  1. My thought is: if color A is effective, why throw anything else? The fish speak to you, if you choose to listen.
  2. Looking for opinions. I know it's a flutter spoon Rod, but I want to know what else it excels at. Can I throw swimjigs? Chatterbaits? Texas Rigs? Football Jigs? Im specifically looking for reviews from people that have fished with it. Thanks!
  3. I'd spend that money in good line. Hi/Seas? Check around at all your local Dick's Sporting Goods. They are the kings of mismarking prices. I one time found a 7' MH Veritas for $30, and a 7' M for only $17! If you don't need the Rod now, that's what I would do. PS: I took both those rods to my local bass club and sold them for $60 each! America!
  4. On the second or third day, start looking super-shallow. Less than 1 foot. They get up there early on sunny days.
  5. This is almost my exact set-up with my Garmin 73sv. Great mounting option for us "tin users".
  6. All the TW reviews are good, but I just want to hear from others. Ranger Boats come with this as standard equipmemt.
  7. Does anyone have this on their boat? How has it performed? Any issues with it?
  8. I just bought the hull of an '89 Tracker 1800TF that I'm going to set up for electric only lakes. It has no outboard or trolling motor. I was wondering if I could put a 101+ lb trolling motor on it, or if that would be overkill. It's an 18' hull and weighs around 1,000lbs as is. Most fully rigged boats that big have 70-80lb 24v systems. That's always an option. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Got a few bass on a frog in 50* water, was catching them on a prop this weekend with 55* water. 50 is my benchmark.
  10. I'd much rather have a single open hook than an EWG Texas rigged. Better hook sets and the chatterbaits I have now are already pretty weedless.
  11. Not worth the drive. Go to Candlewood in CT.
  12. I have an older black and white Lowrance x37tx for sale. $45 shipped.
  13. Hey all! I'm buying the hull of an '89 1800TF next week. It's a steal of a deal and I'll be restoring it to its former glory. It doesn't have any motors on it, so I'm going to prioritize getting a trolling motor installed, batteries wired and bilge pumps working. Just wanted to know who I can rely on for advice and experience if I have questions, which I will. Thanks! Also looking for info on Rod storage length? Live well capacity? Fuel capacity?
  14. I had a Humminbird 798 HD with sidescan last year and sold it for a Garmin 73sv. I had it out on my shallow lunker factory last weekend and was much more impressed with the Garmin. The deepest water in the lake is 6', and 4.5' is the average. I could see individual clumps of grass and weed lines, it was wonderful. I didn't try 2D or DV yet; waiting to get on some deeper water for that.
  15. It's nothing a little sharpening can't fix. Are they strong?
  16. Rod storage length? Live well capacity? Fuel capacity?
  17. I was fishing in a private lake in the Poconos yesterday. The water was 51*F, and occasionally you'd see a bass crush bluegill shallow. We were doing pretty good on swimjigs, then we pulled out the frogs and crushed them. Fifty-one degree water and they were eating topwater. I learned something that day...
  18. I used to throw a swimjig on a Powell 706 CB: 7' Heavy cranking Rod with 40lb braid. I'd throw all three on the MH.
  19. Do they still make it? If not, when did they stop?
  20. Looks nice. I've been eyeing up an Xpress x19 or H18.
  21. I like the 3.8" in any color. My set-up is: 7'1" MH Duckett White Ice Ardent Apex Elite 6.5:1 (LH) 12lb Hi Seas Fluorocarbon Coated 1/8-1/4oz Oldham's Screw Lock Jighead I fish a lot of shallower lakes, so the ligh weight helps keep the bait off the bottom, even when slow rolled. I will usually catch numbers over size, but it's fun all the same.
  22. I live in Telford. I pond hop locally, but I spend most of my weekends two hours north in the Poconos. There is some stupid-good fishing up there.
  23. They're most popular on herring lakes, which we don't really have up here. But I curious who you all prefer. Let everyone know!
  24. Has anyone ever used both? Any differences in performance?
  25. The whole banana in the boat thing makes me laugh. I don't allow fruit to dictate my fishing success.
