  1. One Theory: The three colors used - bright green, yellow and orange can be seen in deep water, off-colored water or low light conditions where there is diminished light penetration, these colors will be seen better. And yes, pan fish and perch colors. Who the H311 knows what it's supposed to look like or how it is seen under water, fish it, catch some fish on it, gain some confidence in that color, order a couple/three hundred more of them and keep the darn bait monkey off your back!
  2. Last June my family and I went to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and they had a room playing that skit. Not only did it bring back memories for me, watching Abbott and Costello with my dad, but now my 10 y/o son is a big fan. That was great Sam!
  3. There's an idea. Many years ago when I first started fishing I tried braid and had the worst fishing experience imaginable and it took a long time for me to go back to it. Granted, there have been some remarkable avances in braid technology, but to me it's like a food item you puked on, you don't go back for a long long time... So I just want to try something different.
  4. The bait looks like a smaller version of the Red Eye Shad, IMO, so you may be right on the money about the hooks tangling. If anything, it doesn't attract weeds on the belly hook as much. The River2Sea Crawler you have, #10 Daiichi? Death Traps? That is small, but those hooks are real sticky. I've been using the Death Traps on a Janns Netcraft Lipless. Been my best bait so far this season. Bear in mind my season started a couple of weeks ago.
  5. I've been using TUF-LINE SuperCast for most of my fishing and I really like it, but I want to try another brand, what are you folks using?
  6. Yep, I'm with "call the pro's". As my uncle used to say: "Of you want a loaf of bread, go to the bakery.:
  7. I think your post should be inserted in the tutorial or FAQ's...LOL...great job!
  8. Any way of moving around the pond on foot or are you dock bound?
  9. Dick's Sports had a buy 1 get 1 clearance, so I picked up a couple of these. They are the RPR06 - 1/2 once. I haven't tried one yet, but my first impression is that the hooks look really small - #6 belly, #8 tail. Usually on 1/2 oz vibrating lures you see a #4 belly, #6 tail. Do any of you folks who fish these change out the hooks to larger size ones?
  10. You know, you're right, I should rig up a fluke jr.! When I was posting about soft plastics, I was referring to dragging bottom, but if I'm getting nailed on a horizontal/reaction presentation, why waste time and force a bite?
  11. I can't get out at night, my work day starts at 3:00 AM, so during the day I key on deep water structure and if I get into shallow water I look for shaded areas. If I do catch fish in shallow, I find that they are near a breakline to deeper water.
  12. Hit the water again after work this afternoon around 1:30 pm and still can't get a bite on soft plastics for whatever reason, so back to the trusty crank. I wasn't getting much on a rippin or a stop and go retrieve, but I remembered this technique I read about call "sliding". Basically it's a variation of a stop and go, after the stop, lightly raise your rod tip from 8:00 to 10:00 o'clock without having the lure virbrate - the slide - reel back down to 8:00 o'clock maintaining contact with the lure and start vibrating the lure again. The bass today were hitting on the slide and I ended up with 4 for the 1.5 - 2 hours I fished. Great technique that I totally forgot about until today, give it a try.
  13. Striper and Blues in the bay Kennebunkport, ME using a Tube, Jig or Trap type lure or at night when I'm fishing with my neighbor, we'll use clams or sea worms. Bluegill on a 5 wgt fly rod Trout on light spinners or mini traps Pickerel on spinners
  14. My guess is that the Sox will make a last ditch effort in retaining Lester, and will trade away Koji, Andrew Miller, Johnny Gomes and Mike Carp - who wants to be traded anyway. There are reports that the Sox are in the Kemp talks, so who knows, maybe Lester is part of that deal. I know they need to get something for him now if they can't come to terms later, but I find it hard to believe that you would not make a concerted effort in retaining quality pitching. Especially for a guy who can play in Boston and has also come through the system.
  15. NICE!...I think. Did you ever get off the nails (smokes)? I knew you were trying, I can only imagine it helping you now that you back in the training circuit.
  16. Lester is saying the right things, but he's p1$$ed off, he won't come back. I hope he does go to a real contender, he's money in the playoffs!
  17. You'll be getting on em soon enough, and I hear ya about needing a boat, but I'm pushing for a Kayak. One's better than none, keep chunking! I got 4, but nothing of size. The slow presentation has not produced, all my bass have been on reaction/moving baits. Funny you should mention Blue Hills, I was gonna stop by there of Friday on my way back from Quincy, but couldn't find a place to park. I think my next stop is Buckmaster's in Westwood, I usually can do well during the summer months there.
  18. When the dog days of summer hit and the bass bite is tough, I would tie up some Royal Wulffs and take my 5 weight fly rod and would have a blast catching em.
  19. There ya go SirSnook, a great memory...Happy Birthday my friend!
  20. Way to go Bud, keep up the good work! Man, September is coming quick!
  21. Nice to see you're still getting some quality fish BR1AN!
  22. This homemade job:
  23. I remember when and I'm not sure if this applies to your part of the country, but here in MA you were required to have your fishing license laminated and safety pinned to your shirt or more than likely, hat while fishing.
  24. I'm winding a project down in Boston, I may have the sniffles coming on and will have to shut my cell phone off in order to get the proper rest.
