  1. I would take the Chronarch CI4+ because it just a better reel and it's a Made in Japan Shimano. If you want a killer price on a NIB Chronarch CI4+ 150HG, I have one for sale. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  2. I bought this UL combo of course for bass but also for panfish. It will throw panfish size jigs, hardbaits and 2" swimbaits without a fuss.
  3. I agree it can be pricey but I can't spend my money when I am dead so I might as well spend it on something that I enjoy. If I wanted to get under a dock, I would skip but that would require that I practice skipping and it has not been a casting technique that I have not put much time into.
  4. No dock shooting with this but you already knew that.
  5. Major Craft MSX Limited 6'5" UL BFS and a Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG Limited with 5# Sniper. Casting gear is soooooo much cooler than spinning gear.
  6. Don't feel bad about not knowing all the measurements. I knew the basics like 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc but I had to ask my son about 64ths, 32nds and 16ths.
  7. Looking forward to a full report Mike.
  8. Tatsu is to expensive for me. I recently spooled up some 18# Sniper, my heaviest # test so far, and I have no problems casting with a 1/4 or 3/8oz bullet weight so I see no reason to use anything but Sniper.
  9. I just sold a Cosugi Works Spool and it just got resold. Ha ha. If you go the Shimano route and decide on the 32mm Yumeya BFS Spool, you need to know that there are 2 versions of that spool. A magnesium and an aluminum version. I just sold my last magnesium version and I have an aluminum version left. It is not quite as light as the magnesium version but it holds considerably less line which somewhat makes up the difference. If you are interested, the price is $75 shipped. I also have an Avail Ald0915 Microcast Spool that I would let go for $75 shipped.
  10. Check out the Shimano Poison Ultima or the Gamakatsu Luxxe Oltre.
  11. Try selling that custom rod for anything close to what you paid for it. No thanks! I'll buy my cookie cutter JDM rods and be happy with my choice.
  12. I was always brand loyal to Shimano until recently when I got a Megabass Zonda 68 and a couple of Daiwa Pixys. A PX68 Type-R and a JDM PX68R. The Megabass and the PX68R have been sold and the Type R is for sale. Daiwa is the only other brand that I would have ever considered and I found out that I do like Shimano more and there is no other reason to stray.
  13. Ian's email is reel_tuner@yahoo.com
  14. What do you want to do with this BFS rod?
  15. If the Twin Power does not a USDM cousin, you can contact Jun or Kayo Sonada at Japan Tackle and they will order the parts for you from Shimano Japan. I have personally used JT but I have also used Plat. If Plat has the schematic for your reel on their website, you can order directly from them.
  16. I ordered the HG a few days ago from JLS. Hopefully it gets here tomorrow but I am thinking Monday. I sure hope someone makes a BFS Spool for it. Smaller than the Curado 200I? It must palm great.
  17. You can find great deals on used in excellent condition GLX's. Are we talking about the newer green GLX's or the MBR's? The MBR's in general are extremely nice rods with actions that excel at many techniques than for what they were designed. One of my favorite all time rods is the Loomis MBR782GLX. I regret that I sold mine but I will get another someday. The rod that I posted a pic of us a $600 dollar rod. Add in shipping and customs fees and you are over $650. I'm at the point now where I want style as well as performance and I'm willing to pay for it.
  18. Shimano Poison Ultima 162L-S
  19. I already have it but not for the sake of owning it. I did not pay full price but I would. I might fight the purchase a little bit internally but I would have paid full price for a new one.
  20. Yes it does. Do you have one mind? If not, look on eBay for a used G-Loomis CR721IMX. That rod, combined with a baitcaster with a shallow spool makes for an extremely fun combo.
  21. X2. There have been some very lucky folks that have bought rods n reels from me because my gear is always in excellent condition and I always sell for a big loss.
  22. There was more but the wife and I have already ate some. My wife is going to visit our son at the University of Fl next week and she is giving the rest to him.
  23. The Japanese are some of the nicest people that I have dealt with and a little bit of a broken message doesn't bother me at all. The real shocker for me was that I recently received an order from Samurai Tackle and they packed up a bunch of candies from Japan to celebrate the new year.
  24. One of the best!
