As most of you know nanofil has a great tendency to fray. My experience is that the first 5-10 ft especially needs to be checked frequently. I have lost two nice jigs on 3-4 pounders right at the boat. My fault, I should have been more dilligent with my inspection. What was tough was last time out I had a huge hit that took the tip of my rod into the water and snapped the nanofil. Another lost jig, but I sure would have like to have got a look at the hawg that did it. I will still continue to use nanofil in some application and hope I've learn my lesson to inspect and retie often. For those using this stuff do yourself a favor and inspect frequently and don't take a chance when you see a fray.

Somedays color has made all the difference. Generally darker colors work best for me.

Not so much a fishing knife, but I'm interested in opinions about quality american knifes. Buck, Shrade, Case, Gerber, were once good quality knife but now a lot of their products are china made with few exceptions. Are there other countries producing a high quality knife????

Find a brake cleaner with Trichloroethylene. It cleans very well, is non flammable, and leaves no residue. Not sold in all states

Trichloroethylene which is a chlorinated solvent. Non-flammable, Non-conductive,dries fast and leaves no residue. is an excellent solvent for reels. Some brake cleaners contain Tric but many do not, as chlorinated products are regulated in some states. (i.e Ca.) Some brake cleaner contain product I would not want to use on my reels or guns. Also be careful with any solvent around plastics.

Something happened to Cabelas some years ago. When I first started buying from Cabelas the customer service was second to none. I didn't mind paying a higher price sometimes because I knew that the item would be covered if I were not satisfied with it for any reason. But things have changed in the last few years. Their customer service now is about average, now I shop much more by price. I could bore you with specific example, but I won't. Sufficient to say Cabelas is now just an average joe.

Might want to try the new "spro baby frog popper" It's easy to walk-the-dog and we have been tearing it up with them.

Fat Ika is the best tip I've received from this forum. It has produced countless numbers of bass for me in the last few years. For me, I prefer a 4/0 ewg. The 5/0 seems to rip up the end of the ika faster. The green pumkin/ black flake works well for us in clearer water. Very hard to find in these parts. Most of the time we have to order them in.

The Darker colors seem to work best for me. "rainforest black" in perticular.

Can't find them in stores around here or I would have already tried one. Guess I'll have to order a few and try them out.
