  1. i have caught a lot of fish in this boat and had a lot of fun. I have a deep v 16 footer with a 25 hp motor on a trailer and a complete flat deck , my 12 ft canoe all rigged up and , my kayak. when this goes i am getting a bigger , wider version flat bottom. --- everything has come used sales. luckily i have mechanical ability to be able to fix things. thru trading and using craigslist and ebay etc. i still dont have $2500 into all the boats combined. the 25 hp motor i picked up for $50 last year. it needed an impeller. it was completely apart. I did try to get an old Johnson 5 hp fixed at a place down here but after giving them $200+ and still having it not work correctly , i learned i can do almost all of it myself. I just had to learn a little more about them. The library has a ton of stuff and of course the internet and youtube.
  2. for sale , 12 ft $300,with eagle depth/temp also with or without accessories. troller motor $65 gas 2.7 hp $150 trailer only as a package or $500 separate as i will need another trailer for my new 14 footer and they cost about $500 set up like this is. I have added wheels under for easier loading, lowered it , added guide posts that screw on and off of the metal fenders, new tires , and added width to walk down the trailer , also to ease in loading. also painted safety orange. I really dont want to sell the trailer but as a package $900 life jackets, paddles and anchors included with package. The wheels in the boat are a 4 x 4 with 20 inch bicycle tires and hooks, i use it to transport the boat around my yard as well as to pull it by myself to get it into some water i cannot get to with the truck and trailer.
  3. 100 to 150 a month , wholly crap , i maybe spend $200 in a year, not including a new rod and reel every year.
  4. ever seen a white crawfish? maybe thats why i lke the white rage craw , and white baby rage craw so much i just never knew why. for me they have been very successful in the Nashua river dark water.
  5. Nice makes complete sense to me. I know there is no one following me to see where i fish. I gotta assume he has a lot of watchers.
  6. Awesome info. nice fish there too. I suspect we will be seeing a NH version soon Shane. Are there any contests this year to earn you the million dollars by catching a new record. A million dollars can get you a nice place on a really nice fishing lake. In any state. What lake / s did you fish Shane?
  7. Yup , i leave my truck there in plain view , nothing of value in it. What i throw depends on when you go, slow slow right now, on the bottom or slow slow crank baits that dive , i throw a bunch of top water stuff there too as it warms up a bit , if you get towards the bridge throw as far across to the other side as you can get , there are some big rocks sticking up on shore , fish past them right to the shore if you can, its a long cast. as it warms up throw some spinner baits in black/blue or white, i use double colorado blades for noise. its tough to fish jigs with out losing them in the rocks here. One thing i do here is throw a huge bobber for weight with a rage tail baby craw with the weight stuck in the craw tail about 6-7 feet from the bobber. the bobber will drag the craw over those rocks and across the bottom. Have to try to throw over to the slower moving water. you need the bobber for weight to cast as far as you can. just watch the bobber. once the bobber starts hitting the fast current i usually pull it in. Its a little early in the season right now for this i think.
  8. from shore in the Nashua / Merr / Bedford area there are lots of spots to hit in the Merrimack river. if you get up near the old train bridge towards Bedford theres some good shore fishing area. Fish the areas where the water is not flowing so fast, the outer areas , also behind Margaritas, fish right into the water discharge area and towards the building. I do not go to these areas alone this time of year and i wear my good life jacket this time of year. . always bring a friend. Too easy to slip and never be found, In the warmer times i do go alone and lots of times i wear my basic life jacket when i fish there alone and i am at the rocks on the edge. If you get stuck in those currents they will pull you right under. If you follow further there are spots to fish where you are standing on solid shore and these places i dont use the jacket. I fish a bunch there in my waders also, and always wear the life jacket. Although good neoprene waders will keep you afloat for the most part. its the freezing water that kills you right now. also in the Nashua area, behind bridge street buildings (behind M AND M SPORTS) where the Nashua meets the Merr, completely open , Fish that complete area closer to where they come together. fish all those rocks. Across the to the other bank is better but i do not know anyone in any of those houses. I fish this a lot in my kayak , its a steep hill , easy going down but a little work getting back up. I made myself a shoulder strap for my kayak just for this place. I also used a long rope and a pulley tied to a tree to pull my canoe back up , now that i have the kayak i dont do that anymore. Its all depends on how much you want to fish. I do not consider it work , i enjoy it. if you find it too much of a hassle to do stuff like this there is nothing wrong with that, many of my buddies and my wife think i am nuts.
  9. Gotta pay attention to the rocks and areas, also depends on the size of the boat. my 12 ft jon boat with small gas motor and troller motor or my canoe with troller work great. the fish are in the rocky areas. (structure) If i had only a big bass boat not sure i would be taking it into these rocky areas. my 12 foot jon boat is for sale. $400 with trolling motor. also comes with basic depth finder / temp.
