they lay down not stand up..... structure , drops , inlets and outlets ,are there any aeration spots? start feeding some fish off the beaten path area if there is one. a place where it is a little quieter. put in the time , if they are there you will find them. are there bait fish?
  15. There are no 10 lbers+ in NH waters, go fish in another state. ------ i agree , there is def a new state record swimming around. the growing season is smaller , will def be an old , smart fish to get to double digit. small water , big water , i think both. I have my ideas including the Merr and Nashua rivers.
  16. I have not been out too much , new grandson , been sitting the granddaughter a lot. Fishing has been good to me so far. Big 8 inch spro rat in black has been good lately.
  17. find the weeds , time to fish the frogs
  18. is this a private pond? i dont know of it, i am always looking for water i have never fished.
  19. I usually start at the stellos area or the launch off of broad st. most of the time i am in my canoe and i dont go too far up. occasionally i will take the big boat with 16 ft deep v aluminum 25 hp motor and go to hollis. i have decent luck at the broad st ramp then go 5 minutes up by paddle and fish the middle island areas. with a canoe/kayak you can put in at the hollis runnels bridge area and fish the golf course side, and around that island. lots of underwater grass. dont forget a heavy anchor. the water flow there is faster. i am going to post some pics in a few after they upload to photobucket. fished in my waders from shore near the broad st launch my fav river in my waders before work this morning. my first 6 1/2 , new best for me, 23 1/2 inch on a full sized spro rat , black with red tail and a bunch of small ones also , last pic is a few nights ago at the pennichuck. no ruler or scale , was a 4ish by my guess
  20. Nashua river was 55 degrees this morning
  21. Some really nice fish in the Nashua river. so many spots. You could fish only the Nashua river from Now till Oct and have plenty of unfished places. One of my favs.
  22. I have fished it only from shore. easy to launch a yak or canoe. let me know how you do. its on my list. to fish both sides. the bridge side first.
  23. There are a lot of nice fish in my fav river. and the river is huge. so many spots to find
  24. Shane , what the heck were you throwing that was 50 bucks.!!!!??? holy cow thats a bunch of $$$ --------- What wasn't so cool, was casting off a $50 bait, on the very first cast with it, and nope, it wasn't a floater.
