I use a couple different styles.
The first is a bullet style I use
Now the second I fish in hydrilla and if you pop the jig it pulls through excellent! This is my Brush Big O Jig
Guys, I'm looking for some opinions on 1/8-5/32 weedgaurds. If you are looking for a jig in weights 5/8 and up which would you prefer and why?
Here is the reason for the question and my thoughts to it.
I have modified a Brush jig mold and a Football mold and bumped it up to a 5/32. In testing I have found this seems even more weedless in these heavier weights. No loss in hookups. If you were looking to buy a jig in these bigger sizes would you want the option of both sizes or just trim out some of the 5/32? There is approx 7 strands different. I believe trimming is the better way to go since its more multi-role.
Its the people imo. I've made some good friends from Bass Resource forum and fished with some great people.
There is a great knowledge base for all around Bass fishing.
20-24 gauge copper wire from Hobby Lobby. I dont use thread. Wrap the wire around twice and snug up with some needle nose pliers. It wont come off again.
Right now the Brush is 5/8, 3/4, and 1 oz.
I'm going to work on a 3/4, 1 and 1.5oz football mold next.
I will look at a 1/2 but it might not work. I'll have to see.
Here is a new edition to the Big O Jig. I have up-sized the weedgaurd from 1/8 to 5/32. Its stiffer, and stronger!
I am still using an Owner XXX hook and powder coat.
What do you guys think? I will be adding a HVT football jig head later.
