  1. Welcome aboard, Tar Heels fan
  2. Fly fishing?! Who does that anymore ?
  3. Never broken a reel like that, but it musta been a fun battle to bring that nice froggie bass in.
  4. Just pay them respects, use your rod to nudge them in a different direction if they're getting too close, and call it a rare sighting I've had to nudge water moccasins out of my way, as they're probably our most belligerent, aggressive snake. Most others including rattlers, are not as aggressive...believe it or not.
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. I've been a fan of Floroclear, but it is certainly a love it/hate it line here on the forums. I haven't tried CX or CXX but both have fans here. I would throw in Yo Zuri Hybrid if you haven't tried it yet. It is nylon bonded, not coated, with fluorocarbon. YZH and Floroclear are lines I use on spinning and casting, but only as leader material tied to braided mainline. I have used both in the past spooled entirely (no braid), but didn't like the line management at all. So braid is something else to consider unless you're not wanting to have a leader knot. As for Floroclear vs CX, I believe the difference is more fluorocarbon coating on the former. P-Line used to have an explainer on their site regarding those two lines.
  7. Awesome! Congrats to the laddie!
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. Welcome aboard!
  10. Welcome aboard, Mike!
  11. IMHO, that's an expensive proposition. I think you can get away with something like Yo-Zuri HyBrid in 6 or 8# and forget it. Great line for all-purpose fishing. I use it often as leader.
  12. We "cut the cord" last year, but Cox offered to give us basic cable channels (including Animal Planet) for less than the cost of our Internet package alone!! So we said sure. This year, we upped the Internet to 100MBits for another $5 a month (4 boys, games, Netflix streaming, CBS All Access, me working from home). Same TV package. I sure miss watching my sports including MLF, though. I should check out Kodi. Edit: I use Plex right now, to stream movies to our FireStick, given our Apple TV is aging and despite being an Apple guy, I don't want to pay the premium for current models...c'est la vie.
  13. Welcome aboard, Andrew!
  14. Welcome aboard, Jon! Bills fan, by chance? Followed them since I was a wee lad.
  15. @Logan S, that's a beast! This topic is interesting to me, but not living in an area of "infestation", it's not a "major" concern.
  16. While this may not help, when I moved my foot pedal tracks in my Native ultimate I was left with holes from the screw holes to fill. I had some JB Weld putty on hand that when hand-mixed turns into something as hard as a rock. I applied it to the holes, let it cure, sanded and that's it. Not a drop of water comes through. Been using it for about 2 years since. Granted, they're mostly out of the water. I'd use suggestions above if on the bottom, most likely.
  17. Just rec'd this in my inbox from the VGDIF. https://blog.wildlife.virginia.gov/2017/05/snakes-in-the-grass/ Quite interesting, this quote: We don't have these down here in the Tidewater area, and am curious my NOVA and MD brethren's thoughts on the report. Of course further in the article damage snakeheads do in smaller bodies is yet to be determined.
  18. Congrats!! Healthy chunk and great PB!
  19. Nice, indeed. But as a life-long Bills fan, there remains a feeling of trepidation, yet excitement, yet fear, yet "this is the year" type of rollercoaster, I do like what I see. McDermott, to me, is what we need. And I do admit, I'll be holding my breath for playoffs this year. Sammy must stay healthy (and perform). Despite tough schedule, esp at end of the season with 2 Patritots, 2 Fins games, we have some great pieces in place, great coaching staff.
  20. I'm just happy they won and didn't get swept! Make believe was thinking they'd even win one!!
  21. Well well well...Boston anyone?
  22. Excellent catches, congrats on the PB!
