  1. If only my Jerry Garcia Birkenstocks were signed. LOL
  2. The star drag nut isn't there to remove whatever play is in your drive shaft. The star drag nut's purpose is to to give you more or less drag pressure because it turns along with your star drag when you want to increase or decrease drag pressure and there is no specific torque rating for it as it is not a stationary nut.
  3. If they weren't, I would return it.
  4. Yes, a little bit of misinformation but I like it in that he he just another person taking the time to put together videos for us to watch on YouTube.
  5. This guy pronounces Daiwa Tatula way different than I do. I say it like spatula. He says Tatoola.
  6. 8 year old boys are generally happy with their first rifle and I don't know too many 8 year old boys that have a personal preference when it comes to 22 rifles. Wrong brand or not, it's still his first rifle and he will appreciate it unless he is a total ingrate. Btw, I have no idea what kind of problems that Remington is having nowadays but I would not hesitate to buy a 30 year old Remington for my son to get him what I, his father, thinks is the right rifle. Geeeez
  7. No longer owned by ESPN means that I may become a member.
  8. I always wanted to join BASS but I never got around to it and now that BASS is owned by ESPN, I definitely will never join.
  9. Both FC and mono have better slack line sensitivity than braid which has none.
  10. I just looked at the Schematics of both reels and the 1500 doesn't come with an anti reverse pawl. The XT1000 doesn't either so it's not a problem.
  11. What kind of reel is it? Has your line dug into itself preventing from falling?
  12. Pretend that you are buying for your son and you are buying him his first .22. Naturally, you would start him off right and you would buy him a Remington. Same with his first baitcaster. Start him off right and get the best and the best is of course, Shimano.
  13. Replace the gears. I just replaced the gear set in one of my Conquest 50's because of a very loud noise on the retrieve and it solved my problem. Keep in mind that this reel was not even used much compared to the use that most people use their's but this particular CQ50 had a damaged pinion gear that was causing me problems. I sent it to a 'pro reel tech' to have it checked out and cleaned and he sent it back still messed up. With some help from Maico1, we diagnosed the problem as being a damaged pinion gear. I ordered a new gear set from Plat and installed them and problem fixed. Also, I am getting the impression that Shimano is not putting enough grease on their gears because I recently partially disassembled a barely used Aldebaran Mg7 and its gears looked dry.
  14. It was that day. I using a Conquest 50 and a Loomis MBR782GLX for Bass and was having no luck and a buddy showed up and he was fishing for Panfish so I changed hooks, added a cork and a bread ball. It sure beat getting skunked. LOL
  15. I was gonna say 7# Sniper but he said no FC. Sniper is so good and reasonably priced that it's worth trying IMHO.
  16. Thank you Mike. I have the Conquest 50 gear sets on the way from Plat and when I put the new gears in, I am putting a Conquest 50 on this rod. It's either going to be a Conquest 50 with an Avail spool or I am going to get an Aldebaran BFS XG Limited. First victim

  18. I like my Curado I better any of the previous Curado's or 200 size Scorpions that I have owned and the quality seems just fine too me. The new Scorpion is also made in Malaysia.
  19. I paid $260 and Plat has it for $250. I can't imagine that Plat would do the crappy packaging job that Shimreels did. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for shipping just to know that my rod was packaged well. I did not shop around when I bought this but I will next time. I want the 6'5" model now and Plat has that one to. I can't find a flaw in this rod and I also don't know how Major Craft is building this nice of a rod at this price. I did not get a chance to use it today because of all the rainstorms that we have had so the only use it has had is throwing the Bitsy Minnow in my pool. With my Aldebaran Mg7 mounted on it, the balance point is well behind the locking nut.
  20. Fish for Golden Shiners in the same local that you would fish for panfish. I was fishing for panfish when I caught this one. I think that I was using a size 7 or 8 hook and I was using bread balls.

  22. The handle is a complete ZPI Platinum Handle with ZPI carbon knobs. I bought it from Japan Tackle last Christmas by mistake. I thought that I was buying a handle without knobs and I got this instead. I have tried to put Shimano knobs on it but I can't get them to spin correctly. I like these knobs after using them for a while but if I can, I will be replacing them with the aluminum ZPI BFS knobs that The Hooligan uses. Great minds think alike because I ordered a red Avail spool from Japan Tackle last week and it might be here tomorrow. I'll post a side pic of the handle tomorrow when I get home from work.
  23. Thanks everybody! Your dang right it's worth it. I have read all the comments about Major Craft rods and they are all true. The attention to detail is excellent and these rods are a steal at their asking price. My only gripe is the packaging. I can deal with the wait but the packaging sucked.
