  1. I wish you were here fishing and not down there and watching...LOL...thanks a million grampa. I have a preconstruction meeting tomorrow and I'll take up the advice and go exploring after the meeting. Thanks a million for the suggestions folks!
  2. I'll be starting a project in Westboro, anyone have any watering holes they like in the area?
  3. I finally went fishing this year and went old school - weightless slug-gos. I was able to go out for 2 hours this afternoon after work before the humidity got to me. I managed 1 dink on an Arkansas shiner 'go and a 1.5 lber on a rainbow 'go. Wished I could have stay longer, but my body had had enough of this heat for 1 week. Tomorrow I'm up in Kennebunkport ME chasing stripers. Good luck and stay safe
  4. Hey Broke bass, up here is really no different than what you're probably used to fishing with. We've been experiencing some really hot weather and the fish will be deep and in their dog days of summer mode. Think deeper water, obviously near structure or cover and fish your favorite finesse baits. Fishing later in the evening would probably be a better option this time of year as it is with most of the country. I would start slow and if all else fails, speed it up with some horizontal presentations. I find that the bass up here are about the same as the rest of the country and don't read the same books and view the same youtube vids we do...LOL I grew up in the next town over and my parents still live in the same house so it would be a good op to meet up one day if you're interested and I can go visit them after. Good luck and stay safe.
  5. Sorry to hear that DogBone, I've never lost a rig in the water, but I snapped my fair share of rigs, 2 of which I built. It's an empty feeling for sure. Hope you find it.
  6. Watched some of the HOF induction ceremony last night and kept thinking how much I would have loved to have been there. I went to Cooperstown once at the request of my then 8 year old little leaguer. I could spend days in that museum. Any of you baseball fans ever visit Cooperstown?
  7. Man, One year I hooked into one accidently in it's leg. I didn't know what I hooked into, it kept swimming down. I can't tell you what was going thru my head other than "FISH OF A LIFETIME!" After what seemed like a fish fight for the ages, my heart is pumping, my mind is racing and I finally see something coming to the surface. I'm like: "A fricken garbage can top?!?! I 'm fighting a fricken garbage can top?!?!" I reel in until the garbage can top is about 6 feet away and I see my hook attached to the leg. The head came out of the water and this garbage can top is p!$$ed!. Now my heart starts pumping harder and mind starts racing for a different reason. I dig in my pocket to get a pocket knife to cut the line and for some reason, the jig dislodged from it leg. That thing swam away and sat down on a stump saying over and over, "there's no way something that big lives in this little pond."
  8. Nice job, sounds like you had a couple of good outings. Good job, man. I used the cxx and loved the strength it had, very surprised with that line. If I use a hybrid, I still like the C21 tho. I will admit that I switched to Power Pro Braid a couple of years ago and use it for most applications. Love it.
  9. Still, that myst have been quite a fish you had on! Those smallies will get tour heart pumping for sure! Good luck Bud!
  10. Must have been a powerful fish to straighten out a hook on a Whopper Plopper, considering the lure was designed to catch musky?!?!
  11. You know, I forgot about the Tigers in this conversation? I know they're in it, but are they really in it?
  12. All of the above night time advice are great suggestions and should be part of your night arsenal. One of Mr. Bass' favorite night time snacks like to come out to play as well. May I suggest a jig and craw? Dark colored to silhouette against the moon's light. Good luck. BTW: Going old school as one Mr. Trubiano AKA grampa1114 suggested is a lot of fun!
  13. The smallies do like to follow which usually means you have the right type of lure on. Sometimes it's matter of speeding up or slowing down, a pop of the rod or a kill on the retrieve or maybe it's a matter of a color change. Unfortunately, you were handcuffed with the color. Don't let the lack of cloud cover deter you from a spinnerbait, when the wind picks up it's usually enough to disturb the water surface to make a spinnerbait that much more effective. A lipless crank in that situation would be a good choice as well. I know you know all this, but sometimes you get yourself on the water and you blank out. I find that just by talking about a subject you know about, keeps the mind sharp for when you get into a similar situation. Keep up the good work, love seeing the great posts you and everyone here puts up. John AKA JF10
  14. The trade deadline is coming up, who are the buyers and who are the sellers? These teams can go either way, what do these teams do? American League: Yankees, Astros, Tigers, White Sox, Royals, Mariners National League: Marlins, Mets, Cardinals, Pirates, Dodgers
  15. Nice job bud! I wonder what would of happened if you abandoned the drop shot when the winds picked up and you introduced them to a spinnerbait...white on white...HMMM....Just a thought bud...LOL 10 fish is nothing to sneeze at, you should be happy...Nice hat BTW...LOL...I love it!
  16. I would love to fish Santee Cooper, sounds like your next move is going to be a good one! Good luck!
  17. 18 innings between the Pirates and Nats? That's crazy!?!?!
  18. Good job buddy You're missed up here Mike...I hope all is well with you and your wife
  19. Little League season will finally be over in 1 week. Hoping to hit the water for the first time starting Monday the 25th. Thinking about going old school with Slug-Gos, Traps and Jerkbaits. Doesn't that look scrumptious!
  20. You're not kidding...1 HR just shy of 500 feet!
  21. I can honestly say that I do not watch the home run derby or the ASG very often, if ever, since probably back in 99 when they had all the greats show up at Fenway. Last night I watched the derby and I'm still in awe at what Giancarlo Stanton did. I mean he went bridge 61 times! That's incredible! I will be taking in tonight's ASG, I hope it's going to be a good one.
  22. I'm glad they didn't give-up on Bradley, I just wish they get a left fielder and another starting pitcher for the play-off run
  23. A lot of really young stars this year in this year's All Star game...Cubs and Sox are well represented...I would love to see this game played competitively like it was back in the day. Hopefully the young talent that's in this year will provide the competitive nature to the game.