  10. The river can flow fast, So just pay attention. Wear your life jacket and make sure people know you are hitting the river. Maybe go with a buddy if you not 100% comfortable. always better safe than sorry. Remember if you go up river to start the flow will bring you back naturally even if your motor dies, if you go downstream first then you have to fight current to get back to the launch. Its no different than a lake except for current, and wind.
  11. There ya go much faster typer than me.
  12. There are lots of smallies in the river, and some LM too. There is a nice launch at the NHTI fields in Concord. , also a very muddy and shallow one at the everett arena (small boats) , sewels bridge area in concord , also near the ball park in manchester. , exit 17 up past concord is nice also. I too am looking for places to easily get my canoe or jonboat in the water in the manchester area.
  13. The Merrimack river is wide open down here , up in Concord its still very hard. Manchester is 1/2 and 1/2. Even the main part of the Nashua is frozen solid, However the lower part of the Nashua river is ready. My canoe is going in it Sat and/or Sunday depending on the temps. / weather. From Behind the Nashua mall / Home depot (exit 6 ) all the way to where it connects to the Merrimack river will be completely open by then. It is mostly open now. I just did not have the time to get there yesterday or Sat. Where it flows under Clocktower place the water is about 10 degrees warmer. This will be my first stop. It has been open all winter at this discharge however there is no way to get at it safely to fish it until you can get a boat to it.
  14. around here (Nashua NH) only the Merrimack river is open. Nashua river is solid. Water is moving fast,
  15. enjoy , go get some big girls. Then come back and find that NH 10-8 +, you know where she is.
  16. The Nashua river has some really really nice fish , They can be tough to find. The river actually gets some decent pressure but so many fish the same areas because they look so good from top view. Gotta find the underwater hiding areas. Lots of submerged logs and trees that you cannot see. Many of them are not at the bank or shore, although several i have found are. I have fished very little area of the river because it is so big. but start from the broad st ramp go straight out and then go right. lots of stuff between those islands and the shore. I have not fished the Hollis area much as it takes me close to 1/2 hour to get there with my little jon boat or canoe and trolling motor. Gotta find the underwater structure holding the fish. then you gotta find what they want to eat. I use a lot of white stuff in the river. white seems to work well for me. I also use a lot of weightless rage tail craw and bounce them around. Dont forget the Merrimack river too, the bridge areas especially. the merrimack river current runs hard though and is tough sometimes to fish. also the rocky areas in the merrimack getting up towards merrimack/bedford. those rocky areas are loaded with smallies. watch your motors on the rocks and use cheap anchors unless you feel like losing them or swimming underwater to get them. I think i have lost 5 anchors. keep a look for some big enough rocks that you can tie to and use for anchors or rest your boat against. i pretty much use 2 anchors front/rear in the Merrimack. I cannot wait for the Rivers to open back up. and for some sun. If you read a lot of Shanes and Maines posts these guys know their stuff. As do many of these other guys in these threads. Check out the old i think there are 3 old threads labeled similiar to this one but older years. info galore. lost of what i have learned comes from these guys or their info and that gets me looking into and reading / youtubing for more insight. My rule # 1 comes from Shane. Structure , Oxygen , Bait Fish, find all 3 and you can usually find something bigger eating the bait fish.
  17. Look into donating the old stuff that still works. I donate stuff every year to our local Boys/Girls club. hooks, weights, cranks etc. as well as used working rods filled with basic line. Last year at Sandy pond here in Nashua a boy and his sister were learning to fish with a volunteer , using the poles i dontated last year. cheap hooks , cheap weights a few bobbers i picked up before i brought them over. The kids caught 25+ little sunfish, but boy were they happy. They have no idea who i was nor who donated the stuff, its just a good feeling to see it get used. I am not so sure i would be donating baitcasters as they would probably have too much trouble using them. Maybe we need to have a thread here for guys giving away stuff ?
  18. That is awesome, Make sure you put a little research into it, Doing it correctly is important to get good quality and size fish, (look at Lake Naticook as a good example) (great numbers but 2ish lbs max) and make sure you do it legally. I remember someone in Raymond ? Chester ? possibly Londonderry many years ago (25 yrs) getting arrested for putting fish in his pond. I think he lost his license to fish and hunt for 5 years and had to pay some big fine. Very illegal to transport live fish.
  19. Merrimack River for me, Where it meets the Nashua River. and then the Nashua river when it opens up. Most of my fishing is down in the Nashua area, except on Wed when i am up in the Concord area. My list of places is mostly is mostly here in the south end of the state. Although i plan on hitting Bow Lake as much as i can this year. The few times i made it there last year were great. Going to hit Mill Pond early season , as well as Baboosic Lake , Also a day trip to the CT River, I want a big Pike , the bigger the better. I made it there once last year but between the wind and waves i did not have any luck with much. This year for sure.
  20. as an owner of a small business myself. I will continue to use NBS and Granite State (in Nashua) and Wildlife in Manchester as much as i can.
  21. wow , what an awesome day to fish last Sunday. anyone else get out there?
