  1. Really? I never would have thought that?
  2. Yep, Lipless Crank. Not only versatile, but also a great multi species lure. I'm up to 12 different species of fish caught on a lipless crank. Includes saltwater, so a good crossover bait. I'm still learning how to fish a spoon and I'm finding that they share the same characteristics of a lipless crank.
  3. That's a Little Cleo pulling a Zoom Mini Tube. The hook is a Mustad Live Bait single hook. I know what you mean about Houghtons, it can be a head scratcher pond to fish. I've found that moving baits have been better producers than their dragging counterparts. The second weed line is a good cast away where cooler waters are. I get most of mine there.
  4. Thanks a million guys!
  5. I was able to make my second trip fishing today, wound up at Houghton's Pond on my way home from work. I got on the board for 2015. Not big, but a good way to break the ice.
  6. Ironic in that same survey they mention how Togue compromises the growth rates of Salmon. The last stocking was in the 70's. They have derby's to thin out them - Togue - as well. Sounds to me like they're trying to manage the fishery more than anything. I'm not reading in to this anymore, sounds like a controlled harvest at best.
  7. I say it looks different because the 3 I caught previous had a more pronounced "Rainbow Trout" lateral line...you maybe right tho
  8. The fishery supports Landlocked Salmon, Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout, I ruled out Brook and Brown Trout, and it just looks different to be a Rainbow. You're thoughts?
  9. Sounds like the Coalition is trying to restore Moosehead Lake to what it once was: http://mooseheadlakecoalition.org/moosehead-lake-focus-group/ I didn't do a lot of research, but it appears to the eye that Smallies & Perch were introduced to the waters by fishermen at some point. Again, purely subjective on my part. I can't imagine the Derby doing well, not a lot of trout anglers fish for bass and bass fishermen more than likely wouldn't participate. I could be wrong there as well...LOL!
  10. I ended up fishing with my 10 y/o son. We spent about an hour and a half and didn't catch anything. We left when he wanted to leave which is fine with me. Always a good time when I can spend time with him. I'll try again some other time.
  11. Little League is over finally, we lost in the playoffs. We started the last week in March and it's now June 7th. I finally got my fishing license today, cleaned my reels and hope to hit Buckmaster's Pond later this afternoon. I have no idea what stage the bass are in nor do I care at this point. All I care about is making some casts and hopefully, catch some fish. Wish me luck! Hope you all are enjoying the fishing season so far.
  12. A few I've made a few years ago that are still in my tackle box and get used. The pics do not have a minnow trailer, but I do use them. Easy to make and fairly cheap.
  13. My sister had a bout with breast cancer and is now cancer free. My cousin is now having his own battle with liver cancer. I hope all who attend the event contribute to help fund the fight. Good luck to your friend! John
  14. Inline Spinner - You can make them any size to suit your needs Lipless Crank - I'm up to a dozen different species including saltwater Little Cleo type spoon - just really learned to fish these last fall and have caught at least 4 different species so far
  15. Wow, that sux! That res is so convenient to hit on the way home. Guess it'll be Houghton's, Buckmaster's or somewhere in Easton.
  16. Looks like I'll be catching a break from Little League season and will be heading up. I doubt I'll have the yak with me though, I have to load my truck up with tools and material for a small job, but I think I'll give this lake a whirl from shore. Thanks a million Mainely.
  17. Crystal Lake in the Nonantum section, if I'm thinking correctly?
  18. Thanks a million guys, I'll check those places out. John
  19. I'll be spending time up in the Southeast Region this summer, is there any good freshwater spots from say Biddeford/Saco down to say York out and west towards Sanford? I'll be yak'n. Thanks John
  20. I was waiting for that 3" Sluggo post to come out!...Great job grampa!
  21. I'm still stuck in Little League season, so I haven't been on here much nor have I fished at all this season, but if what I'm reading is true, I'm real surprised at the water temps? I figured they would have been a little warmer by now?
  22. Water level is low...Hokie Smokes! I haven't fished yet or even have a license yet for that matter. I'm coaching my son's Little League team which started March 31st and we're having our first game tomorrow. 3-4 days a week until about the second week in June. I'll be looking at this thread for advice because I'll never have time to get out prior to that. Keep the reports coming and I hope you all have a great spring season.
  23. Haven't been by there, but as far as I can see, if Houghton's is open, that will be. grampa and I fished that and I can't imagine that being iced out and not Houghton's? MHO anyway. I'd say go for it and good luck?
