  1. I know this is straying off topic but all this talk about crapping in the woods reminded me of a funny story of when a big group of us went snowmobiling up north and one of the old timers had to stop and do a #2 on the trail, he didn't notice anything wrong until he put his suit back on and noticed something warm in his sleeve.
  2. I switched to all braid years ago and have never regretted it.
  3. I have 3 of the 180xl spinning reels and i have been thinking of upgrading and ordering 3 of the 180 sx reels.I have been using my 180 reels for 5-6 years now and I haven't had to do a thing to them besides lube them once in awhile. After seeing your post I am wondering if I should go with the 230sx reels.I would think the 230sx reels would cast a little further because the line would come off in bigger loops but I may be wrong. I fish mainly gin clear strip mine pits and I like to cast as far as possible to keep from spooking the bass.
  4. I think the language he used during the alligator encounter was justified I wonder if he had to wash out the inside of his kayak when he got back home
  5. No more cold water kayak fishing questions,I am looking like a weenie here compared to you :cry4:I saw your post about flipping your kayak over while you were out fishing, what do you have a sit in or sit on top? were you in deep water? was it difficult for you to upright the kayak with the trolling motor and battery on it by yourself? You're a tough angler!
  6. I have 3 of the 180 x ultra lite reels and i would think the 230x reels would cast farther because of the bigger spools. What's your opinion Bill ?
  7. How late into the year do you mainers fish? When do you put your kayak away? What's the coldest you will go out in your kayak? If the temps aren't above 40 out i leave my kayak at home and shore fish. Nice fish Laurie,Way to go!
  8. I am glad to hear you got out and that you're on the road to recovery. God Bless you!
  9. Didn't this same rant pop up a day or so ago..lol
  10. We share the same weather my friend...lol.
  11. I am fortunate to live in an area that is surrounded by forest preserve lakes. I have some lakes that are minutes from my house so I try and get out before work to shore fish and then back out again in the evening with my kayak. Things have changed quite a bit with fall and winter coming and the declining sunrises and sunsets (bummer!) When I got back into bass fishing a few years ago I remember an old timer who was fishing told me "you don't want to go out more than a couple times a week or you will get sick of it" I wish I would run into him again because I would tell him it has the opposite effect on me, the more I fish, the more i want to fish.
  12. What kind of warranty does megabass have?
  13. I mainly eat "live" foods and stay away from any boxed or processed items that are loaded with additives and preservatives. I like to eat smaller portions 4-5 times a day and eat about every three hours to keep my metabolism running.I will either prepare my meals the night before or early in the morning before work and put them in ziploc containers and take them with me. As far as exercises i like to do basic compound exercises like squats, bench presses, power cleans a lot of chin ups and hill sprints but i will change up my routine often to keep it fresh.I am not into body building, but prefer to eat healthy and exercise to stay strong and be healthy as i get older.
  14. I bought the bps pro qualifier outfit a few years ago and it has worked well for me.

  19. a couple months ago i was heading home from fishing at one of the local forest preserve lakes near my house when i came upon a man in a manuel powered wheelchair coming down the road towards me, It was getting dark out and this particular stretch of road is about ten miles long with no street lights and nothing but woods so it was hard to see him.I passed him up and went on home but i kept thinking about his safety so When i got home a few minutes later i told my wife about him and i told her i have go back and offer him a ride because he was going to get killed on that dark stretch of road. I went back out and found him and i pulled over and offered him a ride ,he accepted so i picked him up and put him in the cab of my truck and put his wheel chair in the bed. He told me his name was mark and apologized to me for smelling bad (he did) he told me that for the last four or five days he had been sleeping in his wheelchair outside. He told me that he was from tennessee and was heading to Minnesota for a family reunion in his van when he stopped and parked at a suburban train station to go to downtown Chicago to sight see and while he was in the city his wallet was stolen, and to make matters worse he couldn't remember what suburban train station he left his van parked at four or five days ago. He told me he was 45 and that he became a paraplegic a few years ago when a bus hit him while he was riding his bicycle. We talked about a lot of subjects and things and i noticed at times he would stray off subject a bit ,he mentioned to me more than once his mind or memory was giving him problems. My main objective was to get him off the road and out of the woods so i dropped him off in town and wished him well. As i was driving home i kept replaying our conversations in my head and how his story seemed unbelievable, who can have such bad luck? I had intentions of giving the guy some money when i dropped him off but during all the unloading i forget about it until i got home. I was concerned for the guy, so the next day i called the police department in the town where i left him and i told the officer my story and described what he looked like and i asked if they had seen him,the officer asked me to come to the station and talk to them because this guys family had came in from Minnesota and filed a missing persons report on him when he never showed up at the family reunion a few days before. I went to the police station and i while i was waiting to talk to the officer he came out and said that mark was found a couple towns away and that he was ok. The officer told me his story was true and that he suffers from dementia and that his family described him as fiercely independent . He was a unique guy.
